  1. The only reason i don't think its a bad idea is because of this. Why not. I wont reuse head gaskets if the head comes off, but how would you be doing long term damage if nothing is being majorly disturbed. This is stuff i saw in the shop. There is a reason i left. And Aaron....when i meant clean off the gasket i meant take a wire brush and he cleaned the stainless steel tabs on each corner of the head gasket so if anyone asked if he changed them then he pointed to the newly cleaned gasket.
  2. I've seen a tech change a torqshift for a broken SGNL wire to the PCM. It was customer pay too. He went on to stab me in the back after i called him out on a repair. He also "replaces" a lot of branch tubes on 6.0 vans. I wonder why he booked so much and didn't work as hard as he booked
  3. I can count on one hand how many "major" repairs ive seen/done in the dealership on V10's. I was there 5years. Usually it was because of lack of maintainence. The companies that use only V10's instead the 6.0L rave about how much they love them, and we BARELY saw them in the shop. I think my minds made up. V10 it is. (with the longest extended warranty). Maybe I will lease it until the 6.7L comes out?
  4. Yes. There is a detail instruction on some diesel mag site. What they did to get to the back ones is unbolt the trans mount and jacked up the rear of the trans...then they just put the studs in. I knew a guy that "replaced" head gaskets but i watched him do one head stud at a time...then clean off the gasket to make it look new....glad im outta that shop. But it worked...those trucks ran awesome and the owner was happier then shit.
  5. There is a average 1-2year lifespan on a PC but 8-10year on a mac (IMHO) PC's are great..if you don't have to connect to the internet. Spyware/adware/virus software slow down your computer sooooo much. I'm happy with the iMac i have. Wait til you learn the apple/command shortcuts....cuts all your time in hald.
  6. damnit...maybe i should wait for the scorpion
  7. Well, im slowly getting a go-ahead from my dad to get a company vehicle to drive around besides my work explorer. I'm not to impressed with the new 09 F-150 so naturally i want to go with a 250-350 (if i can really pull some strings 450). I will mainly use it to chug around/daily driver, tow enclosed trailer no longer then 30ft and/or 30ft boat. I'm having a real tough time deciding between a 6.4 or V10. I don't know if i trust the 6.4 yet enough to be confident when i leave for long trips (my parents cottage) that i wont have to worry about it breaking on me. Being outta the business for 8months what do you guys think? Should i go with a 6.4 or should i just get the V10. Dwayne I know you are partial to the V10.....what do you guys think?
  8. Ive had PC's my whole life....loads of problems with countless different makers. I never kept a computer for longer then 2 years. Majority of my friends have macs and they keep their computers for 5-10 years and never have problems. I bought a new 24'' iMAC and i love it. I dont have to worry bout viruses, no spyware, its crazy fast. I don't think i'd go back to PC's again.
  9. They are going to sell a TON of these. I would buy one, im going to tell my parents to buy one. I'm not big on sedans, but I would buy one in a heartbeat. If they make the SHO an awesome vehicle i beat they will get into the younger demographic. I saw more 18-25yr olds bringing in SHO's to the dealership when i worked there.
  10. I feel asleep on the couch at 5pm.....i got woken up to micheal jacksons "beat it" video on VH1 with a caption underneath stating he passed away. I was never really into his music but i admired what he went through and his successful career as being the biggest pop star ever. I didn't think it would phase me, but thats crazy. R.I.P. Farrah and MJ
  11. i have a IL motorcycle plate off my crotch rocket from last year.
  12. how did you inbed that keith? i tried all the codes on youtube?
  13. Im surprised no one has mentioned this ad yet. It's real funny, def worth a watch.
  14. Yea, i agree with everyone here. You need to get your service manager involved and get Hotline to back you up on this. Tell the owner too the dangers of doing the job. You don't want to soil yours/dealerships name for something like this.
  15. That sounds like a hefty job....but do you trust a Ford Reman engine anymore?
  16. This is not the place to talk about this because keith already mentioned to stick to the topic. I went off topic and spewed my thoughts that everyone doesnt agree with. But you are forgetting what happened in the great depression when the gorvernment didnt do anything.....that was the worst thing they couldve done....NOTHING.....Obama's "UN NEEDED SPENDING," did you fall asleep the past 8 years? ALl the top economist's are saying Obama is doing exactly what is needed to get this country moving again. I honestly don't know how this will all pan out. Deep down i feel that if the unions don't agree to some "reasonable" agreement, all the jobs that would have been lost if GM and Chrysler failed, will still be lost when those companies ship the jobs overseas to save money. The only thing you guys at the dealership can do, is do what's right and remember that the customer is paying your paycheck. Shitty work will only come back to haunt you. I'm glad Ford is doing well, and they are putting out car's people want. How bout the 2010 taurus....i think that is going to be a hit.
  17. How many times in your shops have you heard, "well, it's not MY job to do that."
  18. I remember now....mine happened very int. and also the glow plug light came on never had codes. I traced it to the wiring harness over the left hand valve cover by the FICM. It was on the ICP/IPR CKT's were chafed together causing that exact same thing. i found it by having someone sit in the drivers seat hitting the accel pedal, and i yanked on the harness around the engine bay til i isolated it to that area when the engine would idle/die. Im 99% sure ure harness is f'd up.
  19. ive had this exact same problem before.....damnit what was the fix.....
  20. I heard at the dealership i left, this year, there is no raises, they are in a mini-audit ( i was waiting for that to happen ), no one is getting extra vacation/sick days and the owner said if anyone mentions the union in the service area he is shutting down the dealership. I was told by the senior master that i got out at the perfect time. I can't believe one of the biggest arguments about bailing out GM/chrysler is to keep american jobs. Obama needs to figure out how to turn us back into a production country and not a consumer based economic system. Now, if/when those jobs get sent out of the country, now you have even more people un-employed, so who is gonna have the money to buy stuff, and their cars. Someone thats not working isnt going to go out and buy a new car. MAybe they may even boycott them for doing it. NOT ONE PERSON has said anything about the UAW driving the work out of the country.
