  1. I have fixed 3 or 4 like this recently. All with 8 injectors. Holding it about 2200 to 2800 ish in park, you will probly be able to smoke out your whole lot.
  2. Had some more kicked back. Apparantly to recondition the turbo on a headgasket job is a rarely claimed labour op, 6051 is a rarely claimed part # (i call bullshit) I wish i could remember the rest. I honestly think some prick at warranty review is just fucking around with us?
  3. We use wurth brand for most shop supplies, the ones i like are: spray grease just like above, a spray on copper high heat anti seize, synthetic caliper slide lube, heat shrinking crimp connectors and their zip cut wheels, 3" soft disc 36 grit wheels.
  4. One day when i have copious amounts of time (and a garage) im going to convert my 400hp small block 81 chev pickup to turbo / propane setup. I have all the parts collected, just need time.
  5. Quote: Give me an EGR valve or a straight forward repair which seems to be very rare on these pieces of shit Thats for sure, not alot of straight forward common failures like the 6.0l.
  6. I have ohauled one of these in an 07, not too bad a job. The complete 3rd member was 9000$ Couldnt even come close to cost capping it, mind you we had no carrier or case damage.
  7. Posible cavitation related to engine speed? Try driving in a lower gear at slower speed, but same rpm as at 70mph in top gear. May shed light on wether its air flow or coolant flow problems?
  8. Or rattle of the list of special tool #s they will need to purchase, usually makes them rethink quoting it cheap.
  9. We're blocked from alot of stuff at work, you tube, facebook, stuff like that. Managment swears they dont have anything blocked, but we know better. They also have a tracking program, so the know what we are doing. We had a problem apparantly with someones surfing habits, so they made us sign a form that we are not to use shop computers for anything other than inford, and that they will use our password for any sites used at work to check up on what were doing...so i dont log on to dts at work, or anything else for that matter.
  10. The worlds worst water pump job belongs to that engine as well. Sorry for bringing up the quad 4. Wierd things stick in my head, that was probably 10 years ago...
  11. Bang on the pan with a rubber mallet, you should here the ball jump in the pan. A guy i used to work with dropped a hp pump bolt once, and it made it to the pan.
  12. Well at least i'm not alone in my misery. The hp oil pump one we just resubmitted and commented reason for test. Havent seen it back again yet..... Hmm, the city here has a job posting for a mechanic... looking more and more tempting every day.
  13. A redneck couple are leaving divorce court, the ex wife starts crying, The ex husband says, "for fuck sakes, stop crying, you're still my sister".
  14. Somebody went thru alot of work to destroy that truck!!!
  15. Anybody else having alot of claims kicked back saying, "please review, rarely claimed labour operation:________) 2 that come to mind readily are thermostat repalcement on a 6.4, 8575b1a (2.3). Is thermostat repalcement on a 6.4l all that rare? And on a no start, low icp concern, had a bad air leak, ipr was destroyed from shit going thru it, replaced , no more air leak, only builds 60 psi. Removed valve covers and performed hp pump test, replaced defectice pump. Claim kicked back because labour op for hp pump test is a rarely claimed labour op. So was i suposed to ask it if it was fucked then????? Do they not teach us to test a component before replacing it???? What the fuck???? Sorry for the rant, I'm getting kid of sick of this shit. All we are trying to do is keep this shit running, and hopefuly save somewhat of a reputation for the s-d trucks.
  16. The gm 2.3 dohc i4 ( used to be quad 4) mid to late 90s had oil pressure regulator issues that would pump up lifters and cause a start stall. I had a guage on one at -20c or so, hit 175psi oil pressure before it stalled. ( This may be what youre thinking of Jim)
  17. A man was watching his wedding video backwards, and says to his buddy "my favorite part is when she takes off the ring, walks down the aisle backwards and fucks off"
  18. The shelby gt 500 mustangs are running 5w50 synthetic, s-c engines around 500 hp mark i beleive.
  19. ^^^^^This is also how i do them. So much room, no bleeding knuckles and still make time. I also do thermostats this way.
  20. Second for an injector, dumps enough fuel to starve one side of fuel then dies. When keyed back on that injector dumps fuel in the cylinder. I had an 06 with half the injector tip missing do this. Required an engine as the piece of tip ate the piston, head and cylinder wall, as well as the turbine wheel as it exited the engine.
  21. I have the thunder bits as well, I find they dont stay centered very well, they require a deep center punch, and very carefull on straight drilling technique or they drift, but drill thru any thing forsure. I have used walter drill bits in the past and found they were pretty good quality as well.
  22. Quote: I don't have the patience to screw around in that small of a space that ain't attached to a woman. Thats Awesome.
  23. I vote to rename it uncommon sense.
  24. Sorry, i meant holy crap to all the oil leaks. I see tonnes of head gasket failures here, usually due to seized turbe or tuners. (im doing probably 2 sets a week on average lately.)
