I do agree with you Mike. Not much we can do to avoid any headaches anymore.
-
Hmmm let me think about that. 17 or 18 MPG with a V10 vs 7 or 8 MPG with a 6.4L. $8000.00 less for a V10 vs high maintenance costs and tons of down time and all the headaches when the 6.4L breaks ( and break, it will) vs a gravy tuneup once in a while. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

You can all do it anyway you want, but I still prefer 245 ft/lb's on a set of ARP studs with the cab off. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif Simplicity just makes sense to me. Kinda like a V10 vs. a 6.4L.

I had one last weak that would not recognize the customers thumb drive with the update. Did the TSB for reprgramming the APIM and it worked fine after that. Pays 0.4 hours and it took me 2 hours because it had a brain fart half way through the reprogram and I had to install the updates for the sync system on the laptop. Nice. Keith, you need to insert a smiley that portrays being bent over and possibly a bottle of Prep H.

That would most likeley be Denny Andrews Ford in the North west end. How did ya like those Saskatchewan pot holes Aaron? When I left Saskatchewan, I had a sign across my tailgate that said: Goodbye and goodridens to all the high taxes, poverty, and freakin potholes! Hello Alberta! Every time I stopped for fuel or a leak, I had people pull in behind me off the highway just to tell me they liked my sign. As Jim said earlier, It's great to embark upon an adventure. I think I'm even starting to feal adventurous again. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk2.gif

Are You Replacing DPF's?
DwayneGorniak replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Yup, for black smoke. I've replaced about seven or eight as well. Half of them had Airaid cold air air breathers. The others were just junk I guess. -
Make sure you save every single receipt for the rentals, fuel, food and all expences acumulated while moving. Every bit of it is a write off when moving for a career change. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

Dead Heading 03' Injection pumps
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I put a pump in it and she's Taco Bell! I don't see many of these ole girls fail the pumps so memory gets a little foggy. -
Good luck and the best to ya. Way to go for it! I've always said: you will never know unless you try.

Just did head gaskets on an 03" engine. It is now a fargin no start with only 250psi ICP. Air pressure tests lead to no leaks at injection rails but toward injection pump and IPR. Sound did not change when IPR commanded shut with shop air applied to system. Removed IPR and screen is all FUBAR and full of crap. Replaced IPR. Still the same. I have made up a plug for the top of these pumps so I can dead head them and look for leaks. Air is coming out the back of the pump. Replaced the pump and thuought I would check one more time. New pump has lots of air coming out back of pump while dead headed. Do I put this P.O.S back together and try it or do I have a bad new pump? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif I'm thinkin I gatta crappy pump. Anyone else ever run into this? I have replace these pumps before and never had this happen.

I agree with Keith. I have cleaned many of these filters myself. I have never seen one damaged though.

Sick-O Turbo Cleaning
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
My Snap-on guy was here yesterday and was in total shock that the shop wouldn't buy a $155.00 tool to make us more efficient. He couldn't stop laughing. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hahaha.gif -
Sick-O Turbo Cleaning
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Got her all together last nite and got to use it on a Turbo first thing this morning. Man, I wish I would have had this thing for all the others. Five more turbo jobs at my wage and it is paid for. After that, it is nothing but money in the bank. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif -
I have done this and it didn't work. I also consider this dangerous. What brainstorm engineer came with the idea of pointing a nozzle that can spray anywhere from 5,000psi to 25,000psi straight up at your head or face or very close to it?

Sick-O Turbo Cleaning

Just picked up my sand blasting cabinet and some glass beads. Now I gotta put it all together. I'll try to get that done tomorrow night. -
Sick-O Turbo Cleaning
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Since they revised this TSB, the revised version of 08-16-13 states in step 9,c: NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMP TO CLEAN RUST OR CORROSION, OR PITTING FROM THE CENTER HOUSING FLANGE OR HUB. So with that being said, we should be replacing the center housing anyway and only cleaning the compressor housing, vanes, and unison ring. Thanks for the tips Bruce. Glass beads it is. -
Sick-O Turbo Cleaning
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I think I misread and missunderstood your post. Looking at it now, it looks like you are telling me just simply not to blast any moving parts such as the vanes maybe? How about the unison ring, do you just buff it or do you glass bead that as well? -
Sick-O Turbo Cleaning
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
So, your sayin to sandblast the compressor housing and the unison ring? Have you had any success sandblasting these yourself? I would like to figure out whether to to purchase glass beads or sand before I pick the unit up tomorrow night. -
Inford Message Board "Heroes".....AGAIN!!!
DwayneGorniak replied to mchan68's topic in The Water Cooler
This guy may as well just smear muffler cement all around the seam. About the same quality of repair I figure. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif -

What a Fargin Jackass! Maybe I'll call him a wiener and see if I can get booted off. -
Another vote from me as well for IDS. And especially for the fact that you will have a laptop that you can load another scan tool system on to it such as Autoenginuity. So you can have two scan tools all in one package. Just makes sense to me.

I was leaning toward glass beading Bruce. Anyone else have feedback on the differences? -
Sick-O Turbo Cleaning
DwayneGorniak replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I phoned Princess Auto after I posted this topic and secured one. I will be picking it up Tuesday night after work. Can't wait. I'll just have to get my electronic labeler out and put the same sign on it as I put on all my other equipment: PROPERTY OF DWAYNE GORNIAK. FUCK OFF AND GO USE THE SHOP'S EQUIPMENT! Other techs used to grab my battery charger untill I put that sign on it. I work with some of the cheapest bastards you could probably ever work with. They will file a screwdriver down to a punch or a chisel before they will go to Peavey Mart and buy a set of punches and chisels for $9.00. And that's no bull. -
I just purchased a wheel stud buffer from my MAC tool dude for cleaning around the pins for the VGT vanes in the turbine housing. He informed me that alot of other dealerships are purchasing sand blasters to clean the housings and it cuts down on the time to clean drastically. I thought, hey this is a good idea. Ran it by my service manager and he did the usual laugh and rolled his eyes in the back of his head. Fucker! So....I just recieved a sale flyer in the mail today for Princess Auto and I can purchase a whole complete floor model standing sand blaster cabinet for $155.00. So on Tuesday (payday) I'm going to buy this unit for myself and use it to clean turbo's. So, I just wanted some thoughts on what you guys are using out there for cleaning these pieces of crap. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif And another side note: Isn't it retarded that the centre housing for the 05's is $300.00 more than a whole freakin turbo and more labour intensive to repair? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif And Ford is saving money how? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
