  1. I am putting the finishing touches on the house I built over the past 3 years, have a 16 month old son, and I'm getting married in about 3 weeks. Enjoy camping, fishing, boating and quading in the summer and mountain snowmobiling in the winter. I also like to build and work on hot rods and classic cars, I just finished building a 475 hp 383 and installing it in a 67 chevy half ton for a buddy of mine.
  2. By 3 minutes, thats a slow tree!!... or a real long track.
  3. Why I'll be f*cked. I'snt that the slickest little tool. Man if i had that a few years ago.........
  4. They fail to realize that by doing so they also reduce customer satisfaction, and the # of repeat customers we rely on to keep the doors open.
  5. Has the rear cover ever been off? I have seen the hp pump gasket get torn when slipping in the rear cover. BTDTGTTS
  6. The screwy thing about the 126 is it compares dealers in like markets to each other. ( grading on a curve ?) So if EVERYBODYS 126 is bad, then who's fudging the numbers. Can only be the guy writing the 126. I think they are trying to scare us into reducing warranty costs.
  7. so hows the back after that one Aaron?
  8. I dont mind working on anything, but our shop doors are only 9 feet high. My bay is about 27 ish feet long before im up against the car in the bay infront of me. If it will fit in, i will do it, but like has been previously said, if it is a quick or simple job i will do it outside, but im not about to re and re a motor or heads out in the lot.
  9. Quote: And boy what a smoke show this thing sure puts out when it's doing it's thing. No doubt hey, i thought it was just cuz the egr was blocked off, maybe not. Apparently diesels arent meant to make vacuum. On a side note, since the egr was dissabled anyways on mine, i removed the throttle plate from the shaft, and left everything else intact. P0488 is a non mil code. Customer was happy.
  10. OK, according to mitchels wiring diagrams, the brake switch has one normaly open and one normaly closed switch. The normaly closed switch(org/wht and ppl wires) signals directly to the body control module, the normally open switch (lt blu/wht and pnk wires) signals the pcm, tcm, trailer provisions,as well as the body control module. The rear brake lights are direct outputs of the body control module. Im thinking you may have an open in the normally closed switch section or wiring, and unplugging the switch would not reverse that. Try jumpering the org/wht and the ppl wires and see what happens.
  11. Yep i have seen exactly that Mike, except mine had an egr cooler block off plate in it. The egr tp plate would hunt and try to create egr flow, but the position sensor was bad. The one i worked on would smoke, cough and backfire. (yes, backfire... i wouldnt beleive the customer.... until i "verified the symptom") The reason i finally figured it out was, during the concern mgp was pinned at 0. The bastard was pulling vacuum. Im assuming that with an open egr system the vacuum created would just pull massive amounts of egr gasses and choke the engine, without the backfire, smoke and coughing.
  12. Quote: maybe that is just because there are fewer manual trans trucks out there. Thats for sure, gotta be a 100:1 ratio at least.
  13. I just did one, local body shop didnt properly fill he system after a dear hit, and burned up the pump. I did like keith said but just poured coolant into the hose (disconnected from vgt cooler), then remove the cac and turn the (little) rad upside down. Worked great.
  14. I think the std trucks lack the advantages of a torque converter, especially in the low end, pull away from stop etc. I find if you use low gear, and get them wound up right away they are ok. Try the newest flash, seems alot peppier than normal, maybe just had a run of good running trucks, I dont know.
  15. Ya, the latest flash is a good one, i have been very impressed with the last few i did.
  16. You could use one of those new 16 volt batteries to keep voltage high enough for a pass or two.
  17. No shit hey. I thought my smallblock screams at 7200. You should have fun finding an acessory belt setup that will stay together at that rpm. (if your going to run one) Should've shot a vid for us!
  18. Not 100% sure but i think alberta engine supply. Im in golden, about 100km from invermere.
  19. Did you remove all your sensors and never seize them Aaron, incase of a roadside repair?
  20. I have yet to see a tuner that has a carb eo #. So ya, what Jim said. Untill they are emissions compliant and fmc aproved, stay away.
  21. So I had an 07 f-350 come in last week, 157000km, smoking white. Has a chip with on dash monitor, set to extreme (of course-- is there any other positions?) cold air intake with the filter nearly sucked inside out, and dual exhaust. Head gaskets have obviously been leaking for a while, by the dried coolant spray on the hood, battery box, and everywhere else. Egr cooler has now popped and is eating coolant at a reported 8 litres per hundred kms. So, i document my findings, write it up and hand it in. Customer advises he will be taking it home to fix, so , he pays diag and leaves (driving it, by the way) This week he phones back and asks us to delete the story on the work order (that went thru servus 2 weeks ago) so his dealer can fix it on warranty. Apparantly they have no problem doing it, but are worried that the story mentions a chip and they dont want to ge nailed. WTF? I think we all need to take a collective stand on this, and remember we are all on the same team? If one dealer says this and another says that, we all look like douche bags. Did anybody(from around here anyways) catch that piece on the calgary news troubleshooter a few weeks ago? Apparantly a guy took his truck in to a dealer for a hard start concern, was told it wasnt warrantable, spent $1300 or something, after a few tries, and was no better. Took it to another dealer, they fixed it on warranty, first try. He had the news troubleshooter guy look into it, and of course the media blew it all to hell, making dealer #1 look like criminals. And yes, dealer names were used. It was a Chevrolet duramax, and chev dealers. That night they ran a phone poll, if consumers trust thier mechanic. The next night the reslts came in and i think it was 70% said no. Time to change our image and reputation with the public (our customers) guys.
  22. Ya, the 58 volt is called the "hot" ficm. Is that 'cause it gets HOT? I wonder what the purpose of that would be? I also wonder if it would overcome sludged injectors? If so dont let ford find out, or that'll be the next tsb instead of replacing injectors. I see they dont give core credit if the ficm has been "soldered". What does that say about solder repairing ficms.
  23. Ya, we arent going to inframe it for that reason. He ended up taking it to our local hd shop. They pulled engine and he is taking it to calgary to have remaned. (about 3 hrs away) The engine builder suggested building his, as it only has 1800 hrs on it, rather than one of his shelf units which may have been high hour engines. ( sounds like he includes pump and injectors etc. in built engines)
  24. Case / cummins. We have no local machine shop. We were going to inframe it, but its got no liners. Owner (my friend and neibor) doesnt want to lose a bunch of time with it down, wants to do a complete swap. He did get ahold of somebody in calgary, and they have 4 engines on the shelf, not sure of the name though.
