Well guys my wife is considering a newer vehicle. She likes her 08' escape but it is getting up there in miles. She doesnt like the look of the new escapes but she does like the style of the new explorers. We are looking for something with 20,000 miles or so on it. I am looking for opinions on the vehicle as well as years to shy away from or common things to look for before buying one. Thanks for the input fellas.

exhuast leaks into the cabin, rear power liftgate issues, door latch issues, sun roofs sticking, axle seal leaks...oh and SYNC. just to mention a few, but other wise they're pretty solid.

Axle seal leaks, My Touch, Cooling Fans, the odd water leak at the rear liftgate. Most commn problem - rear pads seize in caliper brackets = brake job and 40 000km

The last one I had in my bay was kicked to me from the oil changer. As per WSM to re and re the right front head lamp bulb the bumper has to come off. That's some solid engineering right there.

My wife got into a 2017 Explorer and we love it. Our last one was a 2001 AWD XLT Sport with the 5.0L in it. With the 3.7L it's just as fast but it rides and handles soooo much better on the current platform. The only problem we had with it was it was totaled at 1700 miles. THe vehicle protected my wife beautifully. We were able to replace it with an almost exact replacement changing the interior color to all black which she wanted.
