  1. I was stating that I would replace the log and not bother about trying to repair it with parts.
  2. I've made just about my entire living off of shit no one else would do. I currently have 5 bays at my disposal and manage to fill all 5 this week whilst everyone else was pushing brooms. They had no interest in what I saw as a means of putting food on my table and a roof over my head.
  3. Ford sees themselves as one of our customers, the worst customer you can ever want to deal with by the way. Lots of customers think the dealer is out to get them or take them for a ride, and Ford is no different in that thinking. When a customer picks up his or her car, they get to scrutinize the bill before paying and dispute or refuse to pay anything that is out of whack right then and there. Ford, on the other hand, pays the bill up front no questions asked then has a small army of people go over the bill with a fine tooth comb. If something is wrong.......well you know
  4. Lots of trade school teachers hands are tied by upper management and the students checks that they are cashing.
  5. The dealer I came from was a 126 report rock hound. Getting anything done was next to impossible. I replaced some engines that were chugging a quart of oil every minute out the tailpipe and still couldn't get management to sign off on replacing a DPF. As for around here, emissions are pretty relaxed on diesels, and there aren't to many cops that want to crawl around under these trucks looking for tampering. Sooooo any assumed DPF failures usually end up with the ol, let me get back to you. Mean while they are on every internet site looking for delete setups. I guess I am trying to say I could use a refresher course on DPF diagnostics myself. I shudder to think what will happen in the future when states crack down on inspections and the cost of failed after treatment systems are in the multiple thousands of dollars to replace. Nice screenshots Bruce.
  6. I have a guy that with same complaint and same results. He told me the other day that it does it more when it is rainy or wet outside.
  7. Took us 6 months to get a steering gear for an 08
  8. We had a shadow student come through the shop yesterday. This poor confused child was from one of our exemplary local high schools. It seems I was the only one doing anything, so they asked if he could be my.....shadow. I took one look at the dude and new this was going to be an exercise in futility. He was a little runny fuck and looked about as mechanically inclined as Brittany Spears. Conversation went like this: "Hey, what's your name?" I ask. "Marquise" He replies. "Ah, is that French?" "No" Well it sounds fucking French to me, he must have slept through some of his history classes, back to the conversation. "So, is this your first or second year of classes?" "Huh?" "Automotive classes" "I'm not taking any automotive classes" He replies. I give a bit of a confused look and try to formulate my next set of questions so that they may be understood with as little explanation as possible. "How is it that you are here shadowing then?" "This was the last shadow available and I had to take it" "So you don't want to be a mechanic?" "No" "What is it you want to be?" "An hematologist/oncologist" He replies "How come you aren't shadowing over at the hospital then?" "All those slots were taken" Needless to say, he didn't shadow me! What a complete waste of friggin time that whole deal was.
  9. Looks like you left your marshmallow in the fire pit a little too long. Just kiddin. But you would think it would have to be a lot lower on antifreeze to cause some cylinder head damage.
  10. I have read some stupid shit over there, but this takes the cake: This thread was started by Mr Boone asking for any advise on doing a manual compression test on an Econoline equipped with a 6.0L Mr. Boone needs a helper to protect him from the people that are "helping" him.
  11. Had all the Powerstrokes in the shop today. 7.3L with 8 tired injectors (waiting on ok), 6.0L with rear tank delam (waiting on parts), 6.4L with an overfull DPF (customer declined, I see a straight pipe in his future), and a 6.7L with a chooched primary water pump (waiting on parts). Pretty neat day.
  12. We have a new body shop manager (read that any way you want). That plus the fact that we are hurting for work, there was no argument when it was decided to send it to us for a frame.
  13. Well........that's what we were asking. Evidently this car belongs to a really old geezer who loves it and wants to go to the grave owning it. So a deal was worked out to fix it instead of totaling it. I collect 30 hours for my part.
  14. This guy was having a similar issue. http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f31/blowing-return-lines-melted-injector-258776/
  15. Negative. The tow truck company brings us all their F-550's so we inherited the 650 also.
  16. Now that's thinkin' with your dipstick Jimmy! And everybody thinks your just another pretty face.
  17. 6.7L B series, Allison trans with air brakes and air suspension.
  18. I got one coming for stock, should be here Monday.
  19. TSB 13-10-07 just released, says to replace the vacuum harness. I tried uploading the bulletin but my puter didn't like it.
  20. Does he have a passport? We could use him up here. Sublet him out to all our fleets, he could just walk their lots checking each truck as it comes back from a job site. I would save them a lot of time and make us a lot of money. We could work you in somewhere with a consult fee.
