Its kind of like an ABS front wheel speed sensor in a 95 explorer mounted on the hub. Same thing would happen. I don't think you need to post the pic of a rusty hole. We can all find that stuff on the web.

Jim, I understand. BTW, I like your little soap box rants. Your like a pastor in the church of auto/ truck repair. AMEN

I thought you were talking about the tools for a 6.0l IPR, but I didn't want to say anything.
-
I have a 1/2" drive crowfoot that is a 12 point from Snap-On. It is the only thing I have ever used for IPRs on 7.3Ls. Maybe tomorrow, when I'm at work I can post the tool #. Remember that the nut on the end is torqued to 53 in/lbs. You don't want to overtighten it and distort that coil.
-
Every diesel that gets a new injector unless maybe if that little nut fell off, needs to go down the road at full throttle while monitoring fuel pressure. That is something I have been doing for a while now. A gas engine with lean codes that cannot be reproduced..... A fuel filter that is clogged can cause this or a bad fuel pump.

A plugged cat. converter and valve timing are the onlt 2 things that will cause opposing fuel trims. I'm glad to hear its fixed. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

If you don't want it fixed right, I don't want anything to do with it. If you had some hack butcher up your truck, I really don't want to deal with that either. a late model truck with an early 6.0 sounds like a total nightmare. let those guys take it back to the Hacky-Shack that did it in the first place. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

I just read a question on that site about a stalling 2004 E series with a 6.0l. The guy that answered the question told him to take his truck to the dealer. I don't think its a big deal.
-
When you guys say round two, do you mean Ford recalling the gray CMPs we have been installing? That would be awful.
-
This thing has a 4.6 right? Does it have a lot of miles on it? I have seen older 4.6s with a lot of miles that have stretched timing chains. I think the way to tell is if the tensioners are all the way out. It sounds like you checked everything, but RF can be a big problem causing these DTCs. Good luck.

I totally agree. Even if I'm going to do headgaskets or coolers, I like to park the truck overnight with the pressure guage. It is amazing all the other small leaks that you won't notice when the engine is warm. How would the front cover cause a lack of heat at idle? restriction?

Water in power steering resivoir 2008 F350
Mekanik replied to Mekanik's topic in Body, Chassis and Electrical
I ended up replacing the resivoir because I think its the most likely point to let water in the system. Then I flushed the power steering system really really good. If he has the same problem next winter, I'll deal with it then. I looked, but did not see anything that might cause water to enter the system. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif -
new oil coolers contaminated
Mekanik replied to Brad Clayton's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
This is good to know. The next one that I do, I'll clean it out before I install it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif -
The scary thing is that I do a lot of them in the "Quick Lane", and never even start the truck. I guess if there was a problem, I would find out about it right away. I also had one on Friday where oil was leaking from the new CMP sensor. The recall was done at our shop by someone else and tthe o ring was in 2 pieces. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

I had one today on a 07s57. The customer was in a real hurry, I didn't even do a multi-point. I just pulled it up to my door and did the recall outside. The guy came back a few minutes later saying his truck was bucking and jerking and his MIL lamp was on. At first I thought he was trying to pull something, but I hooked up my ngs and there was a p0344. I cleared it and monitored a few pids. His truck definately bucked and jerked and the p0344 came right back. The RPM pid never dropped totally down like in a truck that stalls with a bad CMP. I put a new sensor in the truck and then gave it a good test drive. The funny thing is that he had the CMP replaced this past summer and his truck was running great before I did the recall. I bet there will be more bad sensors out there. Just by the fact that the company that maks the part had to step up and make hundreds of thousands of theese things right away. Has anyone else gotten a bad grey CMP?

6.0L NEED HELP NO POWER
Mekanik replied to jared_bortel's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
What more could you possibly do? Absolutely nothing! You fixed it and it runs the way is is supposed to. 95mph... give me a break. The problem is not with the truck, its with the customer. That manual trans isn't meant for someone on a dragstrip and neither is that truck. Hopefully he will never return to your shop. Not that I would ever do this, but you may want to call the police and tell them how he sped past you on the highwat at at least 95mph. You still have his lic. plate /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif number right? -
6.0L NEED HELP NO POWER
Mekanik replied to jared_bortel's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I'm glad to hear that that piece of junk is fixed. I usally loose my ass when I have a bad pcm. Lets face it, It's usally the last option when you have checked and double checked everything else. -
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boink3.gif Ok, I see. I feel stupid for not catching that.

LMAO /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif. Did you try de-magnetizing the crankshaft? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif Or maybe the crankshaft has too much static electricity.

The unison ring on the new CHRA was cracked? I have not replaced a CHRA yet. The one vehicle that was going to get one got a whole turbo because the CHRAs weren't avail. yet.

My 1st 6.4L radiator...Any tips
Mekanik replied to Mekanik's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I noticed that you left the intercooler in place. Maybe I'll try that next time. -
I'm working on another 2008 F350 with a 6.4l engine. The fluid in the power steering resivoir looks like a strawberry milkshake. I'm assuming that water got in there. The fluid was previously flushed for this same concern not long ago by someone else here. The truck is equipped with a plow. I can kind of see how snow could possibly end up on top of the resivoir and end up inside. Has anyone else seen this on one of these?
-
I don't think it's a bad idea at all. Do we really need to go faster than 80mph? Why would Ford make a vehicle to go that fast anyway? I'm suprised nobody has sued a vehicle manufactuer for making a vehicle go 90-100mph and cause a accident. Thats just my . I realize that people need to be responsiblr for thier own actions.

Stupid question, but I have to ask. Are you sure it was the correct injector for this truck. It wasn't a cyl. #8 injector was it?
