  1. I wonder if it works in tune with microcat live? Our parts dept is switching to live tommorow, apparantly it can be run on any network computer.
  2. Quote: show of hands, gents... how many of you check broadcast messages with any regularity? I usually hit them at least every few days, depends if I'm on oasis alot, or waiting for parts alot. (If I get wrapped up in a large job I dont make it to the computer often, as I usually print the assy specs and procedures to avoid waiting for our only shop computer.)
  3. Have you guys noticed lately that ids stores you old sessions even if you select delete when closing? If you plug into the same truck a few weeks later it pops up and asks if you would like to restore the old session or start a new one?
  4. Quote: And if you think that is funny, wait until you take the EcoBoost course. I hear ya there, just took it last week.
  5. Oh crap. I just had one that belonged to a large railway construction company. Driver put 130 liters of gas in and drove it untill 1/2 tank. We figure about 300km or so. I quoted the job and talked it over with thier fleet maintenance manager, He was happy with the info I gave, and ready to do it. He went to his bosses and they said no, drain it, flush it and fill it back up with new fuel and put a few botttles of 2 stroke oil in the tank. Against my will I did it for them, and to my surprise the truck runs Good, time will tell for how long. I did make them aware that by not properly repairing it they will likely have an engine failure and it will not be covered by warranty, but they thought it was worth the risk.
  6. Smallblock, ha, I had a chev pickup with the 250 I-6 in high school, upside down aircleaner lid "worked" on it too!!!!
  7. I just quoted this job yesterday. I'll bring a copy home tommorow for the part #s.
  8. Sounds like a pretty good move! Good for you.
  9. I think there is a "knock out" formed into the bumper that can be cut out, Unfortunatly from the inside. With the hitch on already that may be difficult. May need to remove the bumper cover to cut it cleanly. It could be possible that the rear bumper cover was replaced at one time and the body shop forgot to cut it out.
  10. OOPS, forgot to try that before I lifted the cab!!
  11. Wow, thats an unreal story Brad! You should get your magnehelic (manometer) guage calibration checked. I have used ours on a few "good" engines and get readings arouns 3 to 5". I have a 6.4 right now that reads in the mid 20s at idle and pegged the guage beyond 60 by the time it got to 2000rpm. (oddly enough it has a hole in #2 piston and 35ish litres of fuel/oil in the crank case).
  12. From mitchell on demand: The dtc will set if maf drops below .2v or 1.5g/s for more than 6 seconds. Two consecutive failed trips required to turn on mil. Also says that it stores freeze frame data. Does your scantool have access to that? Could lead you to something? I had an 07 this winter that set this code and had no power, turns out the air filter was full of snow and the maf was all wet.
  13. Yeah, if you are looking at straight temperature, not temperature change, (or difference). 4`c of temp change = 7.2`f of temp change. The spec in the tsb is 15`f, which = 8.4`c.
  14. I'll second that Bruno. That list is awesome. If I ever make it to Vermont, beers will come your way.
  15. I submitted a prior approval request one time, and reported the temp differential as 4`c between eot and ect (I live in Canada, eh), prior approval came back and said, since 4`c is equal to 39`f, this is outside of spec and I need to address the oil cooler before repairing (textbook) leaking headgaskets. I sent the request back, with the question seriously? and then the correct conversion. I wish I had kept a copy of that one.

I wonder how they will detect overfilled engine oil? I have one right now that could have used thet feature....
  17. HAHA, they list xdp fuel additive as a modification??
  18. Quote: lift pumps are common failures on these Agreed, which is probably what wiped the hp pump out. Aftermarket has alot of good lift pump solutions for these.
  19. Quote: --motorcract I'm thinking that was a typo, but its still funny!!!
  20. I'm taking it in Calgary at the end of March.
  21. Ask him if the a/c works. I have seen trucks with low refrigerant charge (but still enough to cycle the compressor rapidly) do this. The engine compensates for the added load with the iac, but if the load isnt there it speeds up momentarily. Also check for sticking iac and vacuum leaks.
  22. Nearly impossible. Such a complex cooling system on these compared to a 6.0 as well. Yikes....
  23. Mitchell gives 4.6 hrs to do both on an 06 e-350.
