  1. My question is not in defense of the dealership, but are the nuts actually missing or did the chrome caps fall off one or more nuts??? After being removed with an impact wrench the ESCAPE, FOCUS, and Lincoln LS are common to loose chrome caps and at a glance can look like the nuts missing.
  2. AAAHHH the sweet sting of SLTS. Thats what happens when a guy wearing a White shirt and tie decides how long it should take.
  3. Can you get to the 10mm bolts under the intake with the intake on?
  4. NO.... with the harness bundle and the PTO shaft you can hardly put your hand up there to hold the socket on and there isn't enough space to swing a ratchet long enough to be useful from below, Plus on an LCF there's a cross member in front of the HFCM preventing you from using a swivel and long extension like on an super Dodie. It's reminiscent of the 94,95,96 F-150's with 2 feet of wide open frame rail with nothing in the way but the fuel filter was stuffed between the rail and front of the gas tank for no apparent reason other than it looked good on paper.
  5. Any body had the "Pleasure" of trying to change a fuel filter on an LCF with a trans mounted PTO yet?? This one had a PTO with a shaft to drive a pump. I was able to reach it from over the top of the frame by laying over the top of the engine from the right side but it took two guys to get the cap off the HFCM, I held the socket on the cap and had a helper push the ratchet from the left side(long flex head 1/2" drive) to loosen the cap it was insanely tight right to the last thread. Fortunately the front of the body(tank) stopped so I was able to reach it from the top but if it didn't I don't see how this filter would be serviced. Anybody thought about relocating the HFCM to a reasonable spot to service? The hardware required to do it is simple as is the labor my real question is, What would the legal restraints be from moving it?
  6. no no no Jeff not plane, it's "THE TRUCKS THE TRUCKS!!!!!!"
  7. Quote: =Tony302600 Can you imagine all of us at one huge dealership. We would have awesome parts guy's, tech's that care, a chapel for Jim's preaching, DamageINC running the porter department.....It's like fantasy island. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif OK I know it's kinda crappy but I did it real quick and I can hardly see I'm laughing so hard /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif
  8. Well I I do decide to suddenly apply for Canadian medical coverage I'll be sure to call my GRANDPA JIMMY first. I also just got my crecorder but havn't played with it yet
  9. OK I'll bite..... HOW? BTW I replaced all my 10mm's after my first 03 6.0L turbo R&R
  10. I haven't upgraded nets since the release before it needed a key. I was going to but Keith posted that there was a shortage of keys so I just never got to it. My med duty truck salesman that had many years of experience and a huge following recently "retired" from my dealership, only to start working at a competing local dealer so I don't suspect I'll be needing MD TRUCK software any time soon. The rest of the sales boobs can't get selling cars right so I don't think we will ever sell another truck.
  11. I asked my MAC guy for one and was told that he ordered 5 pieces when the flyer came out, and sold out at his first few stops and would order me one. For just $80.00 I'm going to buy one for myself even if I never use it in a customers vehicle I think it will be good just to get more seat time reading graphs at my leisure(sitting home on the couch)....right Gramps?? I have the misfortune of recently acquiring a new "parts and service dept director" (Flush pusher) The last three dealerships he worked for are now closed, but it had nothing to do with him? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif I have tried to play nice but I really just don't like him. so the last place I want to be is at the shop on my time "playing with my toys" I might be time to move my wagons north..
  12. I just got a flyer from my mac tools guy it had a universal VDR that connects to a PC for $79.99 USD • Records and stores the entire OBDII data stream in a 24-hour continuous loop • Captures DTC and Freeze Frame data • Simply plug the unit into the OBDII data link connector and let the customer do the test driving for you • Use the intuitive client software, a free download at http://www.crecorder.com to retrieve the information needed to diagnose the problem # ET3010
  13. Quote: Ford had the 2.3 and the 2.3 SVO which was pretty decently powered the 2.3 turbo was available in GT's and SVO's , the 4 Cly GT's weren't popular due to the fact that the 2.3L turbo 4 cyl cost more than a V8 5.0L GT.
  14. AHH OK I didn't know. My shop has been a level 1 for so long I never heard of RTDA.
  15. Quote: I went back to BB and they allowed me to return the tower and order a similar tower in XPPro. It will be in in a couple of weeks and I get get back to WORK. My question my be dumb but why didn't you just install XP PRO onto that machine /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif I haven't had the pleasure of removing vista, yet but I did do my moms laptop from xp home that came filled to the brim with trial software and so much useless stuff it would take almost 10 min to boot up, my busted ass old 500 MHz dell was faster. I noted all hardware and downloaded the drivers for them and burned all to a CD then created a "slipstreamed" XP disc with the SATA drivers needed for the SATA hard drive and it is a great running machine now. on edit, what about setting up a "dual boot" pc http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp
  16. I love to see them but Bruce has !!WAY TO MUCH FREE TIME!!
  17. OK I'm to lazy to go look, Whats RTDA??? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
  18. AND YET ANOTHER TOPIC has passed to the dark side! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif
  19. Nope never noticed that. The first of the two CHRA's I got made it to my bench and I couldn't move the pivot, back to the parts counter it went the second never left the parts counter before I rejected the thought of being Fords control group, test mule, lab rat, scape goat, whipping boy, or guni pig. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cover.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/fouet3.gif How much time will it pay to do it twice if you can't "beat" the new CHRA into working. and how many do you think they will service install before they bounce claims for repeat repairs and your fixing there screwed up parts for free??? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  20. Sure but will it pull the Glastron up the boat ramp??????? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  21. DING DING Jeff wins the perception awardafter wasting days with junk parts I "noticed" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif that if I put the unison ring in a vice and pushed on it, it had a "previously unseen" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif crack in it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hahaha.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ford.gif
  22. I understand that FMC dealer has a topic about this but I don't want to read through the pile of crap to got to the meat of the problem. That being said how many of us have had an issue besides me,I got two in a row, one I couldn't move one would move if i used pliers. in order to get the customers truck back to him after three days trying to get parts I "DISCOVERED" that the unison ring was cracked and it needed a turbo.
