  1. I just took the pump out and had mad flow from the reservoir, so the system did not drain back with the stand pipes out. I would say that this system and pump is sealed pretty good. Not sure what would happen if the pump were pooched. That may be a thing to try at the ol college this semester.
  2. I took the heads off one Saturday and I am just now getting back on it. I am getting ready to pull the HPOP so I will see if there is any flow out of the supply port from the res. I'll report back here in a couple a hours.
  3. I would schedule some vacation time (preferably out of state) at about the same time the harness shows up.
  4. Those harnesses in them things are pretty tender. I have replaced quite a few for all sorts of drive-a-bility issues with good success. It would be nice to find an actual rub through or fault in the harness instead of replacing the whole thing, but that may be the best option in the long run.
  5. It is a great time, you will be pampered and they cater just as much to your better half. I had a co worker that went, and a they brought home cash and gifts and just an all around good time....oh and a....shall I say "open bar"?
  6. The previous owner had a real bad case of warrantyitous.
  7. No extended coverage, but here is your info and history:

  9. Any bad shaft bearings are super easy to spot whilst inspecting them. If she's got some miles on her and they aren't to pricey then all of them may be the way to go. All the ones I did were under warranty and you know how that goes, it gets what's bad and that's it. I tried to cost cap a couple and man was that impossible. Getting a complete unit never happened.
  10. I have replaced the bearings in a few units. It's a pretty straight forward job, the trans comes out like usual and as long as you have the tool kit to separate the case and hold the variators and stuff, then your good to go. Not too many gaskets just a bunch of orings and little tubes that seal the mechatronix to the case. Caution some are different lengths, don't ask.
  11. It's about time they updated them cheesy fittings. I replace about 3 or 4 a week, it gets old quick.
  12. "your honor, it had all the stuff on it when it left here"
  13. "It had all the correct stuff on it when it left here, sir"
  14. Of course I'm speaking about the Navistar engines, but I find it hard to believe that the 6.7 is so different that it can't be applied. I know they have a much different crankcase depression regulator, but how much pressure can they hold/mask?
  15. That's complete crap. A dusted engine will pass a compression test all day long but blow 50 inches of water on a magnehelic gage. Each test has it's own purpose and should be done according to what your looking for. One test should never replace the other test as far as a superiority issue. You could have a brand new engine with one cylinder wall gouged out, it will pass the crankcase pressure test with no problems and probably blow a 2 in" H2O. However the affected cylinder will flag an issue on a compression test and definitely show the problem on the subsequent leak down test. This truck would run rough and smoke for sure and the compression/leak down test would be the valid way to test for base engine issues. A truck that runs perfectly normal but exhibits an overloaded crankcase ventilation system with heavy oil would be a situation where a crankcase pressure test would be in order to help pinpoint or rule out base engine problems. I would dare so from the way that quote is worded and the spelling, that the actual hotline engineer that was at his desk took a break and left his computer logged on and a hammer head walked by and cobbed up that reply and fired it off before getting caught.
  16. Number 1 main bearings spun and then seized. Crankshaft continued to turn at all costs. The rear of the crank separated itself from the front just behind the number 1 and 5 rod journal. The bearings then got pounded into submission and it dumped a shit tonne of oil out of the front crank seal. The resulting freedom of movement on the front pistons allowed the pistons and valves to get up close and personal. Long block approved no questions asked......I sent photos.
  17. Well this one has been acting up still. I showed the customer how to get it running when it acts up and they have been dealing with it for the time being. It finally laid down and they towed it in, however it started for me. I went to lunch with the guys from the company that owns the truck, today and they told me the truck had a remote shutdown/start system in the rear. This setup is used for the boom and I am willing to bet it is what is causing my problems. Hopefuilly I will have some answers by the weekend.
  18. Got this one out and apart.........broken crank.
