Any tech geeks here, I have a question?
lmorris replied to lmorris's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
Did some more digging, there are other guys that typically don't connect to our wifi that have the same thing pop up on their phone. I tried restating the router and we went into the router set-up and nothing changed. I guess it's not too big a deal to not have any wifi. I don't use data on my phone anyways. Just seemed very odd. Thanks anyways. -
More reprogramming...This one over rides 14E03 on units with it still open. 2011-2014 MY pays 0.7, 2015 MY pays 0.5. Applies to Ambulance prep vehicles only. In all of the affected vehicles, a single Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor fault or over-temperature condition can cause the vehicle to enter a Failure Management Effects Mode (FMEM), resulting in a Stop Safely Now warning and DTC P200C and/or P200E. If this condition occurs, the driver will hear five audible chimes, a Stop Safely Now message will appear in the instrument cluster, and the Powertrain Malfunction light will illuminate. After these warnings, engine power will be reduced over approximately 45 seconds but remain adequate to maintain vehicle speed of 40 – 56 KPH allowing the driver to maneuver the vehicle to a safe location. When the vehicle is stopped by the driver, the engine will be shut off to begin a cool down period. The engine may not restart for 10 – 60 minutes, depending on environmental conditions.

I have a Samsung Core LTE smart phone. Been connected to our shops WIFI since I got the phone. Friday I left the shop, came back and now it keeps asking me to sign into the network, like when you go to coffee shops and use their free wifi. It will be connected for about a minute then kick me out. If I touch the sign in prompt it just opens my browser to my home page. No sign in available. Our owner says nothing changed with the router and no one else is having this issue. All the laptops that connect to the router are also fine. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

6.7 LONGER THAN NORMAL CRANK TIME
lmorris replied to RyanG's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I had one that had the PCV replaced at another dealer and would intermittently set P0087, All tests passed. Ended up replacing the entire left fuel rail and it hasn't set since. Something about a valve in the rail that can cause issues. -
EGR Cooler Performance (P2457)
lmorris replied to the_twig_187's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
If I feel the EGR tube bolts starting to bind up in the manifold, I turn them back in a bit, but leave the pipe loose, and soak it down with penetrating fluid. 20 minutes later they come right out. I have also gone back to removing the upper manifold because I am sick of scratching up my arm on that stupidly sharp edge on the cowl. -

1/4 drive air ratchet gets them out every time no hassles. Plus I remove all the bolts that go into the valve covers before removing the intake, comes out easier. -

Never take that tube out Mike. No need to. -
Yep.....Manual regen and reset DPF, never gotten one to clear the way the SSM says. Tried an IDS manual regen and DPF reset on one truck 3 times before I gave up and gave it back to the customer. He drove it for 3 days before it cleared. Performed forced regen through the cluster on one and was successful.

Odd oil leak at #8 exhaust port
lmorris replied to Steve Mutter's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It could just be condensation mixing with the soot and looks like oil but isn't. I have seen a few like this. Most have loose exhaust manifold bolts when I see this. -

What is FRP showing KOEO, and how quickly does is it build cranking? -

Bridge construction in Edmonton hits a snag.....
lmorris replied to lmorris's topic in The Water Cooler
The only company name I can see is Graham. Most likely there are a few companies involved in this. -
In these cases, if the customer is ok with bringing it back a few times until you find the problem then it's not a problem. If he has an issue with you not being able to work within his schedule then it's his problem, not yours, and you tell him to go somewhere else. These oddball electrical issues are a bastard no matter what experience you have or what you are working on. He needs to deal with it. Also if he has a tuner, he should be able to clear his own codes and keep going until he can leave you the truck. I have no sympathy for customers that think we can magically fix everything in a couple of hours because it's their work truck.

Sounds like a PCM reset or wire chaffing issue to me. Any possibility your scanner is not able to read all codes? Also is it possible there is an issue with keep alive memory? I don't know what Dodge uses for sensors or if they have VREF issues like Ford does. Known good PCM available? Just throwing some things out there.

Construction of the 102 Ave bridge over Groat Road will be delayed by a year, and Groat Road is indefinitely closed until they can figure out what went wrong. So glad I don't drive that way much. Our infrastructure is messed up already and this is going to make things worse. http://www.edmontonjournal.com/102nd+Avenue+bridge+project+could+delayed+year+after+steel+girders+buckle/10893892/story.html

So I have one here, F550 with 52000 KM on it. Tuned, exhaust delete and aftermarket air cleaner. Driver says it only sets when he is running out to job sites and has to clear the code to get it out of derate, so I have no freeze frame data to look at. Max boost I get is 26 PSI on hard accell up a hill. Map sensor is clean, and VGT seems to be operating ok. Tuner has turned off the EGR so I am not sure what affect that will have on the turbo as far as controlling overboost. Going to let it go for now with instructions to driver to record as much info as he can when it sets.

2015 transits water in the air filters (code p061b)

The hood intake is for the HVAC. -
What type of failures are we seeing here? Anytime we get a reman back is usually because the customer cranks up the chip and feels they have to pass everyone on the highway doing 150 km/hr while pulling a trailer.

Stand pipe dummy plug kit
lmorris replied to the_twig_187's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
We actually had one where the stand pipe split where the middle seal is. Maybe 2 standpipes with failed orings at most. -
If the truck is equipped to perform operator commanded regen, use that and not IDS. It has been the only successful regen for me so far.

Same. No issues here.
