Diesel Certified Technicians-- It has been three weeks since I told you your jackets would be on their way shortly. It seems that, although we received the jackets and were checking them in, the actual process of shipping them out is just getting under way now. We had some miscommunication, and I thought the shipments were starting weeks ago, but I was wrong. I really, really apologize for this extra long delay, on top of the backorder. If it's cold in your state, like it is here in Michigan, hold out for just a few more weeks. The guys who have received their jackets say they really like them, so I'm hoping we will deliver a product that was worth the wait! When your jacket ships, you will get an e-mail that contains the UPS tracking number. Enjoy your Thanksgiving. Here at Ford Motor Company, one thing we will certainly be giving thanks for is our Diesel Certified Technicians.

Coolant loss (3 gallons) No visible leaks
dieseltech replied to Mekanik's topic in General Diesel Engines
With the high mileage 7.3 that I delt with that had coolant lose but no signs of leaks almost always the problem cylinder was on the right side. After removing the pistons I would fine small pin holes/cavitation on the outside or coolant side of the cylinder -

I have one for the International guys, 4700 with an ambulance package. A/C does not get cold, gets cool. This has vacuum operated water valves, I have International service manuals and there EVTM for the A/C system. There is nothing in the manuals about the water Valves. There is no power to the switching valve, when I apply power to it the water valves work and the temp drops another 12 degrees. Can any one tell me where the vacuum switch gets it's power? Thanks

Whah! F450 only does 80 MPH!
dieseltech replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I do know that there is a difference in speed rated calibrations for 6.0l F250-F350's VS. F450-F550. The difference is about 15 MPH. I found this out first hand when our parts dept. ordered a F550 PCM for a F350. The customer brought the truck back the next week asking what I did to his top end speed. -
Our first 6.4 came in 2/1, Check engine light on and sticker shock $50,000. They don't last for ever.

Early HPOP removal
dieseltech replied to snw blue by you's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Just finished a early built 04 H/P pump intake manifold needed to be removed. The late build 04's do not require removing the intake. -
About 90% of my work is warranty and I do 99% of the medium class work bumper to bumper.

To: All Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealership Principals, Service Managers and Service Technicians Subject: Portable Diagnostic Software (PDS) Notices for 2008 Focus and 6.4L Diesel Engine DISCONTINUATION OF PDS MODULE REPROGRAMMING PDS will not reprogram modules on the 2008 model year Focus (all engines) and 2008 Super Duty (6.4L Diesel engine only). These vehicles have been singled out as the first to be removed from the PDS module reprogramming support list due to their use of coordinated module programming and the new ISO14229 communication protocol. Support for coordinated module programming and programming of ISO14229 modules requires a large amount of Pocket PC memory that is in short supply and this memory cannot be expanded. Use of the required Secure Digital (SD) card will not resolve the memory issue. We are limited by the amount of main memory included in the Pocket PC architecture. Please keep in mind that the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) is the all-inclusive Ford diagnostic, service function, and reprogramming tool. PDS HARDWARE SUPPORT The Dell Axim X3/X3i Pocket PC will be removed from the PDS approved device list in July 2007. This decision coincides with the manufacturer's planned date to cease support for this device. QUESTIONS Questions should be directed to Jeff Daugherty, JDAUGHER@ford.com, at (313) 323-6803.

If you already have the WDS MD cables they are the same cables.

Turbo up-pipes, '04 F-350
dieseltech replied to mchan68's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
To find the sourse or location fo a exhaust leak remove the EBP sensor, plug the exhaust pipe with a fender cover and use your smoke mechine to fill the system. You will have no problem finding your leak. -
HP Oil Testing using CO2 or Nitrogen?
dieseltech replied to Bruce Amacker's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I use nitrogen to diag HP oil leaks, find the cracked branch tubes, blown couplers and broken d-rings on the injectors very well. -
Just wanted to let every know that works on medium class trucks that MD software is now on the Rotunda site for down loading. You do not have to buy new cables, you still use the IC3 and IC4 cables. Be sure to down load ALL of the MD software. If you do not load IC3 the IC4 cable will not work. I had not ssen any thing on the PTS site or on broad cast messages. Just thought I would let eveyone know.

6.0 lack of pwr, skipping, runs rough
dieseltech replied to Jwebb1981's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Use 303-765 adapter to access fuel pressure port and I also use a oil pressure gauge to check fuel pressure. Have you performed a enhanced power balance test to check the injectors? Also looks like you have carboned EGR Valve and maybe intake passages.
