The plugged egr cooler test?

This post brings back memories of a time that we cleaned intakes and egr's. Way back when...1990 Accords had a real problem with intakes and egr's with carbon build ups. BG came out with a Cleaning system that actually worked very well with very few come backs. Maybe Ford/Navistar needs to look at this repair, might work, might not...But I think it may worth looking into. What's the worst that could happen, you spend about a hour to clean the egr system, if it doesn't work then you start tearing it apart and replacing components of the system. Less time than tear down and fixing as you go. -
Josh, Just make sure after you clean the connector, that you grease it up real good. Nothing pisses you off more than a intermittent light.

Hey Ron most bike shops have cable lubers for the clutch and throttle cables, it should work just fine for your situation with the cable. -
Back when I was at Cummins, we had a similar issue with the oil filter loosing the glue/goo inside and plugging up the pickup and launching engines(5.9). Fram gave a good battle to cover them. Make sure that everything is documented and save all of the parts and pieces of filter that are left/that you can find. You may want to get a oil analysis as well.

Also check the fuel heater, But I have found that the high mileage trucks should have the injectors replaced. The armatures(magnets) that Bruce is refering to might work but it's a crap shoot 50/50 chance that it will work. After that many miles and duty cycles the armatures wear out, I don't know exactly how many times a injector fires but like anything else is does wear out. Here at my shop we can rebuild these injectors, but have problems with the armatures. We have choosen to offer the new Alliant power injectors, Number 1 because of the warranty(2 years plus labor) and 2 because we don't have buy maybe 1 in a 100 that has a warranty issue. Versus about a 1 in about 25 with rebuilts.

At my house I got around 5" on the ground this morning, here at work it's more like only 3". Supposed to get at least another 2-3 by tonight. Looks like I'll be out on the Artic cat tonight /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif -

I can appreciate that, when mine turn 13-14 they decided that their mother is better for them than I am. I haven't seen my kids for almost 2 years now. They are 17-18.

If the bolts were only finger tight, I don't see how it made it 2000 miles???? I think that they were tightened but not torqued, and shook themselves loose. Could be another reason to open a thread on the value of the "TORQUE WRENCH" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif -
Hmmm... Sounds like somebody might be getting special consideration from Ford by doing posts like those. I wonder what "Weiners" like that charge for a C/P job like that????

Okay guy's I have found all of the warranty disclaimers that Superchips has, will post it tomorrow, forgot to bring it home with me today. Just wait till you see this... Let's get this straight. I don't think that anyone of us here has done something to a car or truck that is not factory stock. But I think that the end-users need to be aware of the fact that customizing or changing the vehicle will alter it and in some(not all)cases void the warranty. Of which I will post the facts tomorrow on this subject. In essence there is a law that states that is illegal for a dealer or manufacturer to void a warranty for the installation of a a/m part, whether it be a fender,head light or tuner, the description is actually vague but protects the customer and the a/m suppliers. But does state that if abused will void warranty. Do you guy's see what I am saying? -

Hey guy's was over at my service side of the shop today...They are working on a Duramax, They have the front gear housing off, took a look at it. The Cam sensor and the Crank sensor are both in it, they broke the Crank sensor off and couldn't get it out. Looks like we may have competition for recalls, They don't use any coatings or phenolic compounds on the sensors. The surface of the sensors look like brass and come in contact with the aluminum housings, no orings but looks like drain plug seals to seal them. At least ours are easy to fix. Just think if you had to pull a gear housing to do a recall on the CMP.

So basically what you are saying is that the base programming is there, but has to re-learn or restore some parameters that was lost on the re-program. -
6.0 Oil Filters

On second thought and another look at the filter...It almost looks like a Benz. filter that I used to sell at the Ford dealer. And seeing that it was made in Germany says a liitle bit about it. Any other #'s on the filter? Don't worry about the cigarettes, I think that the Diesel fumes and soot has already done its damage. Just off hand what is the Vise-Grip thing in the background?
