  1. Hey guy's I just came across a diesel training program from the 50's. It was a mail based program back then. Kind of reminds me of the internet training we get now. It has quite a bit of information in it. If anyone is interested PM me and I will send it to you, just promise to only send it to another here on the DTS. I want it back but also want to be able to share it with all of you guys.
  2. Good deal Lee , Have you owned it since new? I know quite a few 6.0 owners that are pretty happy with their trucks. If used for what they are meant to they seem to be pretty good. What kind of driving/hauling do you do? By the way glad to see you posting!
  3. Welcome to the Blue Diamond way of things. They have done that alot on parts base numbers. Doesn't make any sense why they would do that.
  4. Just picked up my new specs last night. What a trip, it feels like i'm wasted all the time. It seems like everything moves around.
  5. He gets what he pays for, just like the customers that go to the quicky oil change places that pay the lube "TECHS" cheap. You pay $8.00 hr to these guys and you get $8.00 worth of experience. Watch he'll be back and pissed at you when it takes a shit. Please keep us posted when he does....
  6. Long story made short.... I am trying to help out a good customer. He has had this particular truck to the local IH dealer 4 times with bad head gaskets. 1. head gasket change 2. Head gasket + #6 liner 3. Head gasket + #3 and #4 liner 4. Head gasket And now for the 5th time blown head gasket. I had him send me the head so we could check it out. We got it up on the bench to clean it and the first thing I noticed was the surface of the head had been cleaned with surface prep discs on the previous repairs. Does IH have anything in print for cleaning and prep requirements for these heads? By looking at the head with no further inspection it appears to be wavy. We will be doing a really extensive check in the A.M.
  7. Yeah but when these back yard "Rex's" do this we eventually see them back to fix it right.
  8. Just grabbed this from the 6.4 thread from Jim. Thought this would go perfect on this thread. Quote: How are we doing it? We say "we need more repeat customers". "We need to stand out from other shops". "We need to make people remember us".... Without parts support from the factory were all screwed.
  9. Yep, sure have and the one memory of this was rolling it out on the trails and breaking off the removable hard top. Boy was I pissed. It was a Scout II 345 with a 3 spd. The top held the body firm, without it the body sides flapped. Not a pleasant ride after that.
  10. Yeah I thought of Lasik to, but at a cost of almost 3K it's a bit pricey for me.
  11. I did some searching on the web and it looks like the F-150's have a substantial issue with vibrations. I can't say that I have personally seen this issue, but from what I read has been steering to the wheels themselves being out of round. Anyone else have anything on this?
  12. Thanks Keith. By the way 2 pairs of glasses with the transition lenses and no Eye coverage. $500.00
  13. So here I am having some really nasty headaches lately. I thought it was just my sinus's acting up again....WRONG...Still having headaches so one of the guys here suggest getting my eyes checked, I thought why not it's been almost 2 years since my last visit to the old eye doctor. So last Saturday I go and getem checked. I figured I would need a little stronger prescription, Again WRONG... Diagnosis....Normally I would recieve the standard bi-focal's but no WRONG again. Being the fact that I use the computer all the time at work and home I am now getting Tri-focals. Top takes care of the distance, center takes care of the computer and bottom takes care of the reading and close work. What a F#%$^%g bummer. So I get back to work and I get the razzing from the guy's here, this morning I had the pleasure of coming in and my desk was covered in AARP literature. Getting older, Wiser I'm not sure of yet....
  14. Looks like both the block and pan as Keith stated. Looks like it might have been a Monday/Friday assembly. Got a production date on the engine? It would be interesting to find out.
  15. Mike, Do you have a body builder that your sales dept uses? Usually they can identify the pulleys. If not send me the pulley and I'll find the correct one for you.
  16. Mike, is this a tow truck or anything with a belt driven PTO? If it is chances are that the body builder installed it. If not can you expand on the vehicle information for me?
  17. Just had a new Snake oil salesmen come in and pitch his bull....The oil additive supposedly fixes all the 6.0 injector problems....He said he has proven results, when I asked to see these results he couldn't....Check it out he may be coming to see you soon.... www.revxoil.com
  18. I am interested, though... what is it that Ford has "come to accept"? That hot-rodding the VT365 wasn't such a good idea? Thanks Jim, I was trying to figure out how to word that. Well Said
  19. Quote: i'm really at a loss. do not see any signs of oil dye, only oil in the valley is now in the back section right next to the drain hole.any ideas on it? i'm stumped and pissed, so i need help. Are you sure it's oil? What color is the fuel in the bowl? Could the F/F housing be leaking? Maybe you have a hose or oring split. Does the IH version use the steel supply lines like the Fords do? I have seen them rot out and get pin holes in them and only leak under load.
  20. Have you taken a fuel sample? Possible contamination? Delam? What fuel is he using? How long has it been since it got a oil change and what kind of oil was used?
  21. Is it just me or is the Front oval one of the biggest I have ever seen????
  22. Here's a interesting article on the Ecoboost.... http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/wip/0909wip01.html
  23. Dirty whether it be clear or visible is still dirty. I still polish my boat or coffee table even though they might appear clean. Do you wash your pretty truck even though it looks clean?? Most do.....So why shouldn't the exhaust be allowed to do its job???
