  1. I know everyone has most likely seen a busted up 6.4 by now, but this is our best yet. I thought I would share. This truck came in for a radiator and the tech did the damage on his test drive afterwards. You can scratch this one off of the list of reusable cores!!! Never in my career with Ford have I seen such a fragile and at the same time explosively violent powerplant.
  2. Yes even down South, the smoke control became an issue with the addition of an intercooler.
  3. The heater is for cat convertorless trucks. If the truck is equipped with a DOC then it doesn't have the heater, if does not have the DOC then it came with the heater to control white smoke.
  4. The headlights of the police cars are actually tailpipe sniffers. Little buzzers go off on the dash and wont go out til the offending vehicle is dealt with.
  5. WHAT? the devil you say. See what happens when I go to school for a couple of days?
  6. Quote: Fine is $10,000 if I recall rightly. You are correct in that, sir. If a mechanic at a shop removes or does the tampering he or she is the one that will get the punishment.
  7. Let see what I can add to the list.......um, yeah make sure the brake lights illuminate.
  8. You doing these in chassis or cab off? Just being nosey.
  9. Cut torwards your buddy, not your body!
  10. Thats how its spelled in the South, bud. Slim can you back me up on this?
  11. Oh, and.....get a haircut, hippie.
  12. The fuckin guys you pay to pump it ain't too bright either. Of course there is a wicked language barrier to deal with also. I speak proper Southern English by the way! I was down a the lower end of New Jersey at the Phillie training center getting my CVT cert and told the guy to fill it up. I ended up with 1/2 tank of gas in my Explorer and could not convince this potatoe head it wasn't full.
  13. We had a guy that bought one off fleabay for about 200 bucks cheaper. It didn't work but was guaranteed. By the time the second one arrived and was installed, he was out of his truck for about 6 weeks and 400 or 500 bucks more than if he had just followed the normal avenue.
  14. I hate ASE's with a passion, BUT I have em and now I am damn sure gonna keep them current.
  15. Just did one recently. It was ambulance and they didn't want to dick around. It got both heads and everyone, especially me, is happy.
  16. Get people in all the time wanting snow tires on the front only. Not allowed to do it, PERIOD!
  17. Welp, I held out as long as I could. I am going to class on Sept 8-10. Ford enrolled my all on their own.
  18. I have put quite a few of these in. They are the cats ass so to speak. If you are doing one of the early 99 or "98" models with the small turbo you will also have to replace the air duct that goes from the filter housing to the crankcase depression regulator inlet adaptor. I have the part number at work, its kinda tricky to hunt down on the microphish.
  19. I would like to say that anybody that is on this site and works at an Independent shop has my respect. You wouldn't be on here if you were one of the parts changers I mentioned in my above post. Like Jim said there are good and bad techs at both dealerships and indys. I hope no one here takes offense at anything I have said, it is not directed at you personally.
  20. Quote: 05 taco trd with a 6spd. Uh..... I hate to correct you, but turd is spelled with a "u" not trd.
  21. The only good thing to be said about a car that comes to the dealer after an indy throws in the towel: Its super easy to fix because they have already put every part they can think of on the car except for the right part. Now its just a matter of putting on the only part that hasnt been replaced.
  22. I used to dread doing 3v tune-ups, now that I have that tool I actually upsell spark plugs.
  23. If we are talkin previous vehicles, then I am ashamed to say that we have owned not 1, not 2, but 3 Aerostars!
