  1. At 5.00 a gallon this will seperate the men from the boys. I think we will see a mass exodus from the personal use trucks much like what happened to the muscle cars of the '60s. I don't see many guys sticking with trucks that are getting 10 to 15 miles a gallon and cost 175.00 to fill but hey thats just my
  2. Did anyone know that if you are in the RTDA program EGR valves on the 6.4 require prior approval. Had one kick back today and could not understand why. The P&S director called and promptly said numerous valves had been replaced since last Dec. and the claims had not bounced, that is when it was explained, 6.0L ok, 6.4L requires approval, WTF!!!! It is nowhere in print! Now they want me to be a mind reader too?
  3. They just gave one of those warrantys to one of our customers to keep him happy, however it was for 200,000 miles This was the '08 E-350 that had 2600 miles and had multiple injector electrical failure, then the cherry on the sundae was one of the replacements was NG and I had to pull bank 2 apart again. Left the body on for the re-repair, wished I hadn't. Yeah, they'll pay, just not the dealerships.
  4. I don't have a kind bone in my body. Here was my reply "Chris, sounds a little pompus to me. With everything our jobs and life require from us I do believe it possible to miss things from time to time. Aren't you the perfect little worker bee."
  5. I knew about Verify60 and used it on my R.Os for quite awile up until about a year ago when I was told I could no longer use it, that "COMPARED TO EVERYONE ELSE IN MY GROUP, I WAS USING IT TO MUCH. YOU ARE TO NO LONGER CLAIM VERIFY60, AND IF YOU DO IT WILL BE CHARGED BACK" My group? I always assumed that meant dealers in the Hartford County area, nope, the entire Boston district. I call bullshit on the entire process. The system is loaded, of course I will be higher, if other shops do not know about the op they won't take it. I am under a microscope right now, to the point that I will be turning away work on vehicles that were not purchased from us. Bought your truck in MA,R.I,VT,NY, whatever, to bad for you, I will not be working on it, return to your selling dealer. Why the attitude? Because I am smarter than your average bear, and Ford wants me to lower my standards of billing to be inline with the boobs and morons to stupid to use the SLTS manual to it's fullest. As I was told by Ford, I am smart enough to know what is wrong with the vehicle before I even start diag, so therefore there is no reason to pay anymore than a few tenths diag time. And just how many times do you have to roadtest, once should be sufficient. By my count it should be at least 3 times. 1, Verify concern 2, Roadtest with test equipment 3, Verify repair Nope, I've been told once is good enough, maybe twice. I have also been told not to claim ANY 12650 labor ops, when using 6005 labor ops, this includes recordings and on and on. This was not by my SM, but rather FoMoCo by telephone conference Fuck 'em and feed 'em beans, I've had it. It's not my fault the value of their stock continues to decline, and it's not my fault they wont meet the profitability projections for this quarter but damn if they don't act like I'M the one responsible for it.
  6. Why did I bother getting certified when Ford is second guessing me on all diesel repairs anyway? Fuck this, I've had enough, time for a career change.
  7. I just made up the noid light and I am curious as to it's op. KOEO, both lamps flash with the same brightness, yet running the open coil side is significantly dimmer, wazzup? Does the open side have a higher draw? or is this indicitive of some other concern? I would assume both coils would have the same requirements.
  8. Here are pics of the body off. I would do this again without hesitation as long as the hardware is accessible. After doing numerous school buses and box trucks this was a cake walk.
  9. How'd ya get it shut down? I keep the extinguisher close by for just that, course don't do ya much good on the road test.
  10. Alex please excuse me if I came off bitchy, that was not my intent. That being said, the body is off, and like doing anything for the first time it was a litle time consuming, however, I am now smiling while removing the injectors (all 8) and I will go home this evening without pains in my back or ripped open skin. It also allows me to do a thourough examination of the electrical system as even though the harness and FICM seems to past muster, no one can explain why 1,3,5,2,6,and,8 have failed electrically on a truck with less than 3K miles. I will post pics tomorrow. Thanks Keith and the rest of our community.
  11. I don't know about you but at 44 this shit isn't get any easier. I like to work like a human being not a circus side show freak but hey if you think jerking the motor around and streching arms and legs and working in cramped spaces that you can't really see is ok, more power to ya. This is a cargo van, has nothing in it.
  12. Has anyone done this? I've got injectors to replace on both banks, pulled plenty of F-seies but never a van. BTW, what the hell were these dumfucks thinking by moving us another 1.5 ft away from this disaster? Not only is it still cramped but now ya gotta' stretch to reach anything. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Stephen.
  13. I've had 3 like that in the past 1.5 months. Wierd, hadn't seen any before that first one, then 2 more within 2 weeks F'd up.
  14. Thanks for the replys. At the very least I guess I will be pulling the pan and giving a look see, as well I will use the boroscope to check the piston and cylinder for damage. I'll let management figue out whos payin' for what.
  15. Has anyone ever had one fall out of a motor? Any idea what may have caused this? '03 Excursion, 83K, customer performed maintainience(based on the condition of K&N air filter, below average marks). Changed his oil and jet was on the drain plug. Of course he is out of warranty by time but wants it covered. Not my problem.
  16. Yup the piston is my ash tray, it's a forged KB outta my '02 Indian Chief. As far as the EGR valve goes it took two of us prying like no tommorrow to finally pop it out of the bore. No amount of penetrant was going to help as most of the valve body welded it's self into the bore. This is why the forcing screw threads on the small end stipped off. I am replacing the "console" as Ford calls it and obviously the valve as well. Interesting side not is parts is haviving a problem getting the proper EGR cooler gasket, seems Ford updated and the gasket is completely different, any ideas?
  17. I got it out 'cept it's in pieces, will take pics tommorrow. Damn thing completely siezed into the adapter. It generated a P042F P0404 and P1408 and the valve is destroyed (bent stem) I am replacing the whole adapter, I don't believe it is worth trying to save. Thanks Dwayne.
  18. Help! The small end of the forcing screw went to lunch and now I got nothing to remove the valve. Any ideas? The valve simply does not want to move.
  19. Don't know if this has been covered before but I though I'd post a couple of pics. Customer brought in his 450 slightly down on boost with a hissing under boost, like a torn CAC hose, as well there was oil misting above the valve cover. What I found was a loose horseshoe due to the four valve cover bolts that support it mounting bracket had broken. Not that big a deal, required a little drilling with a LH bit but they came out without a huge ordeal. As a side note all of the VC bolts were loose, musta been a Friday afternoon build. BTW, you need to take the VC off.
  20. I feel your pain! Good luck, I'm sure you will be able to sell it to your customer and salvage the relationship. Have faith brother.
  21. Yup, that was me. Click Here I have had many a failed early pump, more than I care to remember. Keith, I hate to ask this, but your tech DID block both rails, right?
  22. Something else I am not gettin' here. TSBs traditionally pay less than individual labor ops so why would Ford not pay after 3/36? All parts covered under Ford's 5/100 diesel powertrain warranty can and according to Ford, should be replaced using applicable TSBs. Your warranty clerk is a moron, or maybe they do it differently in Canuckistan.
  23. However do not be surprised if Ford kicks this new one back because you claimed the EGR TSB. Just happened to me, they said they understood the EGR valves go south due to the EGR and oil cooler taken a dump so you should just use 12650D30. WTF, you clowns just got done telling me not to use ANY 12650 labor ops when using a TSB or diag sheet. These fuckers are trying to save pennies at our expense.
  24. Bruce, I used your third option but I had parts order me a line as I didn't have one I could scavange. I looked at the thread from last year and saw your comment about the test port fitting, yup I got mine aftermarket, believe it or not, Home Depot! I had to grind down the outer diameter to get it to fit but I put everything together with pipe sealant and all I have to do is thread it by hand and when I put the hose on give it a little with the wrench, no leaks. Here's a pic of my F-series setup BTW, the hose was rated to 100 psi and the 50 or so psi we deal with is well within that, I like it because it is flexible and I can run it into the vehicle and place the guage wherever I want.
