Wireless VCM Module
DwayneGorniak replied to Keith Browning's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
I will most llikely buy one and I have tried plugging one in. It didn't even light up. -
Yep, happens alot at our dealership. However, I do remove the keys and keep them in my pocket untill I'm done. Our customers roam free allover as they please. I never have minded someone inquiring about what is going on with their vehicle, But I can't stand apprenticing them. Did I ever tell you about the time I was pulling on a 36 inch pry bar a nd slipped and nailed an old geezer right in the chest? I thought he was haveing a heart atack, but it turned out out I just knocked the wind out of him. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hahaha.gif

The ones I did were "Customer Waiting" to get the hell out of the dealership jobs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whew.gif. But like I said before we have a strong clientel of dedicated 7.3L customers that are booking their trucks in for the recalls right now along with some extra service work as well. It is these kind of customers that allow us to give their vehicle the proper attention that they need. I did two more after that last post. One resulted in a four wheel brake job because he had it booked in for brake noises as well. We do take advantage of the moment when we know we can get them on our hoists and give them a good look over. But then there are the "Customer Waiting" jobs. Still sitting in the damn thing, just waiting to get the hell out of here so they don't have to spend a dime while your popping in a free part. And that is the only reason they have paid a visit to the dealership. Alot of them are first time and last time customers as well. And like I said before, if we can give a good lookover and win some work out of it, GREAT! But there are those that just don't want to be won over. They have their Indy shops that send them our way for the free stuff. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=271&limit=recent This is a typical Monday at Fourlane Ford. These photo's were taken on October 22/07. I just never found the time to show them off. my days are still going like this. I had two sets of head gaskets on the go and then there was the F-150 5.4L engine job as well. http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=272&limit=recent The young man with the pipes pulling on the breaker bar is my young apprentice torquing down a set of heads for me while I capture these fine moments. They other young man is a young high school trainee theat is doing the injector o-rings for me. They grow up so fast, don't they? And yes I do work myself, when I am not taking photos.

Did four in the last two days. Customers drive in through the write up area, I get paged to sevice desk, handed an R.O and a cam sensor, whip under on my creeper with a pry bar and a 10mm socket on my 1/4" ratchet, pop it out and in and wave good bye as they pull away. No up sells here.

6.0 E-van compression test
DwayneGorniak replied to BillWiebe's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Even the rear harness wasn't a concern once I lifted the body. The whole ordeal was a piece of cake. All the bolts were in easy spots to get too, So up up and away she went. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't even worry about it. -
Got one here right now with P0196 and Hotline told me to change the thermostats. They also said to look for casting pourosity when I have the T-stats out.

Any thing is possible with a torch and a four foot hole saw, Bill. Hee Hee. Good luck, They suck SH!T! Sorry dude, I feel for ya. Just thinking about it makes me think I will start drinking for you. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif However, any engine I have ever done on one of these made me lift the body off. Even on an ambulace with a cube body. I wouldn't even consider any other way. May the force be with you and cheers. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif -
It's a little different here. We a have a dedicated clientel of 7.3L customers that bring their trucks in for regular service and repairs. But then we also have the ones that just phone here and say that they had their truck scanned at an independent shop and what they were told to replace didn't work. So they want free information and a price on scanning their truck. I tell them we don't scan trucks, we deiagnose them. And they usually don't show up anyway untill it's on a hook and they have been around the ringer so many times that they have no other options.

I can't see a whole lot of upsales happenin either. Alot of people will be coming in just for the fact that are getting something for free. And without spending extra time scanning a 7.3L it is hard to tell if anything is wrong with them anyway. They have four inches of crankcase pressure and still run smooth. And being as busy as I am, I will be whippin under these things on a creaper and punting them out as fast as I can to get my 0.3hrs. Flat rate stupid busy vs. looking for work on a 0.3 job? Hmmm. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

I look at ICP on every single truck I work on Jim. I find bad ICP's on early builds all the time and I have even found a couple lately on later ones. ICP is something that I see overlooked all too often. And I have won over alot of customers that have gone through reflash repairs at other dealerships and all kinds of Egr valves, etc. I never trust ICP sensors. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

Rate is really bad. Flat rate, warranty rate, repair rate, customers being I-rate. Flat is also really bad: Flat rate, cylinder head Flatness couldn't possibly be out of specs and Mother FoMoCo couldn't possibly choke down the idea of falling "flat" on her face after going Bankrupt because of the warranty repair rate on the Sick-0. These are all things that Mother FoMoCo just doesn't want to here. Diesel is also really bad because it has the word "DIE" in it. And Mother FoMoCo doesn't want to hear about how much the Sick-0 "DIES". What if an ambulance didn't make it to the hospital on time because it died and then the patient died? Oh no, Mother FoMoCo couldn't possibly fathem something like that. Mother FoMoCo has given birth to her prize little Nazi sensorbot and shut her ears to all of us cussing little bastards who have become totally I-rate and pissed off at the Flat rate SLTS times, slashed warranty rates, shitty reman parts, kicked back R.O's, and every other sickening political condemnation that she has pumped down all of our throats. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif I learnt it all from Alex. Honest. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Welcome aboard Ron. I'm sure you will enjoy this site alot more than that freakin Protech. Is that Rick Christie you're talkin about? He has always been my favourite instructor. A real good shit. As for what I drink, it's usually Blue or MGD. And yes the MGD is better up here than south of the border. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif -

Can you restore your computer to an earlier day and get it back Kieth? -
I have never seen this on a 7.3l but have seen it on Sick-0's. The ones I have had like that on Sick-0's all had faulty fuel pumps or had had pumps changed in the past. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

Well Jim,I'm surprised it took you this long to get fed up. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk2.gif I have been fed up with the "left hand at Ford doesn't know the right hand" situation for many years. I guess that's where we can still find comfort in our payday's and the liquor store being on the way home hugh? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

I am seeing this problem on F-series very very regularly.

The ole noggin healed up just fine. Still growing my hair back. Natural barley and Hops medication makes everything better. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif -
It's about freakin time they updated that TSB. Three months ago, I did a fifteen thousand dollar repair on an 08' that injested water through the rear tank and had taken out the whole injection system. After one month of arguing with engineers that it is a problem Ford has had since 1999 and threatening to give the customer a copy of the old TSB to take to court, they finally paid the bill. And now we have recognition. However, don't you think they should just fix the problem properly right at the assembly line? It is an emission related component that is Ford's responsibility. The TSB is like shutting the barn door after they have left the horses out.
