  1. I feel you! Been slow here all of January....real slow....worst I've ever seen it! But now I've got a complete front end rebuild on a 99 f250 - ball joints, track bar, rotors/pads, drag links, tie rods....and it needs more work, the things falling apart....but the engine and trans are in good shape
  2. I think it depends on location to some extent Clark, I was thrown into flat rate within my first year in the dealership
  3. I just use my deep 32mm impact socket (I bought it several years ago for a recall they had out on the Hino trucks)
  4. I'm pretty sure I've seen the seals for the 6.0 vgt actuator available somewhere, but I can't seem to find it?? Anybody know where I might find these seals? Thanks!! Josh
  5. I have a similar procedure with the jumper wire for the fuel pump, but I use the 6.4L fuel bleeder kit with the hose from the 6.0L fuel tester kit, run the hose back into the fuel tank and voila Excellent write up Brad!
  6. I had one with high resistance in one of the FRP wires. IIRC it measured around 200 ohms on the one wire of the UVC harness.
  7. I would look very closely at the HS-CAN pins at all the connectors in your circuits. Be looking at the terminal to wire crimps - make sure the terminal is crimped to the wire and not the insulation. I've seen other concerns where this is the cause.
  8. Welcome back Aaron!! Hope all is going well for ya!
  9. Check the powers and grounds at the TCM - be sure to LOAD test these circuts. There are 3 power wires, and IIRC 3 ground wires. I'll check for you - just helped one of the guys at the shop with this exact issue - the ground wire in the kick panel was 'good' on an ohm check, but could not carry any load. Repaired the ground and voila. Have also seen chaffed harnesses at the crossmember where the TCM is mounted. We're an Isuzu dealer also, so I have access to all these manuals
  10. No, that ended forever ago, there are programs in some states though, in California you can get $1000 - $1500 to 'retire' a car - depending on household income - everyone qualifies for the $1000, only low incomes qualify for the $1500, just contact the local B.A.R. or go to their website to find details on what might be available to you.
  11. I know the feeling! My SA expects that I can get anything done in 1 or 2 days, I don't mind having a ton of work, but he needs to realize he can't tell everybody 'it'll be ready tomorrow'...
  12. You should double check that Keith, I thought the same thing, but I recently found out from our warranty admin that it's 60 days on diesel claims, 30 days on all other claims.
  13. One of the guys I work with used to work at a indy diesel shop working on cummins, duramax, and power strokes, he has the flare nut socket and it works awesome on the injector lines and fuel rail supply lines on the 6.4l, I just can't bring myself to buy one for that much money...money's pretty tight here too!! Haven't had to do a 6.7L yet, but i'm sure it would make the job easy.
  14. Someone would lose their job if they turned away any work at our dealer!! I told my Service Director that I'd heard dealers were turning away work due to warranty numbers, and he said something along the lines of 'if I ever find out someone here is doing that, they'll be gone.' We're currently in level 1 audit, and they've changed the way some of our stuff gets done, but we do not refuse work. We're one of the busiest, if not the busiest dealer in the Sacramento area.
  15. pm me your address, i'll drop 2 of them in the mail for you tomorrow.
  16. Haven't done one personally, but we've had a total of 3 at our shop, I know one of them was on a pickup, one on a cab chassis, and I don't remember which the other one was.
  17. I'll check in the morning, pretty sure I've got one.
  18. I did a HPOP gasket sometime back by pulling the trans, I would much rather do a partial body lift and pull the turbos - can have it done in about 3.5 hours that way.... The problem I found with pulling the trans was I was constantly having to get under it and then on it, and then back under it....
  19. Ford has kicked a few of our claims for having intake gaskets stating "they're re-usable". WSM also says they are re-usable, so I guess we're supposed to just re-use them?!
  20. Welcome to the forums! I'm certain you will find a ton of useful information here from all of the members, I know I have!! Please see this forum in the parts section to find the answer to your question.
  21. Not sure the differences, but we had a mix-up at my old dealer where some 4C's got installed where 3C's should be, it had some other issues with exhaust gas entering the fuel rail about 6 months later, and had one of the new injectors blown apart - the top section separated from the base. When contacting hotline on this issue they said we needed to replace all the 4C's with the 3C's that were supposed to be in there, but they wouldn't give me an explanation.
  22. I've noticed this a number of times when opening a gasket set, luckily I've always noticed it before installing it.
