  1. For real? I don't think I have replaced a single inertia switch in 16 years.
  2. We have a 2006 F450 or F550 coming in the shop(again). The vehicle will stall and not re-start and always has a P0231 in memory. We have never got the problem to happen, but have replaced the fuel pump and the CJB which has the fuel pump relay inside. Any ideas? BTW, I'm not the one working on it. I'm just trying to help.
  3. I have to say that sounds like a good idea. I have replaced two of the grey CMPs so far. Thanks for your help Bruce.
  4. Nothing. I let it idle, drove it, ect... Could not get the problem to happen. I gave it a good wiggle test and checked the wiring under the master. Any other ideas?
  5. It has a grey CMP(but that dosen't mean that it is good). I will check the wiring for chafing like you said. I didn't check for fuel contamination yet. Thanks and I'll keep you updated.
  6. Larry, I'm so sorry to hear that. I lost my mother a little over seven years ago. Its tough. Your mother sounds like she had a good attitude toward life.
  7. Hahaha Yeah thats all I need to be wearing while working on a little bus.
  8. I'm working on a 2000 F350 that stalls intermittently. Usually after idling a long time and they say it is worse when raining. I have not been able to verify it and the only DTC it has is a P0231, which is for fuel pump circuit. Now, you can actually unplug a 7.3L fuel pump and it will lack power and smoke, but actually run pretty good(as long as the pump is not locked-up and fuel can flow through it). I have a hard time believing that a open fuel pump will cause this. Also they say that the thing fires up after it stalls. Any ideas???
  9. Does anyone know the p/n for an injectot connector for a 2002 F350? I realize that I can get the whole harness, but I just want a single connector. It is also the same for the IPR. Thanks
  10. Good article!! I totally agree. How come the people in our country who are in charge of failing banks are paid so much compared to the Japaneese bankers.
  11. What is your cooling system pressure when is is overheating? Anything restricting airflow through the radiator?
  12. Check out the looks on thier faces! That is great!
  13. That is really harsh. I realize that these are tough times that we are living in right now, but you don't just stop giving your retirees free beer! At least they have the decency to taper the free beer over a five year period. As a worker, I think going from 864 free cold ones to a mere 624 is reason to strike!
  14. My only real bitch is the way we get paid. These cars now have some really high tech systems. I'm a senior master and I keep up with all of the web based training, but I cannot be an expert on every single system on a vehicle. I don't think its right that I only get paid for roughly half an hour if I'm lucky to diagnoss most problems(under warranty) with the exception of diesels and some drivabil. Especially when I'm dealing with some really expensive parts, I need to be thourough and make sure it is going to fix the complaint. I'm also really big on concentrating my energy on things that I can control. I think everyone here probably agrees with me on this but seriously, what can we do about it. Like Jim said, there are plenty of techs out there that have been out of work for a while and are ready to probably work for a little less. There is too much supply on techs and not enough demand right now.
  15. I had an early build that would always come in with oil leaks(everything but the oil sender). I could never get that engine to stop leaking oil. Anyways, I checked the oil pressure and I can't remember what it was, but it was way over 100psi. I called hotline because I thought that was a problem and causing this truck's habitual oil leaks. Hotline said it was fine and they can handle way more oil pressure than that. I can't remember what the max oil pressure was. I wish I wrote that down.
  16. Good point. There is a dealer not that far from us that got really fed up with it's service dept that it fired every single person in the working in service. They figured with all the techs, service writers, parts guys, service managers out looking for work, that he could just start over with a whole new crew. I have a feeling that many techs that get laid off will eventually find something different to do. (I at least hope that they find something different to do)
  17. At my last job we had one that came in with a leaking sender. After it was originally replaced it came back two times because the replacement sender was leaking. The truck came back on the hooks both times because it was leaking so bad. The new senders only lasted about a day or so. I'm actually a little scared to replace one.
  18. We used to replace a TON of fuel pumps on those trucks. I'm glad it's fixed.
  19. Is this by chance a white dually pick-up truck? It sounds like a vehicle I worked on a couple years ago. The thing was bought back by Ford and then they some how ended up getting sold agian and it was nothing but problems.
  20. You are sure that you have 40psi of fuel pressure when the problem occurs? Inspect the wiring at the a/c accumilator. I have seen chaffing there before.
  21. maybe it goes into re-gen less when it is working harder.
  22. It looks pretty shady but unless you have some serious proof, what can you do besides make Ford make the call on this one.
