  1. It seriously takes you less time to R&R the trans than to R&R the turbo?
  2. That would be me. One time I called a guy at work on Saturday to check to see that all the cotter pins are installed on a vehicle that I was working on Friday. I just got this "wierd feeling" on the way home from work and I couldn't get it out of my head. I will re-install a car seat upon request, but I really don't feel comfortable doing it. I don't blame anyone who would refuse to do it. Especially you guys that don't have kids and car seats in your own vehicles.
  3. Whats in the pump? Pieces of a roller lifter or those injector pieces?
  4. I feel pretty stupid right now for not guessing that.
  5. Thats pretty cool. I wonder how many trucks are like this out there.
  6. I have seen several of these hoses leak. Most of them just need the 6.4L coolant flush. New radiator and coolant. Reccomended every 12,000 miles.
  7. It looks like the flexible tubing used for HVAC in houses taking the place of something else in an exaust system.
  8. Is it some sort of hilbilly cat or DPF delete kit?
  9. The last shop I worked , they loved to have me talk to customers and tell them how to fix thier own cars(so they can save some money and avoid paying me). There were several times when after talking to the guy for a minute, I would say, "I'm not telling you anymore. You are going to end up hurting yourself or someone else when you try to do this your self. Then I will be liable because I led you down that path. " Like some moron that wants to take apart the steering shaft on his Expedition and drill holes in the U-joints to install grease fittings. Or the guy that thinks he will replace his CV boots himself, but does not know what a steering knuckle is.
  10. I myself don't have any great stories about this, but I do remember a thread on this on the Ford Site. Some idiot didn't like the price of a set of struts on his car, so he decided he would do it himself. He came back in a few days later and his car was on a towtruck. The customer was wearing a neck brace and had a black eye.
  11. I have taken several of these bodies off and I think I have always at least spun one of the front bolts if not more. I actually broke a bolt the last one I did. My parts guy was telling me that I would need to get the whole core support to get a front bolt, but one of the bolts from the old 1998 subframe recall fits perfectly.
  12. I believe that if the oil cooler is faulty due to coolant and oil mixing together then you will be replacing the entire oil cooler. So your parts dept will still end up selling these coolers.
  13. I'm suprised you didn't take it to Ron Tirapelli Ford where you used to work. How does it feel to be on the other side of the service desk? Haha
  14. If you don't mind driving up to McHenry I'll fix it.

Thank you both. I just talked to my parts manager. The number didn't come up, but it is available. We can actually get it tomorrow.

    Unison Ring P/N

Thanks, but our parts dept said that it isn't a good number.

What is the part number for the unison ring for a 6.0L turbocharger? 2004 F250 early build Thanks in advance
  19. Here is a good question regarding the new seal. How do we remove the new style wear sleeve? The tool for the old style one won't grab the new style wear sleeve. We have one in the shop right now. The 2008 Econoline manual says to use the old tool.
  20. I have cut the bolt off with a torch and a mirror before. I have seen a guy here remove the front 2 body bolts and raise the front of the cab to get more room to get the bolt out.
  21. What happened to the hold down bolt? Did it break?
  22. Did you figure this thing out? Is it a KOEO DTC or continious? I don't understand how you are having troubles with the VMV when the DTC is related to the canister vent soliniod.
  23. Does anyone in your shop have turbo sockets? AKA twist sockets. I bet they would take those bolts off. They have saved my ass several times.
  24. I re-sealed one of these in October. No problems... 28 in/lbs seemed way too loose so I just made it "tight", using my best judgement.
  25. After thinking about this for a while, I had that code(or 1 for a different cylinder)on a 2000 Excursion when they first came out. The MIL lamp will come on after it is started if the GPCM detects a problem. I think mine turned out to be the GPCM that was bad. The 2000 Excursion was the first 7.3L to have that solid state controller and not the relay style glow plug controller.
