  1. I have been hired back at a dealership. I have not started yet but receive two emails with my login for stars and my temporary password. Since your stars ID is now your user ID how do you enter it when it is 9 digits long and it only has space for eight digits?

  4. Has anyone seen or heard of built in tool storage for techs. The dealership I'm moving to is installing them in the new shop they're building. My service manager me he had seen pictures at another Ford dealer, but could not remember which one.Any ideas?
  5. I think I will remove the valve cover and unplug individual injectors to see which one is overfueling. By the way passes buzz test. Still dont know why the alt light is on now. As I said it is charging fine. Unless I have the wrong harness. Double checked all my connections
  6. ok. installed harness, which by the way I had to change two connectors on so they would fit, but now alternator light on even though it is charging 14.2v. Anyways, replaced the damaged harness and replaced number 4 injector because it failed contribution test. At first when I viewed data It would not show up any per del on any cyl period. Now I have showing 3,5 and 8 over 3 percent .Also the thing is boiling out fuel,but if I unplug bank 1 harness it stops and actually runs better on just one bank. I think I have heard of people replacing and injector only to find another one pops up bad. Also, now when I run the cyl contribution test, one time it will fail cyl 5 and the next time 3 and then maybe 8. I have ohmed out all the injectors and they ohm out ok. I suppose there is one or more injectors on bank one that is causing the horrific fuel smoke. Since I have no way to kill cylinders do I just recommend more injectors?
  7. Found power wire and number 4 wire chaffed and rubbing together in harness near valve cover gasket connector. Waiting approval for harness, injector wiring and number 4 injector.
  8. I have a 2002 7.3 that is missfiring and will harly move with boiling black smoke. Has p1316 and p2117. As per pinpoint tested but found no valve cover or injector issue on bank one as it states it is related to cyl 1. The injector code was a hard code and 1316 was continues. Cleared codes and none come back.passes buzz test and passes. Ran contribution test and states number 4 cyl problem. I have little experience with 7.3. I am leaning towards the idm ,but wonder if it could have injector grounded. Thoughts?
  9. Do you need medium duty software to program the idm? Ids will not cummunicate with this truck. Is it special software from Ford?
  10. This truck has an intermittent loss of throttle.It is an active code. We have no manual on these trucks. Any ideas?
  11. Have a 2014 f 450 that someone in my shop installed an acm, but didn't download configuration data.Radio plays but steering wheel controls and sync inop. I am trying to figure out how to manually install as built data. When I go to as built on ids,it does not give my that option.Please help. Thanks
  12. My boss thinks that any truck is a truck and all can be diagnosed and repaired without proper software and repair manuals. Does anyone know of a good article that can talk some since into him? And what are your thoughts on the matter?
  13. Ran eec test on ipc module and bcm.no codes. However, now I am seeing the temp reading is stuck on 50F and it is 90F outside. I can control all the gauges with active command. They all respond normally when I command them.Not sure which direction to go in

  17. Once I took a second look, I found the leak was from the radiator hose. The o rings in these leak when cold just like the 6.4
  18. Helping a buddy with this truck. It is the 5.0 L by the way. It appears that the leak is coming from between the block and the tranny bellhousing. We have looked pretty well at this and strongly think the leak is from one of the two coolant plugs in the back of the block. Has anyone else ever run into this? Thanks
  19. The tank selector valve was the fix for this one. It was weird that I had low low fuel pressure on both tanks in the beginning before replacing the low pressure pump Thanks for all the suggestions and info which helped greatly.
