  1. Okay, we have heard from the nudians.... My take on this....Are you ready.... Okay The "Big 3" so called manufacturers are pumping up the work force "onions" to preach build it here buy it here. I don't buy into that narrow frame of mind. I am so (sorry Keith) FUCKIN TIRED of seeing the bumper stickers....Keep buying Foreign cars and send our jobs out of the country. Buy American... The big 3 are the biggest contributors of purchasing foreign parts for their "American made products" it makes me want to puke, What's really american made anymore???? My boss drives a 05 chevy 2500 with a "Duramax" diesel. He still won't accept the fact that it is a ISUZU diesel in his "American" made truck. Or should it just be stated "American" assembled truck. I worked for a Honda car dealer quite a few years back and had taken the tour of American Honda back in the 90's in Marysville Ohio. Back then the only piece of the car still coming from Japan was the transmission. Not anymore, they have built quite the engineering feat there in a little town in the U.S. I suggest more people check it out. Now don't get me wrong I believe in buying what we produce as a nation, but come on....It really sucks when I see things like this being farmed out to another country and we have really good men and women getting shit on and layed off or put out to pasture because the big 3 can't seem to get their shit straight. My biggest come back to the "onion" workers out there is....What kind of TV or Stereo do you own? Why don't you buy "American" made? Shut's them up pretty quick, They don't have a response for it. How about the "Tennis/Gym" shoes???Where are they made???? I am really glad that Ford decided to build their own diesel engine, But why couldn't they build it in Cleveland or maybe even Detroit??????? I understand that costs come into it but come on. We are dying here in the U.S. that's the last thing we needed. To see some jobs that would have been a big boost for the country shipped off to Mexico. After all this is the United States of America, Not Americana.
  2. So what now big guy? On the back???? Or maybe take it easy AND ASK FOR HELP with the heavy shit????? Dumb ass Your welcome by the way. It just pisses me off that my friends get hurt like this when they know better.....Anyone else wanna bust his chops??????
  3. Single or dual alternators? I ask this because we covered a similar situation a while back with a truck that had the dual alt's switched and causing alt failures. IIRC there is a idle up kit available.
  4. This is a older one with part numbers.... https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckBBAS/non-html/Q133.pdf
  5. Would that be Fast Eddies on Riverside Drive? Keith, I might have a FICM I could send you if you want to play doctor for a while......
  6. You can drink a ugly woman pretty..... You can't drink a fat woman skinny..... Anyways, back to the fuel system warnings. The fuel systems is putting out around 2500psi. Anyone checkout what the Diesel CR fuel systems are putting out???? 250 to 1600 bar [3626 to 23,206 psi] Talk about scary!!!! I think I told you guys about the mechanic at Chrysler when the 5.9 CR was still in testing and he decided to crack a fuel line and blew a hole thru his hand with the fuel pressure. He lasted 3 days before dying from blood poisoning. Scary shit. I'm not saying 2500psi isn't scary but 23K really opens your eyes.
  7. Came across this.... http://www.ftimeters.com/pdfs/brochures/brochure_automotive.pdf Or more advanced.... http://www.sierrainstruments.com/index.html
  8. Yep just "mowed the lawn" and edged yesterday. I don't mind other than the F$#%kin lazy neighbors that won't pick up their leaves. My yard of course is still lush and very green. I'm really anal about it. And don't even mention weeds around me. Won't stand for for them.
  9. I don't think Ford would put the techs in this position. I believe it will be a exchange unit, Especially with the legalities involved in repair a major control unit of the vehicle. Ford won't want anyone touching it. Good thought and good find but I don't think so.
  10. Should feel pissed and want to cause great bodily damage to the people that hurt anyone that have supported our country with their life so that we can be free american/mericans. Keith if not just feel sorry for the hero's that aren't mentioned in the article or news cast. I am part of the KofC here in Michigan, and I have been requesting a military family to adopt for the holidays. I have spoke with Linda and the kids and they are feeling the same as me. They give their lives for us why can't we give back to them? It's just something small but matters none the less. The kids of a military family seem to suffer the most now a days. If anyone can help in their local area a family, do so please. It's not just in the US but in Canada and any other country out there. We all love and appreciate the local boys putting their lives on the line for us. Give back!!!!
  11. Jim I kinda figured you for the kid that got tossed in the drink and learned how to swim or sink as I did. Lake Erie after a storm with 4-6ft waves. Ended up here so my Mum did good. Scary at first but after a few swallows of the drink learned how to get the hell out. After that she(my mum) couldn't keep me out of Erie. And now I piss people off.........Something to aspire to.......
  12. I know that Jim, I have had my dealings with assholes over the years but most of it was the fact that their shit was broken and they were pissed. I am really good at reading people and I have my regular customers that are actually real assholes in their own. I have had good success at turning bad things into good and the customer realizing that I am there to help them. Generally people aren't bad seed's it's just the few that piss me off to no end. As for Friday....This happened yesterday to me....On a side note it was the other guys at the shop that believe in the 13th that had a bad day. I don't take to any of the mumbo-jumbo bull that's shoveled out. I believe we are products of our enviroment and we make our own destiny whether it be good or bad, It's our choice how to deal with it. Jeff, Thanks!!!!Appreciate it!!!!
  13. +1. But if your here, safe, grown and healthy. Thank your parents for doing their jobs raising us to become the people we are. Without them there would be no us.
  14. So........... This guy calls me yesterday morning and askes if I have a fan clutch repair kit in stock. My response is as usual, What are you working on? His response, Don't know???? Me, Do you have any numbers off it? His, No. Me, What kind of clutch is it? Bendix,Kysor,Horton,Eaton and so on? His, Don't know?(This is already starting off bad but I know how to deal with it) Me, Do you have the vin to call the dealer and get me the info? His, Yes can you do that?(Great here we go again) Me, Give me the last 6 of the vin and I'll call you back. His, Blah Blah Blah ok thanks but call me right away I'm in a hurry to get the truck fixed. So, I call the dealer get the info free of course. And low and behold he has a Kysor/Borg Warner hub and clutch. No brainer to me. Call said customer back and get the response "what the hell took so long?" NOT GOOD Explain the whole scenario of the hub and clutch setup and what his options are. Explain that the fan hub is seperate from the clutch. Give him the prices for new exchange parts and the kits to rebuild it for himself. Convince him that exchanging it would be the easiest and quickest way to get the truck back on the road. He says ok I'll be down, but not before he tried to beat me up on price(IS MY TIME WORTH NOTHING?) So..... Couple hours pass by and in he comes with the hub and clutch all assembled and lays it on the counter and askes who is Larry? I said me, How can I help you. His, I talked to you about this clutch.... So.... I walk over and take a look at it, the bearings are blown out of the back side of the fan hub. I proceed to tell him that he is going to need more than a new clutch. He begins with the FUCK YOU attitude. I try to settle him down and tell him I will take a look at it. Again he starts with the FUCK YOU. Am I missing something here???? I have went out of my way to take care of him and this is not what I expect to see or hear. Okay I figure he is having a real bad day and try again. Nope, wrong. He keeps up with the real shitty attitude and really raises his voice, so.... I decide I have had enough shit from him. I look over at Craig who is one of the owners and he gives me a wink as if to tell him where he can stick his hub and clutch. So I procede to try to tell him that we don't want his business if this is the way he is going to act. He starts in on the fuel shop and goes into the...I buy all my parts here and have spent "thousands with you" and have bought your shitty injectors. My response was not nice anymore...."If your here and didn't like my injectors then why in the FUCK are you here?" By this time he is just making a total complete ass out of himself. Now mind you I have Craig(Owner) and 3 other parts guys and 8-10 guys in the fuel shop not to mention the other owner(Paul) and the front office staff within ears range of whats going on. What was really special, is that we had the V/P of Delphi A/M in with Paul at the same time for a meeting. I had everyone in the shop coming to see what the hell was going on. I don't normally fly off with my mouth at work. I try to treat everyone the way I would want to treated. But I had enough with this guy. Was I wrong??? At the end the guy asked "Who the Fuck is the Owner?" Craig started chuckling about the whole situation and this guy finally got the idea that we were not going to help him out. He left stating that he would rather go to Freightliner dealer and spend 3 times the amount with them, my response was go ahead it probably will be more like 4 times, have a nice day. And he left. Now Craig is having fun with it. I'm the trouble maker and I piss people off. It's all in good fun though. Craig came up to me today and said he had heard the whole thing even when I was on the phone with this guy. He told me not to worry about it.... IT STILL PISSES ME OFF!!!! Does this remind us of a guy in Canton Michigan? OK Rant over. Sorry so long. Anyone else????
  15. I'm thinking that also. Bruce did you get my fax?
  16. I have been going back and forth with this customer. I think he has engine problems not fan clutch problems. Are there any of us in the Plymouth Ma. area I could refer him to. Read over my emails and see if I am going in the right direction. Thanks Guys...... The guys at the international dealership ask me for the last eight of the vin: TH249832 The fan has a diameter of 24". It is a 7 blade fan. I don't know if I mentioned it or if it matters but I am loing coolant out of the top of the coolant reservoir when the truck is at 210* or so. I make sure that it is not fllled past the maximum level and the reservoir will empty if I don't watch it daily. It is the original radiator to the truck. The fan is the original seven blade fan that came with the truck. I don't have the part number available for the viscous drive that I bought. It would be pretty difficult to find it at this point. Bob ------Original Message------ From: larry To: Bob Mann Cc: 'Paul Marek' Sent: Nov 10, 2009 2:48 PM Subject: RE: FanClutch.com Contact Form Bob, I can help you out with this problem. I need some additional information though. You stated that you serviced the radiator. Was this re-cored or replaced? I will also need the numbers off of the Fan clutch and blade. There are severe duty parts available for IH trucks. This is a common problem with the split radiator applications. First Name: Bob Last Name: Mann Address: 8 Meadow Park Rd., Unit #2 City: Plymouth State: MA Zip: 02360 Email: bob@weedandfeed.net Phone: 508 509-4503 Message: Hi I have a 1995 International 4700 LPX with a T444E engine and Allison automatic transmission. The truck tows trailers ranging from 3000# to 15000# capacity. There is ample power to pull any load but I am having trouble with overheating. As you probably know, the radiator on this truck is split with 50% devoted to a transmission cooler, thus the radiator is especially small for a diesel engine. The truck will run somewhere between 190 and 210 if I baby the throttle and run the cab heater on high temperature and high fan settings. If I encounter hills or try to run faster than 55 mph the engine will quickly overheat. I serviced the radiator and installed a new viscous drive fan clutch (International OEM) earlier this summer with no relief. I have been poking around on internet forums and found that mechanics have had success in using the EC 450 product. My question to you is do you offer a high output fan that I can install along with the EC 450 that will move more air through the radiator. I do not care how much horsepower it robs, how often it engages (can stay on 100% of the time as far as I am concerned) nor do I care how noisy it is - I just want to pull as much air as possible through the radiator. Also, if you can think of any problems or pitfalls that I may encounter in retrofitting your product into my truck I would appreciate it
  17. Yep we had those too, probably Sefac lifts. Great for doing trans work on motorhomes.
  18. Yeah but Ford won't have IH to blame anymore. Who will they blame?????
  19. It doesn't look right. It's a nose to tail lift. I'm used to seeing it being grabbed from the side. Could be a good fit for the guys with the bodies with the cranes and all kinds of crazy shit on them.
  20. I looked to try and find a distributor for it but haven't had any success yet. As for the really tough covers we just use a cut-off wheel and save time by cutting them in half. Like you said it comes in the kit. As for you guy's that don't know what I'm talking about go to the link, click on the repair options tab. You will see the breakdown of the clutch. Have you been doing any 2 speed upgrades to the Drive Master clutches yet? We are doing a ton of them right now. Anyone dealing with Garbage trucks, Gravel trains or anything else that is low speed but heavy haul is a candidate for the upgrade. Heat is the enemy on these clutches. http://www.hortonww.com/catalog/mod_sear...p;units=english
  21. Just make sure you use sealant when you put the body back together with the cab.
