  1. Sorry guys.I have gotten no other info on this.If i do i will post
  2. All I know is when I was having a conference call with the field engineer and the hotline guy,he mentioned the fact that the filters do exist in the return lines. The field rep was not aware of this and was not either.I do not know if it is in any service publication. The hotline said that injector failure would occur due to backpressure on the system. He did not elaborate on it,so i'm not sure why.
  3. Guys please be aware that it takes very little def to cause fuel injection failures.Look very closely when performing the diesel fuel contamination job aid.You may find but one or two specs of def crystal on components, but that will be enough. The job aid shows what I believe to be excessive amounts of def in fuel. Also I was informed that there are filters in the fuel return lines that can become clogged, usually leading to injection failure.
  4. There is no way the diesel will get 50mpg.After we add on the bs gov regulations,I DOUBT it will get 35mpg.My field rep told me the 6.4L gets 25mpg in the ones they sell in Mexico, however the damn thing spews tons of particlate matter. Also if we stick a expensive polution device like the rocket on the 6.7.Just saying.
  5. The job aid for checking for def is a little misleading. The picture of def on filters and other components shows what i believe to be excessive amounts of def.mY FIELD ENGINEER found just a couple of chyrstals on the vcv. Therefore we have to condemn the whole fuel system on this truck.JUST REMENBER ,if you find 1 or 2 particules,it has already done something in.
  6. come to find out,the low pressure pump crapped out.had only 20 psi.now has 55 psi,but still fails the high pressure fuel test.the customer said there was a crap load of debris in filter, but I did not see that.I also removed and replaced the vcv,as it looked damaged.I would have to believe at this point the high pressure pump is the issue.
  7. I have a 2011 f-250 6.7 with a p0088 code, high pressure fuel rail code.they say it went into derate till they got it here and the check engine light was on.I went out to crank it and it would not start at first.after a couple of attempts it started and i brouht it in.The code was in memory.I went to pinpoint test m.States to perform high pressure fuel test.it passed this twice.says problem is intermittent and system functioning normally at this time.Wrote the htline and they suggest looking at fuel and check for filter replacement, although they did mention that one tech had to replace a vcv for this.anyone else see this?
  8. I don't know if it Was Brad, but at first we thought we had a bad ficm because it would not start after repair was done and had a series of high side codes to injectors. The tech installed another ficm and it will now start and codes are gone, but engine sounds like marbles in a garbage can.The hotline states that a ficm could not cause this to occur, but I wonder.
  9. Has anyone ever heard of a truck being overfueled after a ficm replacement? One of the guys I work with installed ficm.Test drove no problem.Pulle up in lane and started running poorly.Went on further test drive and truck ran hot and quit. Now no compression on 7 and 8 and knocks like crazy.
  10. Have a econoline van with 5.8l.Came in with coolant leak.Mind you the water pump, intake and timing cover all been off prbottomeviously.Coolant pouring out under thermostat housing.go to remove only to find lower intake cracked where they tightened thermostat housing up and busted intake and bent thermostat housing.took dog house off the find coolant leaking at r/r anyway,so i procede to remove lower intake.guy i work with repaired lower intake and I installed it and new thermostat housing.fill witrh water and pressure test.find water coming out bottom of timing cover.Great.Procede to remove timing cover to find upper left bolt was left broken off in block.they crammed rtv in hole and slapped back together. Also found that I cannot drill out broken bolt.It is the one that goes next to where the coolant flows from the block to water pump.think maybe they broke an extracter off in there. At this time , sm and customer running out of patience,I am losing my ass on this job.Not due to my own fault.Asked to try and just reseal timing cover against my best judgment.Slap on plenty of grey rtv and pray it seals.Well guess what?Still leaks coolant.i have no money,or do I wish to purchase a bit that would chew up broken bolt. This van belongs to a person who is handicapped, and they need it back.I am really sorry they bought a piece of crap, seeing it is a 95 model and all,but I have went the extra mile.I did not mention that i had to drill out two broken lower intake bolts and install heli coils.I have read where these timing covers can crack, but all I see is what looks like casting marks.Has anyone ran into this and what would be your suggestion for broken bolt?I do not like to give up on anything.I have diesel work to do that will pay my rent. This thing is sucking me dryHelp!!!!
  11. Buddy changed timing belt on 04 civic.now will only run with cam sensor unplugged.Any honda guys out there?
  12. Yes .I thought this was quite funny because the customer really did not want to pay for diag.I straightened that out with the service writer quickly.Went to take a fuel sample and nothing came out.Removed fuel filter cap and found a crap load of rust.Guess where that came from?Anyway, this was a test to see what kind of response I would recieve from members for such a lame question.
  13. 99 f-350 bucket truck.Says will stall at half a tank.brings it in with a full tank.any ideas?
  14. Lost my job 2 weeks ago to another tech.Came in on Monday morning and with no prior warning or anything was terminated.I am 47 and have only lost one other job and was only 18 and deserved thst one.I do diesel and gas repair and have done so for Ford for the last 12 yrs.I have a low comeback rate and turn my share of hours.I guess this guy is just better.I have been everywhere in the area and was wanted by 2 dealerships, but they had no place to put me.No body else hiring. It is a sign of the times I believe. And yes, most not all dealers have downsized.Worked for one Dealership that had 50 bays and 45 techs back in 2000.Now they have 20 techs and a lube team that does all the gravy. The economy in Jacksonville Fl really sucks and adds to the grief. If you like where you work, and make decent money YOU better stay.
  15. Thanks Keith. We got to looking and found there is an ominous leak from the transfer case.If you put in 4 high starts raising hell.
  16. This truck is a little before my time.In between shifts, sometimes a very loud thud, knock noise be heard.Sounds like it is coming from around the tran area.A pretty knowledgable guy in the shop thinks it may be the dual mass flywheel springs making a noise.I have heard of some dual mass flywheel issues, but do not have any material to back them up.He also said there was a problem with some kind of rivit breaking on the frame, but that appears ok.Thanks for your time.
  17. When I bought my vcm.it clearly stated that the software updates were good for 2 years.I just looked and it still clearly states the same thing.Do I have a case here? This is the same ol'bullshit about saying how they can make corrections on the internet, because it is inexpensive.Yes there are some corrections I am glad the dumbasses don't fix,but damn. This is on the pts website.
  18. Customer put gas or something other than diesel fuel in tank.Says he drove truck a couple of miles and it died.Found low pressure pump toast.replaced that and truck would barely run.high pressure fuel pump wiped out.replaced pump and injectors, lines the whole spill.Went to test drive truck and starts smoking and missing.Have missfire on number three.Take off oil cap and puffs like a train.Mind you all this on customer.truck has 15k miles and is a 2010.He is having a bad week.
  19. Does anyone have a part list for the high pressure fuel pump, injectors and lines and or other parts needed to fix a diesel run on gas.I thought I saw it somewhere but cannot put my hands on it.thanks. 2010 f-350

I think only applies to certain ones.Is there a way to find out what this supposed to do?

Wow.Has anyone else seen this?Sounds like the miracle for the 6.4 engine.Fixes smoking, fueling and coolant loss issues.I wonder................
