Quote: FWIW.... we don't get anywhere near the goodies you guys do.... Jim don't worry about all the trinkets that they give us down here in Yankeeville, remember that Ford gets it all from China, full of lead and chemicals that have been outlawed here for years but some people in the government have opened the doors to all of their junk, and we are all paying for it now. Just was screwing around and found five more recalls for lead laced products. I am dreading the day that my beer, and rye(Crown) starts coming from there. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cover.gif

6.0 Oil Filters
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to snw blue by you's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It is a LCF filter but does it have the brand or part # on the filter you pulled out? Looks kinda like a Fram. Just off hand be careful guy's, have been seeing quite a few of the 7.3's and 6.0 turbos burning up bearings after a p/m. Have seen a lack of lube at startup and cooking them. Try to crank it over without starting it first to get lube to the turbo. I don't know maybe disconnect the IPR so it doesn't start right up. Has anybody else seen this? -
Yeah go figure, most of them are Lawyers...And to think they think we're thiefs.

4X4 engages, sometimes

Quote: Also possible is that the truck may be overdue for a spindle service. The large seals in the steering knuckles can leak enough vacuum to keep the hubs from operating properly... They may leak when rotating but seal fairly well when stationary (or vice versa). They can be tested with a hand vacuum pump. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of this... Thanks Jim you explained it a whole lot better than I could /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif -
Remember I live in the sticks 60 miles west of Detroit, I just work there and pay my employment tax to them(the rat bastards). Check out anything online with Kwamye Kilpatrick, I think thats how he spells his name, Detroits Mayor that is robbing the city blind and sees no problem with it, not to mention he nailed one of his coworkers Christine Beatty, he says and I quote "God has put me on a mission" He is trying to hide all of the evidence that he has cheated on his wife and perjured himself in court, on a special deal back from a court case that he fired some of the cops trying to bust him for the affair. He is a piece of work, he makes Colman Young our last POS Mayor look like a saint. CHECK IT OUT.http://www.clickondetroit.com/scandal/index.html Oh yeah, If you don't know what you are working on, leave it the fuck alone. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

4X4 engages, sometimes
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to dc's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
Well, I see your from Montana, obviously real cold there, and you use the 4wd all the time. What about your ESOF switch, does it change from 2-4 real crisp or a little loosey-goosey, seen those go bad too. Other than that I have seen the thick axle seals go bad and leak pressure causing a no shift situation, but usually is not intermittent. -
Okay guy's update... my customer came back by the way it was the City of Detroit Water and Sewer's tech... Found out he was doing a pm and couldn't get the filter out and grabbed a screw driver and pryed it out needless to say broke/fucked up the 9G282. He brought it into me and it was fucked up. Got one coming tomorrow for him and needless to say he is going to get the D/A(dumb ass) pricing.

Ford gets pissed if we do to much warranty and looks down on us but if we don't then the customers will be buying the other trucks out there. I really think that the place Ford needs to force into early retirement is upper management, let us do our jobs and fix in the field all of the short-comings of the so called engineers that Ford has fucking up our world. If Ford really wanted to build a so called JOB ONE vehicle then put the responsibilty back on the ones that designed it and have them fix it. Gee maybe Ford wouldn't be so quick to fuck us all over on SRT's and diag. of problems that they haven't even seen yet because they really haven't had real world testing. If you guy's remember I had seen these 08's all over in my neck of the woods, but all they were doing was driving 8-10 hours a day on 2 lanes doing 55-60 mph, no real city or real heavy work(like on job sites) These trucks are supposed to be SUPERDUTY's. What does that mean anymore? The grocery getters for the well to do people that get pissed because it regens to frequently, Why do you think? No load, not working like it should? The people bitchin the most are the ones that work them the least. Sorry I'm feeling a little Jim-like here right now.

Aaron just think how good the Molson or Labatt is going to taste when you leave work.

LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to dc's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
Could it be your range switch? I have seen moisture intrusion and corrosion there at the connector, but usually have more problems pop up because of the corrosion. -
That sounds pretty good, but I can't stop thinking about the guy's up in the great northern woods of Canada, -40 below just scares the shit out of me. In Cal. or the south I think that if this system proves reliable would be awesome /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif considering the cost of it per gal. As for the 6.4 I would be a little leary being the fact that it is still a fairly new engine and the Warranty Nazi's at Ford are just that, and I could see them kicking back warranty claims just because of the bio.

Well getting tired of driving my skateboard(92 Saturn SL2) I am going to look at all 3 Ford,Chevy, and Dodge. Don't know what I'll get but it definitley has to be a quad cab and 4wd. It won't be brand new but I figure 2-3 years old would be okay. I drive to many miles, the lease turn in killed me, way over on miles.

Yeah it's a serious looking truck. Just off hand I deal with Nollenberger IH all the time. Good people down there. Pretty decent parts dept. to deal with.

That's what I told my customer, but once again they know better. Thanks Guy's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

Hey guy's need some help... Just called my old shop but got no where with them. On the frame mounted pump/module/filter assy. I had a customer come in today was changing out the filter and he said that from what I could get from him that the stand tube in the housing came out along with a spring and a thick oring(about a inch OD and just shy of 1/4 thick) Has anybody come up with a kit or replacement for this oring? It's not in the filter kit.

More 6.0L Cooling Issues
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Coolcat390's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Was it pitted and cavitated or was it broken like a bolt or dowel or something else came loose? Or maybe a front end accident problem that wasn't caught? -
I guess this would give a new meaning to all of the bumper stickers out there...Ford pissing on a Dodge,Chevy pissing on a Ford, and Dodge and Chevy pissing on each other.

Quote: ." Wanna good laugh? At the beginning of every race the little one shouts "boogety boogety boogety - lets go racing boys!" Even when good `ol D.W. isn't commentating she steps up. Keith want a better one, I still do say that for every race, even the ones I'm at. As for Aaron give me a call or p/m or email, if you guy's are coming to the race my home is your home. And yes we do have indoor plumbing, and this new fangled thing call a ice box. Who would have thought Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch would beat the cry baby Tony Stewart...I love JR "88" but still can't stand the rest of Hendricks "RAINBOW" warriors. -
Aaron, If you had a guy come in for a CMP recall and noticed a... just say for shits and grins a upper rad hose leaking and didn't tell the customer about it(because your not allowed to upsell retail) and just let him go on his way, he got 3 miles down the road, overheated and locked up the engine. Your the last one to touch the truck and you had seen a problem but didn't notify the customer of this, guess what you and your dealer just bought him a new engine. I think you just aren't reading this right. It all of our jobs to use the tools avail. to us including(Jim will love me for this one)OASIS. If we run it and it shows something that needs to be done but hasn't. That would not be upselling Warranty, it would be us doing our jobs and taking care of the ones that keep us working. It's a big circle, The sales dept sells the truck, makes ungodly promises that they know can't be kept, and is up to us to make the customer happy enough to come back and buy more trucks from us in the future. The more we do the more the customer respects and expects from us. Sometimes I think that we could get rid of the sales dept's all together and just do it all including selling the trucks to, which in essence is what we do every day, but don't get compensated for it.

New Jersey Lincoln dealer oil change gone awry?

Quote: thank God for the "Murphy switch" Jim /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif I'm glad I'm not the only one that has seen the Murphy systems. I just wish that the oe's would start using them. They have been around since 1939, almost as long as you /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif just kidding. It would be nice to see something more like the Murphy switch on some of these vehicles. Force the customers to hold the button down until oil pressure builds and is able to fire the engine. Check it out http://www.fwmurphy.com/products/magnetic_switches_Tattletale/standard.htm As for the other dealer and the Lincoln, I think that there is more than what has been said. The other dealer deserves the right to respond as to what happened to the car. Anybody out there remember sending the older used cars to auction and putting Motor honey,STP, and any other thick goo in the oil just to quite down the rod knocks? Who knows what was done to the car before or during the service visit, it's a he said/she said. But the other dealer needs to respond to the complaint with his/their side of the story. -
