  1. What the heck is on the ground in front of that motor? Buckshot?
  2. I don't feel so bad when it comes to english/metric, especially when NASA can't get it right. I mean after all they are "rocket scientists" clicky---> WTF
  3. Here is the Ford recommended list of pids: Quote: Record the following PIDS when the hotline requests recordings for review of your drivability concern. These PIDS are essential for a thorough review of the concern. WDS Pids APP % B+ BARO (psi) DTCCNT EBP (psi) ECT (temp) EGR_DTY EGRVP EGRTP_DTY EGRTP_VP EOT (temp) EBP-A EBP_DES FUELPW FICM_LPWR FICM_VPRW FICM_MPWR FICMSYNC ICP (psi & volts) ICP_DES (psi) IPR INJ_TIM IAT IAT2 LOAD MAF (g/s) MAP MFDES MGP RPM SYNC VGT_DTY VPWR VREF VSS
  4. Quote: it's 30 plus degrees (that's metric for hot) I was working with one of my Aussie companions at the ski resort, and we were comparing our summers. I said it doesn't get to hot around here, but down South it reaches well over a 100 degrees on a regular basis. He just looked at me and said what's that. I guess I should have said 40 degrees centigrade. Seems weird to think about 100 degrees fahrenheit and not know that that is damn hot!
  5. Quote: Maybe somebody else did some work around the pressure line recently which caused the failure. Like pulling the cab?
  6. I remember when we got our flusher. It was at my old shop and the first time it got fired up was the last time it got fired up.....indoors that is. From there on whoever had to use it got the pleasure of working outdoors.
  7. Almost everytime I have a "gas" pedal, "foot feed", accelerator, or what-have-you concern, it has been attributed to a chaffe. And most of the time at the shock tower.
  8. Very good point, which does get overlooked in the sales department when specing out a new truck!
  9. Quote: Now it needs 8 injectors because of the water in engine Is that due to an after axle tank, or did they pay $3 bucks a gallon for high quality H2O?
  10. Gotta link to this article? My '00 Exploder is riddled with door lock actuator issues. Way to expensive to fix with new stuff. Does this "fix" apply in my case? Huh? Hmmm? Does it? <twittles thumbs anxiously>
  11. That's a tough call. I do know that if you decide to go diesel, I would shell out the bucks for the 7 year 200,000 mile warranty from the get go. I think I wouldn't mind having the 6.4 as long as I could find a way to monitor what was being pumped into the friggin fuel tank. I mean it's like playing Russian Roulette everytime you fill one of these things up. I personally have never been a fan of the modular motors. We melt the manifolds clean off these things when you put some weight on them, down South.
  12. Quote: And I am quite surprised that we aren't rebuilding these units yet... We haven't been deemed smart enough yet, by the BIG MACHINE .
  13. I like dead offenders to. Unless the're zombies, then it's a whole 'nother ball game.
  14. King Keith, As always much appreciated for your tireless efforts to this site and us humble techs. Happiest Peasant in the kingdom, Brad Clayton
  15. Alright don't flame me to bad. I looked high and low and used the search engine and can't find this tsb in it's entirety. Ford has seemed to delete it from it's system and I can only find reference to it here. I am looking for the part number and am really curious as to why Ford has "lost" this tsb.
  16. Done a couple so far, pretty easy with trans out of the way.
  17. I would go ahead and break out the gage and check line pressure and EPC pressure before going any further. Just follow the shop manual procedure, it's pretty straight forward. If you don't have a gage set, you may have to do some scrounging up and borrow one.
  18. I've got the basic length Snap-on 3/4 wrench and it fits perfectly. I can't speak for other wrenches, but the Craftsman obviously dosen't work and I'm sure others probably don't work either. I looked high and low for an old metal bracket. After no luck in finding one and then being fortunate enough to have the wrench that fits, I am content in my job.
  19. Just curious what the mileage and hours are on this beast.
  20. Why is that? Is it going to the cash for clunkers program?
  21. Been there done that. Had a new Windbag that threw a rod and knocked the starter off along with the bell housing section that it was still attached to. It got an FQR engine and a empty new trans case that I had to switch over. All on a van with less than a 1000 miles on the clock. Customer was some kinda happy about it.
  22. Shiiiitt! The 4.9L would walk the dog on that tired ass 5.0L Mikes got in that '93 truck. So that won't be a problem, but I AM hearing some diferences on the flywheel and clutch from the two models.
