  1. My 355 is over 100% V-E on the dyno between 4000-6700rpm Pump gas, 10:1 naturally aspirated.
  2. Shows the hardware numbers as Unavailable as per our parts manager -- I think there was an SSM or Broadcast message regarding the availability of the O-rings, they were going to service them only as standpipe/plug/etc.
  3. Which is where it comes in handy to have a service manager that was formerly a technician, and sides more with the techs than Ford. If something's genuinely fucked, he'll add the line for you.
  4. "Argo's" (Toronto Argonauts)
  5. I try and avoid them. I'm working on my SECOND econoline diesel of the YEAR tomorrow, and I'm the only diesel guy at our shop, so I'm not stickhandling the vans
  6. Milan's like a Fusion, right? Guy down the hall has done a couple, and Escapes as well -- he likes doing 'em in chassis. He makes time on 'em. The Edge he drops the powertrain out of.
  7. I'd have had another line added to the work order stating: Check engine light on after TSB 09-19-10 performed, normal PC/ED diagnostics required.
  8. Truck comes in today, oil leak complaint. Has had the LH rocker cover and gasket and glow plug harness replaced twice. Well, odds are it isn't the valve cover gasket for the 3rd time in 6k miles. Wash 'er all down. Roadie. No oil. Hmm.... Feed some smoke down the dipstick tube. Ahhhhhh... The tab that holds the dipstick to the turbo crossover support -- the welds have broken off, tube isn't loose, but there's your oil leak. Just a heads up, if it hasn't been discussed or anyone hasn't seen it before.
  9. When I was up at the mine there was a mishap by another tech during a head gasket replacement on a 6.0 that ended in a busted rocker arm and bent pushrod. He pulled the bolt out to replace the rocker pedestal, not allowing for a cold soak, and re-used the bolt. I left not long after that, so I don't know if there were any ill effects. Again, I personally (and it seems as I'm not alone, looks like everyone feels the same way) think that if you loosen a bolt where a multi-layered steel gasket is being used the gasket should be replaced. Just my .02
  10. There is a Nova in the Detroit area...twin turbo big-inch LSx engine. There was a write up on it in Hot Rod awhile back. Holy shit is this thing ever potent. It's a high 8 second ride also, and looks the part of the beater, except for the caltrac bars and the big hoops out back.
  11. I think it's the epitome of 'sleeper'. Can you imagine rolling up beside that in a mildly built street machine at a stoplight and getting your ass handed to you? I think the best part is the rollcage in that car, you can't even see it unless you're looking for it, and it passed NHRA cert.
  12. Un-freaking-believable. http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248388
  13. Wow...our diesel engine cost cap is $8800 and the parts are substantially more, even at Warranty cost, in Canada. I think a DPF is about 300 to 500 bucks cheaper dealer cost at a dealer in Detroit, as opposed to our cost here.
  14. I think we sold one of ours...I only seem to remember seeing one on the lot yesterday. I think that's why the other was in the shop the other day. Wouldn't start because it had been sitting so long.
  15. I got yer arctic air right here...... Someone once said, looking at that picture... "Do you think somewhere, while you're in flight, there's a map with that plane on it, with a little dashed red line following you across the map?"
  16. I've seen ONE on the road since their inception -- that is not one converted to a parts hauler by a Ford store.
  17. Sounds like the voice of experience...
  18. I don't like doing stuff twice. A head set ain't that expensive, when you look at the cost of doing the job again. It's my opinion that any time you loosen a head bolt on a cylinder head with a MLS head gasket you should replace the gasket. But then again, there's an article in diesel power magazine that tells you to remove and wipe off the head gasket before re-installation. *shrug* I dunno. I would refuse to do the job without gaskets, personally. Already in to the point of lifting the body...
  19. Who's working today? I'm sitting at home watching Barrett Jackson Still gotta get out and do some shopliftin, but for now, life is good.
