Tuners..... This is something I have seen quite frequently here lately, not problems with the tuners per say.... Turbo's on the other hand.... Alot of turbo failures, with some inquiries and talking with the customers have found out most (around 60-70%) have had installed tuners but done nothing to the intake, or exhaust on these trucks. With further inquiry found out they are running them with the highest level tune programmed. The turbo's are trying to spin faster, quicker and not having enough air flow are sucking the thrust's out of them. We have had a couple of supposed warranty turbo's but found this out and had denied them. I spoke with Bruce about this a couple of weeks ago(by the way Bruce I recieved your package and Paul has it.) People need to be responsible when it comes to changing their trucks performance levels. If they do expect it to break eventually and quicker than stock. The manufacturer builds these for the best and longest lasting performance possible. Basically I have seen alot of irresponsible individuals put tuners on that had no business doing this, other than to say they did. My boss has a chevy 2500 with a Duramax and has put on the intake, tuner and exhaust. Has picked up a little better mileage and performance but doen't get crazy with it. It has been on his truck for about 70K now with no problems. He uses it for towing and some long distance traveling. He has been good with his truck, but in the same instance we have customers burning up their turbos for no reason other than stupidity,no common sense. As long as they keep doing this I guess it is job-security for me. I personally don't recommend them but each person is a individual and will listen to every joe-blow on the net.

But seriously, someone needs to get these guy's in the field to see what kind of monsters they have created. How many engineers do you think would change the way they design or redesign trucks after they work on them for a while??????

They do have a expiration date on the bottles, as long as you keep the bottle clean and dry usually you don't have any problems.

Oh boy...(SARCASM) I can't wait until the A/M finds a Urea delete system to fuck with us some more......With what I have read on the SCR's is that it gives the OEM's a out and able to build really dirty diesel's relying on the aftertreatments to clean up their mess... Anyone else see this???? -
Torque Wrench Calibration
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to slim's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
I have a KD torque wrench I purchased about a million years ago it seems, when I worked at a local NAPA, while building my 400 SBC. It worked great and I have used it over the years, only had one problem and NAPA took care of it no questions asked. It got a bit sticky and they sent it in and basically cleaned it and checked it for cal. They responded with a little note showing the cal. and a N/C. They didn't replace anything just cleaned, lubed and check for accuracy. I would recommend KD to anyone. -
If it would be approx. 20% in fuel savings would that not be approx. $ .50 a gallon in savings? That seems like quite a bit to me. For 20 gallons of diesel that should be pretty close to $10.00 cheaper per fill up.

Keith, If you have a Cummins Distributor close to you. Fleetgard has them in a 50 strip bottle. It's been a long time but I think the part # is CC2602.

Do-It_Yourself-er's. Got any stories?
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to DamageINC's topic in The Water Cooler
Okay guy's this one is priceless... 05 F550 turbo has been junk for a while, he had it at a shop and the tech pulled the bearing housing clamp exhaust side. Brought it in and needed a turbo, asked where the rest was...Still on the truck. Questioned why he didn't bring it all in tech said he didn't need it???WTF!!!! Told him we need all of the turbo core, sold it to him and off he went. He just came back on friday metal shavings everywhere. Customer stated that a local Ford dealer installed a "correct" turbo and mine was not correct, questioned the tech as to why it was wrong had no response. Mind you I have been doing this for a long time, we have seen maybe 1 warranty turbo in the last year. We took the pieces in the back and pulled it apart they/there so called tech assembled it cocked and chewed up the vanes ergo the metal shavings found thru-out the turbo. We showed him this and needless to say I had to get one of the owners involved with this. Customer got quite loud, needless to say, the louder you bitch the more you get. Craig the owner instructed me to credit him back and get the turbo rebuilt again and just restock it. Obviously Craig had enough of this guy and bit the bullet. We have been doing turbos for over 30 years and know quite well how to build them. It really pissed me off and I wanted to shove it up this guys ass, but what do I know...I take pride in what we do and the small amount of comebacks shows it. I will sell this turbo again and will be happy when I save the customer a few bucks to get it and get it done right. Needless to say we have his info saved in the system and will watch for him to come in again... -
The Accordian blew it's bellows, Very cool, I thought it would have gotten stuck on something and pulled it down....

laptop reccomendations?
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to dieseldoc's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
After one of the guy's at work used my computer to order some parts on a trusted website we use everyday his computer and mine crashed. I couldn't get mine or his back even with the discs, we sent them out to a local computer shop and had the computers wiped clean. They also added AVG to the system before we got them back. I think the site had something attached to the address, we called them and they denied having any problems, funny thing about it though is the fact they had come out with a new address about 2 weeks later. AVG seems to be working quite well, it has caught quite a few bugs here and there. It runs automatically everyday around lunch so as not to slow me down to much while it runs. I told Keith about this a couple of weeks ago. -

Reminds me of when Honda extended the 1995 Accord emissions warranty,(OBD2 was overlooked then, shame on them) everyone that came in got a free tune up, cap, rotor, wires, plugs and anything else that was complained about. Warranty free for all...It sucked... -
