Anyone notice this part now has a core charge? Isn't that interesting?
  2. That is a beautiful job!!! Looks even better than a Ford reman!!!
  3. I'm not usually to privy to what guys on the monkey house post, when it comes to "mods" but when it comes to wrench on their rides, it does get a little amusing from time to time. At the dealership however, we are often looked down upon as glorified "parts replacers" and unfortunately we are in a sense. LONG gone are the days of rebuilding starters, brake calipers, wheel cylinders in-house, as are then days of doing "valve jobs" as you all know. But when it comes to injectors on 6.0L diesels, the cost does more often than not, become a factor for some owners. For this reason, I found it very interesting to happen upon this thread: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1283601-injector-stiction-fix-lots-of-labor-but-works-great.html I have to admit, the author did go to great lengths to share what I consider to be a very informative write-up on the subject matter. This is almost as good as the one about the turbo disassembly.
  4. That sounds like all the GM engines of the 80s and 90s era. Yup, worked at Canadian Tire and Midas during my pre-apprentice days from 88-91 Yup. And did you happen to notice Fords always seemed to take more oil I guess because most of that era took the FL-1A filters that would hold one litre alone?
  5. I read somewhere that for 2015 models, a bigger turbo is going in without a wastegate.
  6. That sounds like all the GM engines of the 80s and 90s era.
  7. I'll do you one even better. Why not use it for a positive air block-off to prevent runaways when they fill up the crankcases with fuel?

  9. Aaron, thank you for the laugh. I needed it. When I purchased my truck back sometime in September of 2011, the previous owner licensed it as commercial. When I transferred the ownership over to my name after officially taking possession of it, I never bothered to change the status of it, until I went and purchased my personalized plate "M CHAN68". And yes, I am sporting that red sticker on my front plate. However, at 4536 Kg. (10,000 lbs.) GVWR, I am 36 Kg. over the 4500 Kg. limit for light duty emissions classification. This means I get dinged the cost for medium and heavy duty class emissions every time I'm due for it. BUT, in answer to your main question, NO I am not sporting that flimsy yellow sticker, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid, when I changed my plates and ownership classification over.
  10. Tires, tires, tires, and more tires, and more tires .........
  11. I guess that means this truck is equipped with the 4.0L SOHC (which is backed by the 5R55S with the troublesome solenoid packs), as opposed to the 4.6L 3-valve (backed by the 6R60).
  12. Are you really missing anything? Enjoy your moments of being the Billy ball joint and Bobby brake shoe for a change. It definitely is an easier way to keep the bills paid.
  13. If it's a Jasper engine, does it come will all the usual updated '05+ parts (dummy plugs and STC etc.)? Failing that, if you can't duplicate the concern, it's a shot in the dark. Not sure it helps much, but I vaguely recall having a '10 E-Series in for a no-start hot and it turned out to be the HPOP outlet two bolts had backed off to where both were hand loose.
  14. You just can't seem to win with this particular one, can you Leon? You're posting this and I can picture perfectly how it's playing out in your head, more than you know. If it helps, you're not alone with 6.4L issues. I had one that dynamited two roller lifters which I ended up long-blocking under warranty. On the post-repair road test, all went well until cylinder #1 intake rocker decided to go South during the drive back into work (I drove it home for the night). To complicate matters, this truck's warranty expired during the initial repair process (by time). So, there was a big shit hitting the fan situation there. Now fast forward to a couple months later, said truck came back with a complaint of random stalling and hard starting. Unable to duplicate the stalling issue, I was going to release it until the customer requested that I drive it for the weekend (he would pay for the fuel). Low and behold, I finally managed to get it to intermittently not start or require extremely extended cranking to get it to start, due to FRP slow to climb, or insufficient when it wouldn't fire up. But again, those symptoms were extremely intermittent and random that it was difficult to perform any diagnostics that would reveal anything conclusive. That said, I was going to ship it and tell him to bring it back if it got really bad. Well, I got a phone call from Ford Hotline (after I opened an assistance request). Not only did they give me information that there was an issue with 6.4L remanned injectors during such and such dates, some of which made their way into some FQR engines, of which the one I installed falls smack dab within the middle of the date range. Without even requesting, I was granted prior approval to throw eight new sticks at it. Remember, at this point the truck was completely out of warranty, which I very clearly pointed out to the guy at Hotline. I was then put on hold, while he consulted with some higher ups about the warranty expiry issue. Despite this, he gave me the green light to throw eight sticks. Vehicle fixed, warranty claim submitted, and promptly kicked back!!!! My manager appealed it, with all the very detailed documentation submitted. To this day, it still hasn't been paid!!! Sorry for the novel. And no, I don't know what to say about your ongoing coolant issue with this one. Fan clutch? Blocked or restricted flow through the cooling system?
  15. I've got one here that won't read higher than empty. I too, did the recall on this one. I've already had the tank out again, and looked inside to see if there was ANY PLACE where the float arm travel could possibly be obstructed to no avail. After buttoning it back up, putting back in the 5 gallons I removed, the needle still won't read higher than empty . Anybody have any ideas? I've already done plenty of these recalls up to this point without issue on all of them except this one.
  16. Another useless piece of information would be those with the shouldered type bolts are yet another way of identifying a 6.0L with a 20mm dowel block (as opposed to 18mm).
  17. I am very interested. Where did you obtain this information from?
  18. Isn't it 28 ft-lbs. on all 6.0L engines? I know the 6.4L engines have the exact same bolt pattern and layout.
  19. Threads like this make me SOOOOOOOO glad I bought myself a 2007 truck at the time that I did. I had a chance to score a 2008 at that time with about the same mileage as my 2007 had, for about the same money I paid for my 2007. Thank God I said NO WAY to the 2008.
  20. The argument presented by one, who happened to have his wife mistankenly refuel with gas: Looks like we have another individual who praises our beloved Bill Hewitt from powerstrokehurt.com.
  21. I'm going to tell all three of our service advisors to either turn these people away, or get the apprentice to do it, if they are insistent upon bringing it in for this recall.
