You know, I saw the broadcast message about the Certification Pays. Does that mean we are getting it up here for once? Or do we still not mean shit to Ford? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif

This recall is still retarded. I give them to the straight time apprentice. That's the way it should be. They don't lose money when they are straight time.

I could be wrong, but I think that the majority of this industry here in Canada anyway became extremely tired of getting a fifty dollar reward only to get a kick in the ass with a friggin T4A at the end of year where the Government asked for their share of you wonderfull reward. I myself gave up on all of these goofy tricks. When I used to go to the Shop Foreman meetings in Edmonton, the topic of the GCR's came up. They couldn't understand why the numbers of GCR's being submitted was drastically dropping every year. I had the opportunity of cluing them in: It is simple, Flat rate techs don't get paid to do them to begin with, then they turn into TSB's which cut our throats financialy and then if it is unique, you get a fifty dollar Ata freakin boy with the wonderfull T4A kick in the ars at the end of the year just to give back to the damned government anyway. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif So yeah, I totally agree with you Jim. They try to reinvent what works and don't do anything about what is broken. Man it almost sounds like we are talking about the Sick-0's and 6.4's. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

I'm gonna go freak out for a little bit...
DwayneGorniak replied to DamageINC's topic in The Water Cooler
We look up our own times here as well Tony. And we will go over the R.O's together with our Assistant Service manager and Warranty Clerk to make sure there is nothing we missed and to make sure we are on top of the warranty Nazi's. Our Assistant Service Manager will even go to our District Operations Manager (Ford Rep) if she has to go over the Nazi's heads. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boxing.gif -
I think your right Keith. I havn't heard anything about Blue Oval in along time. It would be nice if they sent out a memo or bulletin to elaborate when they decide these things. but then again, maybe they did and no one cared to notice.

Try doing exploratory surgery for TSB 07-08-09 where the 6.4L crankcase level is at 25 litres in 6000 km's and Hotline has you inspect every freakin injector and injection pump, only to find no leaks. Then they tell you to quit wasting time and put it back together and punt it out the door. And they tell you that 6.4L's make oil over extended amounts of idling due to regen washing down the cylinders and fuel getting past the rings. then they kick the repair order back over and over. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gifLuckily, we have a policy here: Tech gets paid no matter what. Service deals with the the problem in the end. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif Not saying your situation is any better. I just understand. -
Flushing Oil Coolers?
DwayneGorniak replied to Coolcat390's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I agree Tom. I see quite a few 03's with issues, just not as much as the 04 and newer units. I have an 03 F-550 in pieces right now for head gaskets and both coolers. -
Bravo! My frustration with the warranty Nazi's is at the limits. We didn't build these pieces of sh!t. We just try to hang in there and do what we can to keep these fargin self destructing grenades running. I think we should organize a meeting on their door steps and open up a can of woop ass! Just kidding Jim.

Mike, your warranty clerk is full of crap! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

Flushing Oil Coolers?
DwayneGorniak replied to Coolcat390's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
99% of the head gasket repairs I do have restricted engine oil coolers. If they could get the heads to quit lifting off the block and filling the cooling system with carbon or soot, they may get the coolers to quit plugging up. -

Yup, Just open a parts replacement R.O. for each new one. You might actually be able to make some money doing 20 of them in one day. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Try this Bruce https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/Q162R1.pdf and this https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/Q117R1.pdf the main website is this: https://www.fleet.ford.com/ . This is a great site with a ton of information. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gifHope this helps you. I almost forgot. To find these bulletins from the main website, click on the Showroom tab at the top left and then at the bottom of that click Truck Body Builders/Upfitters. 6.0L head jobs being done half fast
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I am just putting an engine back together that I had the heads off of. So I thought I would pay particular attention to this. I threw the intake back on after I had the heads all done up and did not bolt it down right away like I normally would. I threw the turbo and Y-pipe on and bolted them down. then I looked at how these Tards can lift the intake on each side to get at those bolts and they can. However, for the extra ten or fifteen minutes that it would take to get the turbo and Intake off I say these guys are nothing more than a bunch of autwreckers that got hired as diesel techs. Still a bunch of fargin Hacks! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif In fact, I think you would fight more with the intake trying to hold it up then having it off. -
Engine Hours Data

6.0L head jobs being done half fast
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
See that's another thing that ticks me off Larry. We are constantly growing our clientel and getting customers that just had the head gaskets done and now the EGR and engine oil coolers have to be done or vise versa. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif -

Anyone *rebuilding* the 6.4???
DwayneGorniak replied to DamageINC's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines

My apprentice found himself in a discussion with a couple of other techs from other dealerships about 6.0L head gasket jobs. They are all in college right now for their third year apprenticeship. These other techs were wining about the fact that they can only get 13.5 hours for a set of heads and all the journeymen at their dealerships are upset about it. they are also upset that their warranty clerks won't even try to get them any more times. He had also proceeded to tell me that these guys can do a set of gaskets in 12 hours by removing the cab. I was shocked. As I was quizzing him about this, he proceded to tell me that these guys do not even remove the intake, turbo, or the Y-pipe. They only undo the y-pipe from the exhaust manifolds, leave the the y-pipe clamped to the turbo and egr cooler, then remove the intake bolts from the cyl heads and slide the heads out from under the intakes and then replace the gaskets and slide the heads back in./forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif So I asked my apprentice what these guys are doing when they find that the EOT is 25 degrees hotter than the ECT. He proceded to tell me that these guys are just diving right in and doing the head gaskets and punting them because they do not get paid enough for the job. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/surprise.gif My responce: Well no Fuckin Wonder these Hacks aren't getting paid any more! If you do absolutley no Fuckin diag and only half the friggin job, why the hell should anyone pay you any more than the 13.5. In fact, why the hell should these hacks even get paid the 13.5 if they havn't even diaged the Fuckin Job? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif So I proceed to tell my apprentice to tell these friggin hacks to read the friggin TSB from begining to end. If they diag it properly and find like I do that the Oil cooler is failed on 99% of these trucks and the Egr cooler is failed on most of them as well, they can charge for the appropriate diag operations and actually get paid more. However, this requires the use of an intelligent brain and some actual diagnosis and labour. If you don't do the work and don't replace the parts, why the hell should anyone pay for that? This brings me to the points that I see Jim and myself make alot: the pen is mightier than the sword. If you know what the hell it is you are supposed to be doing and you know how to wright a good story, you will get paid. If you are nothing more than lazy, you get exactly what you deserve. NOTHING! The other thing that really pisses me off about this kind of shit: Ford sees that these assholes warranty costs are down and that dealerships like mine are through the friggin roof. These assholes make it really bad for dealerhips that have technicians that care and do the jobs propperly. Dealerships like mine are under constant scrutiny by the Ford Warranty Auditors and these asshole dealerships look great because they do not have the brain capacity to figure out how to get more money by doing the job properly. Reminds me of another discussion we had lately with the name of Rick Impey in it. Therefore, I beleive that people like I see on this site who do their jobs proffesionaly have all the right to bitch about how little we get paid for doing the job correctly. But it just burns me to know that all these friggin hacks make things so damned bad for us. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif Why in the hell does Ford never look into that crap? Sorry for the long bitch session, I just needed to get that off my chest.

Anyone *rebuilding* the 6.4???
DwayneGorniak replied to DamageINC's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Is it just me or does it seem that they are tying to do everything humanly possible to patch these things as cheap as they can and keep their heads above water? Between the warranty costs that are through the roof in expensive parts and intensive labour and the court cases and lawyer fees they keep trying to cheap out on repairs and cut our throats more and more every day on labour costs. It's no wonder they are losing the backbone of this industry wich would be professional techs like everyone I hear from on this site. Sorry for the highjack. -

I just did a crankshaft on one for the front snout being bent by .004". Cracked the oil pump cover, stretched the belt, and rattled the ever living snot out of the tensioner. 6.1 for cab R&R and 13.9 for a crank. I lost me arss. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif We don't have the proper engine stand for the job. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif -
Jim, how did the bastardized engine you were working on turn out?
