6.0 horror story found on internet
Aaron replied to BrunoWilimek's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Quote: They assigned a new case guy to me. He calls and says he's researched my problem and I've put gasoline in my diesel engine and the mechanic he's talked to with 30 years experience working on diesel engines told him that I would need to change the spark plugs and ignition wires and distributor on my engine. I offered to set up him a place to bring that dumb ass down to change the spark plugs in that diesel engine complete with bleachers for 200 of my buddies to watch this magical feat. He says I'm harrassing him again and hangs up. I guess he gets his feelings hurt easily. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif Quote: Next morning put the rest of the either in it and got it to work. Left at lunch time with the help of a new can of either. Limped it into the Dodge dealership. By some miracle of something, it started when the Dodge dealer went to test drive it. We agreed to a price but I'd forgot title at office. Had to pour more either in it to go get title, just left it running until I had a Dodge and they had it. Next morning Dodge Dealer goes to move truck to back of lot and calls to ask how to start it. I tell him there's part of a can of either under rear seat. Haven't been to the Dodge place since, and don't suppose I'm welcome there any more than I am at the Ford place. now THAT had me rolling. -
BURNED! I refer you gentlemen to my signature below /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif :

The last couple I've changed did this after I attempted re-start. Scared the hell outta me on the first one, thought I dropped something down the damn intake!

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif Why do you do this every time again, you explained it to me once but I forget. Is it like "HIGUYS" like Special Ed from Crank Yankers? "YAAAAAAAAY We're gonna go see Air bud! YAAAAAAAAAAY!"

C01 (W) - Customer reports lack of power and hard start. Please inspect and report basic part numbers to verify ESP Coverage. -
LMFAO! You are SO right with this it's not even funny! I bet the first kit that came out, only had two, and they had a shit-whack of complaints about it! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

If I was gonna guess, it's like on a CR like a duramax or a cummins, when they use a second CP3 pump to make up for the miniscule drop in pressure when an injector opens. If I was to guess, this is the same system, only for oil.I don't know any hotrod 7.3 guys that are at that power level! -

Checked that photobucket account for any other cool pics of that motor: -
+1 On the book. I have one of those pretty much compiled. But it's all stored in a folder on the desktop of a computer that no longer fucking works.

SUMBITCH! I love questions about nitrous/boost. "How much can I spray it?" "400HP Fogger" "Really?" "Yep. Once." -
Quote: Thomas Cook B7191 DAVE LANDON MOTORS LTD PORT HARDY , BC posted Aug 06, 2008 2:40AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do them in the vehicle by lifting the engine and stuffing a 2X4 under each engine mount, gives enough room to drop the pan and everything else. Cut the CAC hoses loose and pull the rad. Robaxacet is good for the twisted back after torquing the mains. I use a ratchet strap on either end of the crank to keep it from dropping. I'm sure others have good info for you. Shit guys, you can do EVERY 6.0 repair in chassis. Hell, there's a guy on the Ford site that does BEDPLATE GASKETS in chassis. He even posted about it! Alex knows what I'm talking about..

I posted this over at the ford site: Got this one today. Tow in with F1.9 20A Maxi blown. Another tech replaced fuse a couple times, it blew right away again. I did all my checks - couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Called hotline, advised to clean and tighten g103, and bellhousing ground. Did that, car started and ran ok. road test ok. Re-road test after lunch, and after about 6-10 miles, pulling away from a stoplight, felt a slight buck/surge. Next light, same thing, but worse. Push throttle harder, problem worsens and low trac light comes on, then car quits. F1.9 Blown. Had no meter with me, but bridged pins at fuse, and got a LARGE arc. started unplugging stuff, and when C144 is unplugged, arc goes away. By the time I got to individual components, it was back to normal. Has anyone seen this? I would like to avoid individually fusing each component. Thanks in advance guys! I am at my wits' end with this. It's waiting for me in the morning. Thanks again guys, let me know what you think or what might be a good direction to take with this.

It's real nice that you have to flush brand new parts before you put 'em on. Injector adventure: http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=15333&page=1#Post15333

I had to take the rear driveshaft and trans crossmember out to get the trans to drop enough to fit my arms/hands up in there.
-
Or damaged the rotors in the front pump when you pulled the converter. I usually pull motor and trans together, then split them on the floor, if they're siezed. Less likely to damage parts that way in my opinion.

"WE FIX CARS RIGHT, SOMETIMES ON THE FIRST TRY." "Whattayamean a V6 mustang doesn't hold 12L of oil...." "I'm the most qualified guy in the shop" "Yeah, WE got 'er fixed" "OK. Let's put an HPOP on it. Hmm...still won't start. Well, let's put a base engine oil pump on it. Ah! Got it! Phew, only took 2 tries that time. Better M-time the whole repair." "I'm going golfing."

I ended up claiming a WHACK of extra M-Time on that van I told you guys about, the wiring harness was routed through the hole in the intake underneath the alternator, and around the ac compressor, NOT behind it, etc etc. I had to take the harness out from around the intake, then remove the compressor and all that other junk to route the harness properly, not including the time to take off the aftermarket compressor drive junk for the refrigerator box, and find bolts for all the bolts missing. Customer is happy as poop that his air conditioning works now (I plugged the clutch coil in) This truck got an EGR cooler in March. That's all. Nothing else. Just EGR cooler.

Has anyone ever seen the episode of the Simpsons where Homer writes a check to the music man? He looks at the guy and goes BO-YOY-YOYINNNNG! shop keeper says to him "Why did you make that noise?" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif That's the warranty claim I am currently working on. EGR cooler recently replaced for white smoke concern. Found ECT/EOT spread of 25* idling in the shop. Customer brought this truck to us with the complaint of the hose (egr cooler return) fucking melted off the degas bottle. Found so far, broken fan shroud (upper and lower), broken fan stator, loose turbo bolts, missing fan stator bolts, missing various other bolts. I have to replace the fan stator & shroud at MINIMUM to perform this repair properly. And the updated fan shroud? Requires replacement of the rad. I bet they're gonna tell me this is over-repair. Like Homer said. Boiiiiiiing!

Seen them chafe INSIDE the temperature-shielded harness on the trans, too.
