  1. good luck to you Jim, hope you stay safe!!
  2. Have you checked out bullet proof diesel?..... I don't know if they do or not, it may be too much in shipping cost across the border? but they pay for shipping here, and are paying $20/cooler right now! They send me a FED-EX shipping label via e-mail, and then I put 8 coolers in a box and ship to them. And they deposit money straight into my Paypal!!
  3. I've done lots of half shell's with great success, and then there was the one that the main circuit board looked good on, no smell of burnt electronics like the fried ones normally have, and it still wouldn't start after half shell replacement. rechecked all my circuitry, all good, disassembled and inspected board again, still don't see a problem (but then I'm not a circuit board expert, so what would I know without something obviouslly burnt?) contacted prior approval for a whole ficm - put a whole ficm in - starts and runs fine!!
  4. These spider poppet injectors are known for issues with leaking fuel, you can check for an external fuel leak at the spider or pressure regulator, if no external leak, possibly running some cleaner through the injectors could help if one is sticking. Chevy updated these injectors and the replacements are supposed to be better and not stick, but a replacement spider can be pricey.
  5. IIRC the round ones are a little bit shorter than the square ones, there is also a difference in the y-pipes where it attaches to the cooler - y-pipe for the round one has a longer snout coming off the pipe to the cooler to reach the shorter cooler.
  6. Yeah...I'm kinda bummed, now I can't sell them to bullet proof anymore
  7. I've worked on alot of vans and never noticed anything like what you're describing.
  8. We were told by Ford several months ago to re-use as much of the fluids as possible when doing cab removal. There's always some fluids that have to be replaced when pulling cabs: P/S, Trans, a gallon of coolant, etc. But we had guys here dumping all the coolant and getting 2 or 3 gallons from parts to dump back in it.
  9. Yes, tsb's do not override the need for prior approval.
  10. Looks like they just 'stole' all our diag time on these!!
  11. our shop uses sonicwall to block "unwanted" web surfing. Streaming music/mp3 is not aloud, but it's ok to view videos on YouTube?!?! Doesn't make sense to me, other than the bandwith issue it might pose, but I can set my computer to play lists of music videos off of YouTube, but I can't get into my favorite music streaming sites.
  12. We have two sets of those portable hoists. There are two 15,000 lb twin post hoists in the shop and one 60,000 lb drive on hoist, everything else is done on the ground. We have 15 Techs in the truckshop here and all have to share the portable hoists except the couple with hoists in their stalls.
  13. Don't even have "tv" here, just watch movies and shows online(my boys love watching Shark Tale, Indiana Jones, Twister, Independence Day, Shrek, Toy Story, etc. They're 8 and 7.) I just can't see paying $100/month for cable or satelite when there's NEVER anything good on when I want to watch. I've become much more productive around the house and spend more quality time with the kids since we decided to get rid of it!!
  14. Dropped my 8mm wobbly socket one time, bought a set of 1/4" locking extensions after that Mine ended up sitting on the upper oil pan, if you can't fish it out with a magnet, I would drop the pan and find it, just cause it "doesn't bind" now doesn't mean it's not sitting on the upper oil pan and might say hello to the crankshaft later while it's spinning at 2000 rpm....

    11b23

Got an 8 gig I carry in my pocket. Can easily erase it for use on any updates to sync(just transfer everything to the desktop of my 'puter and then transfer it back when done. Had an 08 come back after having the 11B23 reflash - wrench light was on, P00B7 in it - coolant flow restriction - followed the pinpoint test(rather quick) and replaced the thermostats. Thought I'd measure just to see as some of my co-workers have been weary about using this flash because "it breaks the trucks". T-stat measured in at 48.03mm, that's 3.03mm hyper-extended. Showed it to several co-workers and told them "the flash doesn't break the truck, it just informs the truck that it's been operating in a broken state, and then prevents it from 'melting down'. Now I've got a 2011 behind my stall that was in for the 10S14 - needed bcm replacement - ordered bcm, attempted to install - computer read 'callibration failed' ran network test - pcm, tcm, rcm, and a couple other 'standard' modules failed....I'll have to get back into this one on tuesday as this is my 3-day weekend due to having to work next saturday. Luckily it's an unsold lot truck.
  16. Had one of the lube guys rack an E-van(extended length) like that....it pulled the rack out of the ground....LOL
  17. Done it........got the pictures to prove it........I was 16 and at a week long church camp.....don't judge me!!
  18. And to answer the original question, No Data(alldata) calls for 4.6 hours(plus your diag)
  19. And here I thought I was the only one doing this?!?! I HATE THOSE DAYS!!!!
  20. FICM_SYNC indicates the FICM is receiving cmp/ckp data from the PCM. If FICM_SYNC is dropping out, but SYNC still says yes, I would suspect a harness issue. Try wiggling the harnes near the FICM on top of the intake manifold, press it down against the manifold. I've seen several where the harness was chaffed and if pressed against the manifold would shut the engine off.
  21. Just got done doing a HPP and standpipes/rail plugs on one today....17 hours THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Back does get kinda sore contorting ones self in those awkward positions to do so though!!
  22. I'm not doing it, it's a friend of mine that's got his own shop. I'm not sure my dealership would have the adapter cable?! but then again, the guys there told me "we don't have those tools, we just do it like this" and then I went in the tool room and found a whole bunch of tools that are brand new in their boxes never been touched because "we don't have those tools, we just do it like this" and everyone's too lazy to find the right stuff to do it.
  23. From the '94 WSM (color added) Anti-Lock Brake System Bleeding SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Anti-Lock Brake Adapter (Bleeder Box) T90P-50-ALA Anti-Lock Brake Adapter (Jumper Cable) T93T-50-ALA EEC-IV Breakout Box T83L-50-EEC-IV
  24. When replacing the ABS hydraulic unit a 'bleeder box' is needed to bleed the brake system. is there any way to bleed this system without this bleeder box? will manually bleeding it like a normal brake system at each wheel work?
