  1. Thanx guys, you confirmed what I vaguely remember being the truth. I priced out a pair of manifolds. Funny thing is there are no broken bolts and it looks like there is a gaskes there but rotted away in the rear of the left side manifold. If this leak is pure rot theN I hope the head is not rusted up.
  2. Do exhaust manifold gaskets exist for a 2001 7.3L in an F350? I could swear they do but my parts guys cant find em listed for later models.
  3. Anybody care to wager when mods and hacks are going to start showing up for the new 6.4 engine? I can't wait to see what they are going to try and do with this engine.
  4. I do like the way Cummins engines sound. Some of the Dodges, not all but some really sound nice. I suppose some are modified though.

  6. I have seen similar trucks with an exact description and rundown. Yeah, it pisses you off when you are a mod tolerant dealer (to a point) and a customer !@#!?$! LIES to you! I just want to know what the hell happened. Here's the problem. You know this crap goes bad on it's own so did he abuse it till it broke or did the parts go bad? Flip a coin and then bend over. Next, what can you do about it? The warranty manual, owners manual, PCED and a cute little sticker under the hood make mention of aftermarket modifications and voiding the warranty. Great! Can we prove it? how DO you void a warranty repair? Do you call 9-1-1 to get the warranty police or do we call Ford and tattle on the customer? Does it make me feel ripped off? YOU FREAKIN BET IT DOES!
  7. I cracked the weld on one of those tubes by moving that tube around. I would be afraid to bend one intentionally. With my luck I would break em all and that would definately suck. Poppin that cover off works just fine for me but if bending the tube works for you then more power to ya.
  8. "Where better technicians are better informed? " /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif FWIW there is a lot of new stuff in that training course but it is NOT difficult to understand and the mastery exam is easy to pass if you simply pay attention. The reason for taking the course is to LEARN! Better informed? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif I hope that is not a reflection of what's really going on over there at FRT.
  9. You don't have to remove the turbo or do anything as risky as bending the cooler pipe. If you removve the little cover bolted onto the top of the oil cooler that the other end of the hose is attached to you can slip the hose and the little cover out in minutes. But beware that the cover seal might not be in reuseable condition.
  10. Had to see for meself and that thread is a doozie! They are actually getting angry with people who think its a bad move or aren't going to pay. Are those dudes pissed off at the world or something? I never joined the tech to tech forum but even if they let me in and I could get back onto the diesel forums why should I post anything and let them collect for it? !@*!#?! them! Oh wait! Thats their job! they know better.
  11. What is this? Ford is rating US? That takes a BIG pair of hairy round ones! Can somebody explain this to me? I Need to ask my manager about this crap
  12. This is an old thread but the latest FICM flash seems to be a broad application! At least we were told the what, how and why for this one.
  13. thats COOL! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  14. Last year we were high in transmissions. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif Ummmm. Me and my manager looked at each other and then asked our rep if he knew that there were two recalls out on the torqshift. We were high in diesel claims too but I dont think anything ever came of it. We do legit work so they really had nothing on us. Hey, these freaking trucks were breaking left and right. What do they expect? Oh and I wasnt implying that your work wasnt legit. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
  15. I think that they have been on backorder for like the last year! I heard that some were delivered but I think that Ford is still filling orders to dealers that need the equipment. I was monitoring the RTTP web site and they were not available. Just checked and Rotunda shows anything needing a VCM is backordered. The PDA kits are no longer available or at least the site says thay are no longer taking orders for them?!?! I guess we will have to go and round up all the parts seperately. If i recall I thought I heard that they were coming out with a hard case for the PDA and VCM.
  16. I was watching some warranty talk live on fordstar during lunch and they were talking all about diesel claims. I dont know squat about warranty but it seems to me that if you follow the diagnostic sheets and the pinpint tests you should be fine. They also covered TSB s and a caller asked about a lot of labor operations that dont exist. If you have to do things that are more than what you find documented you must be real good at writing what you did and have seperate punch times. There is no reason to not get paid for legitimate work.
  17. Pete, thats a good way to test those ground circuits. It is possible to test a ground with an meter and have it show exellent continuity but put a load on the circuit and it couls still show a failure. Sounds like you covered everything. Did you try a new PCM and did it fix it? just wondering how you made out with it. I also heard some performance chips can cause the KAM code too
  18. At what point is stuffing an engine like the 6.4 become unthinkable? Man, is our product line screaming for a smaller diesel or what? I was watching Fordstar today anp people were asking questions about diesels in the F150 and so on. A smaller inline six would be ideal to allow for the extra crap bolted onto these things now with all the new emissions coolers filters and traps. If we could all put our balls back in our pockets and end the torque war maybe some sensible efficient engines could be made And why a V-8 anyway?
  19. Are you freakin kidding me? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif 25K on an oil and filter interval??? How could they even consider that? Even if the oil IS that good I still wouldn't leave it in one of these engines that long. Oh the humanity!
  20. Hey! Who redecorated? I reprogramed a couple of these and it worked! I was skeptical I admit but I still wonder how many will still need an injector or two Time will tell I suppose
  21. Wireless in a shop is definately the way to go. At my dealer we have been running LAN lines to all of the toolboxes that need them and the router was full. The company put in a wireless LAN when we got IDS and the guys with laptops can connect so I guess wee wil be pullin out the wires.
  22. If you think that is painful you haven't lost your balance while climbing around under the hood of a Superduty and hung yourself on the hood latch. I also slid right onto it hard /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif Now I cover the latch withfolded fender covers.
  23. Never seen a cracked head on one of these. A lot of corrosion but no cracks. Ford still uses older parts for the 2003 and 2004 if I am not mistaken. I had a problem with a 2004 truck that needed a head and the gaskets and dowel size were wrong. After a certain engine build date they supposedly all take the so called commonized part. I t sounds like International is taking a leap and putting all ugraded parts on their engines. Ford will never do that. Their policy is and always has been that if it's not broken they won't pay. We are not to just install parts because they have been updated. No no no. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/readthis.gif
  24. I attended the "basic" course years ago at a Cummins Metro Power satellite training center in Denville. It covered the diagnostic program and simple procedures like R&R injector... but my dealer has never sold any. (everybody wants a CAT engine) I did see one come in a few years ago and we sent it away because we simply were not equipped to work on it. As far as Cummins Metro Power I have only heard good things but no personal experience. Side note: I have now driven a medium duty with the Cummins, both Power Strokes and the CAT engines. OF them I liked the CAT best with the 7.3L second! I guess the 6.0 (VT 365) was a mental thing for me as I was expecting more of the umph I am accustomed to. And remember, Dodge does not make the Cummins engine but a Cummins engine certainly makes the Dodge! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
  25. I got mine a few weeks ago. How does this work? Is the money we win in the Spin to win on there and when is the cash put on the card? Anybody?
