  1. I do a lot of tranny work and I bought a new impact that was quite a bit heavier, and ended up blowing out my shoulder.
  2. Yea, It's really Southboro Mass. which is a hop skip and jump away from Boston.
  3. I'd ask him if he wants 5 head bolts per cylinder.
  4. I wouldn't go any further with anything until I got the VGT learn to say yes. Use tsb 06-24-06. It's worked for me every time.
  5. Quote: ICP sensor (sorry, ICPSRO PDQ FUKBHG - did I miss anything?) Ah, Mr. Pogo you spread glorious sunshine around on my cloudy days.
  6. Left today at lunch after standing around all morning. Went to an 18 wheeler shop and replaced an injector cup for them on a '99 F-550. A jobs a job right?
  7. Just curious, does plugging in the block heater change anything?
  8. Plenty of coked turbos here, we have piss poor fuel and lots of idleing.
  9. It's amazing how many pages this topic has made it to.
  10. I would put two pressure gages on this old girl when its cold. Put one where the sending unit goes and the other on the bottom left side of the engine back at the last bell housing bolt. You'll see a tiny little plug hanging out that is a square drive. Put the second gage there. This can give you an indication of a pressure loss from the bottom to the top of the motor if there is a split between the two. If they both read low or high at the same time then you can chase a base oil problem. Had one once that had a crank replacement and a main bearing was left out. The above procedure once instrumental in finding it.
  11. Not only that but it makes for a long day, even if you are making time and getting paid. There are lots of other jobs coming thru the door that don't take as much out of ya. Luckily we have a couple of guys at my dealer that we can rotate the shit jobs out on.
  12. I actually find it easier and quicker to get the passenger valve cover off, due to having more room once the motor mount is out. The mount comes out very easily and is actually pretty tech friendly in my opinion.
  13. Quote: But I come from an era that espoused "zero defects". When I started Ford had a 12 month 12000 mile new vehicle warranty and it rarely got used!!!
  14. Well things were so slow today that I talked to my boss at Okemo mountain and I am going to work there tomorrow and Wednesday. I guess $11 bucks an hour is better than $0 bucks an hour. I'll try it at the dealership again Thursday. Not sure how long our doors are gonna be open at this rate.
  15. I would ship it to another dealer so you don't screw up your level 1 status.
  16. It's pretty wild that these engines will run with a tripped inertia switch. Not well mind you but they will run. We get them all the time after they stuff the truck into a snow bank while plowing.
  17. Yeah, we have had about 7 guys come in complaining about the trans in these things. I had to go out and show a couple of them hoe to plow "properly". Imagine that a guy from the South showing a 5th generation Vermonter a thing about plowing.
  18. Found this interesting for anyone who deals with snowplows. Quote: 1968 - 2008-2009 F-SUPER DUTY 5.4L AND 6.8L - 5R110 TRANSMISSION REVERSE ENGAGEMENT PROTECTION STRATEGY 2008-2009 F-SUPER DUTY 5.4L AND 6.8L APPLICATIONS EQUIPPED WITH A 5R110W AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ARE EQUIPPED WITH A TRANSMISSION PROTECTION STRATEGY THAT MAY CAUSE SOME CUSTOMERS TO EXPERIENCE SYMPTOMS OF; INTERMITTENT DELAYED REVERSE ENGAGEMENT, NEUTRALING OUT IN REVERSE, OR LOSS OF ENGINE POWER IN REVERSE, WHEN PERFORMING REPETITIVE ENGAGEMENTS AND DRIVE-AWAY EVENTS SUCH AS DURING SNOWPLOWING. THIS TRANSMISSION PROTECTION STRATEGY CAN PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN A NEUTRAL STATE AFTER CERTAIN CRITERIA (VEHICLE AND ENGINE SPEED LIMITERS) ARE MET WHILE REVERSE GEAR IS SELECTED. USAGE IN 4X4 LOW RANGE CAN ALLOW THE ENGINE SPEED LIMITER (3400-3750 RPM) TO BE REACHED MORE EASILY. ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A "COMPLETE" STOP BEFORE SELECTING REVERSE CAN REDUCE ACTIVATION OF THE SPEED LIMITER STRATEGY.
  19. Quote: 2008 Econoline chassis conversion....Fritolay truck SRS light on, unable to communicate with RCM...has some really shady add-on pats/power control system have pulled every hair out and am contemplating burning this daggum thing Gary, I had one of these things in bay a couple of weeks ago. Ditto on the cheesy aftermarket crap in these things. Mine had a idle shutdown deal on it so it will only run for 3 minutes once it is idling in park. A fuel saving thing I guess......(making rasberry sound).
  20. Alldata gives 2.2 hrs plus a 0.5 hrs for boost test and 0.2 hrs to clean cac tube.
  21. We use number 2 heating oil at the mountain in all the diesel powered vehicles, groomers, auxilary engines for the lifts, snow making compressors, ect. The aux. units are mostly Cummins with a Detoit Diesel thrown in there and some wierd ass v-10 twin turbo oil cooled diesel thing that came out of an airplane I think. The fuel is actually pretty nice to handle because it doesn't smell quite as bad when you spill in on yourself, which is gonna happen when you have to lug the stuff up the mountain 10 gallons at a time on the back of a ski-doo sled.
