  1. Theses a time and a place for both. Broken drill bit in a stud, get the welder. The welder trick also works for getting the dowel out of superduty transfer cases when they come out of the back of the trans. (Granted there is a dowel in the new trans)
  2. I got a trans out of a 2011 escape sitting on my bench in a million pieces. The snap ring on the bottom side of the center support came loose made a mess. I know there is a ssm for a redesigned center support. This one was tore up bad enough that I'm getting an assembly. My question is when these things let loose is it normal for them to trash the entire trans?
  3. They can't make exaust nuts that come apart at 30,000 miles without heat. I wouldn't hold my breath.
  4. I got an 11 Escape with no reverse and burned fluid. And the cooling fans stay on high the entire time the thing runs.
  5. I got pictures of that bleed hole that you have to get below for the air-lift to work properly. These were on a new Focus, but it's the same as the Escapes.
  6. Some person with more money than brains who feels like they were robbed of their childhood will buy it.
  7. SSM 44479 - 2013 Escape - Complete FSA 13S12 Prior To PCM Reprogramming - Multiple Cooling System Codes After Powertrain Control Module Update Complete Field Service Action (FSA) 13S12 prior to reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Some 2013 Escape vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine may exhibit multiple cooling system DTCs after PCM reprogramming. DTCs P1299, P2556, P2557, P2560, P1940, and U1035 may be induced if the PCM is reprogrammed before 13S12 is completed. The FSA steps must be completed in the proper sequence provided in the FSA. Upon completion of the FSA, clear all DTCs and retest. Prior to performing the following Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) FSA 13S12 must be completed: 13-02-15, 13-03-14, 13-03-15, 12-10-13. When you run oasis for a P26B7:00-28 (PCM) - Engine Coolant Bypass Valve C Control Circuit Open you come up with TSB 13-02-15 for a new vavle and a reflash, but what they don't tell you on oasis for that code is that this ssm exists until after you flash it and get the pile of codes that won't clear.
  8. I think the tablet wouldn't be a bad idea but however the $300 to $400 vcm 2's on ebay and amazon are probably counterfeit ones. Especially since most of the cheap ones on ebay are in china. I can go on Rotunda right now and buy a vcm that is warrantied for 2 years and guaranteed to be authentic for $950.
  9. The few cups i've done i've always used the 620 also. Don't know that i'd wanna try something else and have it fail cause of the wrong sealant.
  10. I never thought of the smoke thing, but whatever method you use make sure you rotate the hubs and shafts when you leak test them. I've seen them only leak in certain positions. I went back and took another look at the tsb and yeah it is an excessive grease issue, but the new thrust washers do come with those notches cut in them.
  11. Okay for starters that big washer with the 4 grooves is supposed to be behind the wheel bearing on the axle shaft with the smooth side facing the hub. Then the hub gets bolted in. Then you should have 3 thrust washers, 2 round ones and a hexagon shaped one. The order of those behind the snap ring is round, hexagon and then the other round one followed by the snap ring. There is a tsb for poor hub engagement that has you file notches into the big shim behind the hub so that it looks like this:
  12. I love my lenovo thinkpad. Not a touchscreen though. But lenovo tech support is the best one i ever dealt with. And I've dealt with lots of different ones.
  13. Pure curiosity.... Have you got it hot and let it sit a couple hours and retry it?
  14. I have neither a local Best Buy nor Office Max. Any suggestions on where to head? I'm open to brick and mortar stores in Canada or ordering online from Canada or the US.I looked on newegg.com last night and they had a bunch of different windows 7 options with the intel I series proccessor. Otherwise you can still order it from lenovo and dell for sure.
  15. Thats how i am gonna do the next one. I wiggled one out the other day and ended up draining the secondary coolant anyway.
  16. Turbo is in. No more smoke. Our magnahic gauge is beat up enough that you cant read it so i didnt do an actual crankcase pressure test, but i did pull the oil cap off and had next to nothing coming out at cold idle and hot idle. I'm not thinking it has a crankcase pressure issue since the original turbo wasn't leaking oil.
  17. How long does it sit for between uses when it barely starts?
  18. Yeah I thought about it a little harder after I hit go on the post and figured that's what that meant.
  19. They are Ford remans, Plus there was oil in the turbine housing when I split the turbo on the bench, but I will check out the crankcase vent tomorrow when I drop the turbo back on. I do remember that the original one did not leak oil. I think that we pulled it for a sticking/overboost issue.
  20. First question. What's an indy shop? If I remember right the fem is a t-bird and LS exclusive. And yeah I would consider it to be similar to an sjb. But keep in mind there is a rem on those too.
  21. You can still get lots of Windows 7 stuff. Just not at your local Best Buy or Office Max.
  22. I've got an 05 F-550 that has a new crha waiting to be installed. Turbo is under warranty, we put a complete assembly on it last summer (Don't remember why) and it came back a few weeks later smoking. Pulled the turbo and found the oil seal leaking into the turbine housing, Put another turbo on it and now it's back again smoking and using oil. Pulled the turbo, plugged the oil drain, soaped down the turbine wheel put 40 psi of air to the oil feed and watch it bubble. Both of the shafts have the normal amount of play in them. And yes I pre-lubed both of them like the directions that came with them say to do.
  23. I don't know why he can't use the IDS? Unless he's reading the workshop manual and seeing that it doesn't list IDS as a programing option.
