  1. Wasn't there an SSM or TSB for this on the 6.4 2008 trucks? Something about the aftermarket air filter causing a check engine lamp? My memory is fuzzy, so I may be wrong, but I can't find it in the archives. Thanks guys!
  2. Anyone by the way tried to do a DPF reset? You notice that when you try the DPF reset, the screen pops up that says "SECURITY ACCESS GRANTED". Almost like PATS keys. I wonder what kind of "Security" is on that DPF reset feature.
  3. Truck on Monday for a recall - no tuner, no dpf delete, customer is getting 19.5MPG. F250 2x4
  4. Early build 04 F-250. No warranty repairs until this one, at 149,000kms. Getting the "Triple Crown" package of head gaskets, oil & EGR coolers. Cab up and heads are off. Blended repair for customer with ARP studs.
  5. It's colder here in SW ontario, than it was in the NWT.
  6. I had to move the HOT/COLD selector a little more out of the blue range and a little more into the overlapping blue/red range, you know, in the middle? I think they call it 'Warm'? Still haven't cranked the windows up yet.
  7. I saw this on a sign - little different, it said 'WE do...blahblah' and it was followed with "What would you like fixed today?"
  8. -24 here, no problems that I have seen yet. Knock on wood, I will go to head out here in a few minutes and my truck won't start.
  9. The only things I know of that restore fuel is a fuel pump (the one at the truckstop or fuel station), and a credit/debit card or cash.
  10. Sounds about right. I've got "Window Licker One" shortbus in right now for an EGR cooler (that's been replaced before by another facility, which said the oil cooler with a 54 degree spread today was functioning correctly at that time.) Still had the orange EGR cooler hose on it.
  11. Well, ya WIENER, if you had installed the o-ring correctly, it wouldn't be leaking, would it? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif So are you on the banned list? check out http://www.fordpowerstrokeforums.com, I'm kind of a big deal over there, so I can keep you in the "Non-Banned" status /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
  12. Yep. 6.4L. Edge Evolution, set on 'Economy'. Shhh! Have not been able to get any higher than about 25-26 since then. Must have had the wind at the back of the truck. This was figured out with a pen and paper, not the economy calculator on the dash (Which, BTW - is pretty acctrate, at least on that trip it was, anyhow.)
  13. I think the commonly accepted spelling is 'Yahweh' /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif I like your avatar, Bruce!
  14. "The parts are on the truck" "Just the tip, I promise." /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif
  15. We have a winner! Myself and Shlep were wondering the same thing last week reading that TSB on break.
  16. Thanks Jim for the kind words, and Dwayne and Larry for the birthday wishes. Wish that my decision to go out there hadn't screwed up my financial life so bad as well as my life here at home, but things will have to sort themselves out over time and I will see what happens. I have been meaning to haul the bolts out of the cab on my 08 and clean the loctite off of them and apply the appropriate (read: half a can) of antisieze to allow for easy removal later on. I averaged 27.8mpg on an unloaded road trip at 105km/h with the 08 on the weekend trip down to my pop's place for Christmas.
  17. The 'is it rack and pinion' question brings to mind a phone call I got when I was at the indy garage. Me: Blahblah automotive, how can I help you Customer: Well, I'm doing my own brakes here. M: Uhh....yeah? C: Yep. And I got this thingamajig M: Fuckin' stop right there. Put the wheels on it and have it towed here. C: But why? M: If you are calling it a fuckin' thingamajig - you shoudn't be doing your own brakes! *click* Edit: Lookit there! I got a birthday cake!
  18. Jim - I don't know if you saw it in the other post, but Mutter mentioned http://www.protechnician.com - tsb's in English before they are translated to french on Inford. Works good!
  19. Flat rate down here in Windsor, but our shop has a 40 hour guarantee so we have some lazy sumbitches working there. Was hourly up at Diavik/Kingland, making about $40 an hour, HOWEVER - 1 month for gas for my house? $577.00 Gas bill here in windsor? $91.00 Yeaaaaaaaah.....I'll stick it out down here for a bit still, methinks. Thing that kinda bites is myself and Shlep.....for lack of a better term, work like....well, I guess I'd better be P.C. but we do more than our share of work, and generally are heavily involved in repairing the 'unrepairable' and other tech's screwups. I can only stand there and shake my head as a guy I like to call "Shortbus" is teaching another guy we call "A.D.D." how to reprogram PCM's using the IDS, resting on the roof of a customer's vehicle. I await the ONLY working VCM in our shop to fall off the roof, or the laptop to cascade off onto the floor and bust into a million pieces. At any rate, I think we get paid alright, but a lot of the time the garbage jobs we end up screwing with for hours and hours at a time to repair so the customer will come back, and not have been charged hundreds of dollars for a repair that was not effective - we generally get...."missed" when it comes down to getting paid for our time. Guy across the hall, before I left to go up north, had a no start 6.0, and Shlep and I spent a LOT of time working on it FOR him, and our combined time, I would imagine, surpassed that of the actual tech getting paid for the job. At times like this, it would be nice to have a second punch ticket to run M/T on for situaitons like this to get paid straight time for them.
  20. 1835 - 6.0L - COKING DEPOSITS DIAGNOSTIC, EGR DTC(S) P0401/P0402/P0404/P1335 SEE TSB 08-26-12 FOR DETAIL 08-26-12 Slash the labor times? Or did we get some new diag info? We can't see it, not in both official languages /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif
  21. The only thing the TSB says is it will lower the longevity of the antifreeze. I remember that Taurus one - if you left that shit in the cooling system it would eat the heater core, radiator, and anything else in it's path.
  22. I used it on tuesday on a 6.0 that had oil in the cooling system. Worked pretty well. STINKS LIKE HELL once it is hot though.
  23. "I don't need instructions! All I need is the exploded view!" As for Bruiser, Jim, something quite awful happened on my way back that I really am having a hard time talking about still...very very negative experience.
  24. I have FINALLY found the quote to replace the "Keep Replacing EGR valves until one passes the test" in my signature /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
