  1. I have had a couple and I used the new style that came with the headgaskets. I didn't have any problems.
  2. I wasn't talking about a bumpin system, I'm talking about a boom as in A cycling, rythmic sound often accompanied by a sensation on the ear drums. I did a little research and found some other definitions for "boom": Boom 1. When something is good, great or amazing. 2. When someone does something good, great or amazing. 3. When someone says something good, great or amazing. "That club we went to last night was boom" Boy smashes a window - "Yeah dats boom" "Let's go down the park and get some cider" "Yeah boom" Boom adjective used to describe a pretty girl. "yo guy, that girl is BOOM" Boom The defensive tactic that Muslim teenagers who are being bullied use to defend themselves. just yell, or write the word Bully: Hey, ACHMED, give me your lunch money! Ahmad: BOOM! Bully:AAAAHHH
  3. It is supposed to be ready tomorrow, but I have a bad feeling...
  4. Are you talking about the 6.0L with the rear main or the F150 with the broken plug?
  5. Don, The tech was able to drill out the piece of the tool and then use the Ford tool for removal. Please forgive me Jim. I posted during the weekend and silly me, I forgot about all the vehicles that were waiting for me.
  6. well I must have forgotten that it was a 2 valve. We have a guy that bought a tool for removing broken 3 valve plugs from Matco. It looked like a nice tool for $100.00. The first time using it it broke. Now the piece that threads into the broken plug is broken off in the cyl head. It looks like the head is going to have to come off.
  7. It it possible it is not running right because you don't have a cat on this thing? I haven't had the pleasure to do the KA PPT in a while, but it may have been written with the assumption that you have a catylitic converter.
  8. If it has inferred EBP it dosen't have to be a bad leak to cause real problems. A leak on the intake side can cause some serious problems too. Any DTCs?
  9. The guy across from me had one that was really lacking power.(after the re-program) Then he took it on a long enough road test for it to regen and it came back to life.
  10. I think its a very solid car. I did a battery cable on one, and I can't remember doing anything else other than a o/f and rotate.
  11. When I left on Friday, I diaged a 3 valve 5.4L and I was trying to up-sell spark plugs. Would you guys think less of me if I used a 3/8 impact on the plugs to remove them? Jim?
  12. You seriously cut and re-welded the spare tire carrier? I had one that I unbolted and mover the ladder rack on. The time was totally legit, and I was a little dis-appointed that I had to fight WPI to get the time.
  13. I get it. The fresh air comes in the sides of the heads where the exaust manifold would normally be and is expelled directly into the inside port of the head right into the turbo.
  14. The scorpion 6.7 is all Ford and not International right? Short 6.7L Article "The Scorpion diesel's innards will be enhanced with reversed intake and exhaust flow, something found on GM's Duramax diesel, and lighter aluminum cylinder heads. " Can someone please explain the reversed intake and exaust flow to me.
  15. Good luck. I hope you find that the grass is greener on the other side. Its a wierd thing about being a tech. I really don't know of many guys that have made it to retirement. Most end up finding something else to do. Someone with 15 years experience who is a senion master can't be replaced by the kids that are getting into the buisness now and work in quick-lane.
  16. Did you happen to index the driveshaft? (marking the shaft on the companion flange and re-installing it on the same spot) You can check the runout of the driveshaft by the flange for the diffefential. I can't remember what the spec is. I'm sure its in the book. Just because it is new dosen't mean that it is good. I have had problems with a new driveshaft before. The way I see it, that is the only thing you could have changed. (other than the trans) You said that it "felt" like a wheel/tire vibration. You also said that you did not rotate the tires. The way I see it is if you suspect a bad tire, it is a good idea to rotate the tires to see if the vibration changes. So if the vibration is coming from the floor and you rotate the tires and the vibration has changed and now much worse in the steering wheel, you can feel confident that you have a wheel/tire problem. Good Luck
  17. This is Ford's latest diesel engine that is coming out right? This is a private discussion? I feel so left out. Is this just for mafia members?
  18. Thats exactly what I would use to do before I would install the new airbag monitor. Nothing worse than installing a brand new airbag monitor and having the internal fuse blow. Been there, done that If they want us to take apart FICMs, then I say bring it on. I can handle it.
  19. I heard today that there are some guys that remove the 3 valve spark plug with a 3/8 impact to get the plugs out without breaking. A couple guys have tried it and didn't break a single plug. I don't replace too many spark plugs, so I have not had the opportunity to try this.
  20. I had a good one yesterday. We have a 2008 Fusion in the shop for a SYNC issue that I looked at on Monday. I was told to do the 911 assist & vehicle health report upgrade on the SYNC system. They just wanted me to do it, so we knew what to expect when someone wants us to do this on thier vehicle. Well, it was a total motherfucker of a job. First I had problems with the IDS. I followed TSB 08-21-02 to change all sorts of settings, completely lower the internet security settings, disable the firewall. Then I had to hook the IDS up to a lan line. After several attempts I called hotline. The first engineer I talked to seemed like a dick and wasn't much help. The second guy I talked to was really helpful. He thought that since I tried programming the AIPM and it didn't work, and then I tried and tried several times that maybe the IDS still had the original file and was trying to use the file that didn't work. He had me go into the C drive, go into this file, that file, look for this file, go into this file, and do you see this program? It was a zip file that was the update. He had me delete it and try agian. It worked!!! I'm a fucking diesel tech, not a IT guy working at Motorolla!!! It took me 5.9hrs (I'm getting paid for all of it)to do the update, and I'm the "SYNC Guy" in the shop. My writer told me on Monday when I first looked at this car that he has to give it to me because I'm the only one that can do it. WTF?
  21. I'm trying to get an account set up over there.
  22. Ok, I did some reading... This guy is something else. This is a picture of his work area. It looks as if the front bumper is touching the back of this other car. It looks like it might be a Mercedes? He has stacked parts on the trunk lid, treating this vehicle like it is a workbench. Somehow he is able to weasel an engine hoist in there and raise the engine in order to remove the oil pan. This picture is something he is proud of? I know. This is probably another vehicle that he put a lien on because he couldn't diag properly.
  23. That is exactly what I was thinking.
