The miracle of the flash...

How about a Thanksgiving Turkey Fry? I've got me 28 foot beer fridge (Holliday Trailer) and the necessities all ready to go. -
Look what waits for me tomorow

Looks like oil in the coolant though. Or is it just shit? -
I agree with you Keith. The bullshit is real thick with that story. Could be a high pressure fuel leak under the covers. Could be bad injectors. I am starting to see problems with these injectors. I have one in the shop right now with a melted glow plug and piston on cylinder number 2. Crankcase is overfull by almost five inches. DPF is hooped from oversaturation. The oversaturation of the DPF is what would cause the DPF pressure sensure to sense increased pressure in the exhaust and cause the truck to go into regen continuously.

I'm so confused....
DwayneGorniak replied to Jim Warman's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
With all the crap like this coming out of the factory, I guess you could look at it as a new form of preventative maintenance. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif -
New Injector Recall!!!

Just wait till you get to the one on the left hand side that connects the front cover to the degas bottle. It has a piece of shit little hook on it to hook the wiring harness into /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif. Trust me, don't event try to put the harness back into it if you get the harness out without breaking it. Use a zip tie around the pipe. If you take a good look at these plastic pieces of shit, you will see that they are a two piece molded together piece of fucking garbage. I can't believe they build shit like this. They build this shit for the ideal world. And the ideal world does not fucking exist out in the real world /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif. Man engineers really burn my ass /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/flamethrower.gif -

Avg Normal pay for head gaskets
DwayneGorniak replied to Tony302600's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I used to think looking up my own time was a real pain in tha ars. But I sure don't think that way anymore. We still have a warranty clerk to enter in all the times and keep tabs on us so that we don't overcharge. But I would never go back to having asomeone who has absolutely no idea as to what is what under the hood doing my labour times ever again. -

Wow, you guys are getting right fucked! 20-25 hours. We look up our own times here on SLTS and we make sure we don't get fucked like that. 05' F-350 4X4: R&R cyl heads=6051AT 14.3 EGR cooler=6051A20 0.2 Cooling system diag asper TSB07-14-05=8005D 0.4 Termostat diag=857B 0.9 Add in all your 6005F diag as per TSB to make sure all tempuratures, cooling fan, sensors, etc are all in range. Plus the Tsb has a labour operation of MT071405 on top of that for extras. There are a few labour op erations that I can't even think of at the moment. But holy crap, I would be pissed! I suggest you guys get to know SLTS and watch your warranty clerks (nazi's)and learn how to not get fucked. -

Another Cummins Conversion Site
DwayneGorniak replied to Keith Browning's topic in General Diesel Engines
I personally think a 7.3L and a 5.9 Cummins are equal in quality. Therefore I think it is absolutely crazy to go from a 7.3L to a Cummins /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif. You can build up a 7.3L into a very nice machine. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif Removing the tried tested and true 7.3L is just plain bastardizing your truck. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif However, going from a Sick litre /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif that will leave you stranded at any freekin time to a Cummins would be well worth it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif Some people may not like the Cummins but at least it has a well known track record and not an enormous repair rate like the Sick-o. Just my two cents again. -
What Do You Charge for AVR on 6.0L E & F-Series?
DwayneGorniak replied to mchan68's topic in Body, Chassis and Electrical
0.6 for AVR and 0.5 per battery. retail is real nice on alternator r&r as well. I would have to look it up again, but I know it is over two hours. -
My dealership and I have a great understanding about these kind of trucks due my work load. I do not have the time to mess with crap like that. My workload and jobs are already too big as it is. Here is my stand that is agreed upon in my dealership: Anything over the cab gets cut off with a torch by me and welded on by the owner and I don't care about the paint job, or they get in a proffesional welder to do it, or I go home and surf the web for a new job. They have never disagreed with me on that either. Thank the good lord for that. We advise all our customers in our area when they are buying a cab and chasis unit "not to put anything over the freekin cab" if they don't want exessive down time. I sure feel sorry for you on that one Brad.

I've had the same dtc's as well and it turned out being valves as well. And that tool is huge piece of shit. I will be working on figuring out something better than that.
-
And don't forget the amount of our income that we invest into our tools to do our job. last year I averaged $500.00 a month. Just imagine what that would add up to by the time I retire if I was able to put that money in retirement savings. And up here, I can't even write that off. Last year the government allowed me a whole whopping $500.00 for the year.
-
Seen a few old timers retire myself. Banged up, crippled up, scarred up and fed up with not a whole lot to show for but alot of dept. But then again that was when I was in Saskatchewan where the economy was absolutely terrible. We have one tech in our dealership right now who is still slugging away at it and is about to retire in two or three years. A really good grumpy old bugger, but he's a good shit. And he's doing pretty darn well for himself out here in Alberta.

Absolutely Disgusted
DwayneGorniak replied to snw blue by you's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
My service manager won't let me fill out any prior approval sheets because he knows how I will fill them out. It has happened before. But I always write down all the mod's on the R.O. And when we go through audits, my R.O's get picked on because of the modifications written down. Warning: never lie for your management. Always write down the mods on the R.O. That way, no one can say you never notified managemant. When I was Foreman at a previous dealership, the auditors pulled techs into the board room and had private meetings with us individually as to why all these trucks were being warrantied. It was a total interogation. I told all my techs back then the same thing and to always cover their own ass. After the private meetings, the auditors nailed the ever living shit out of the dealer principal with huge charge back who just so happened to be acting as service manager at the time. I justt smiled and said, "told ya so". Never accept responsibility for hiding modifications. It's easy to get caught. You never know what the other dealership technicians have told Hotline about the these type of vehicles. That was how that last dealership got caught. And not only that, it is just morally wrong. -
I call it Red ribonned. A nice big red ribon syaing "WARRANTY HAS BEEN CANCELLED".

6.4 mpg what are you guys seeing
DwayneGorniak replied to kevin phillips's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Keep in mind Alex that our gallons are bigger than the U.S gallons. 4.546 litres vs. 3.9 litres. And what you are saying is about the same mileage all my customers are getting out here. And Jim, I agree with you. So here is my tactic: I tell the customer that these things absolutely suck compared to my 7.3L (salt in the open wound of heavy financing and not being able to afford fuel) and I tell them I can check the fuel economy with my IDS. "BUT", If it is acceptable in my opinion it is one hour retail. And that's just the freekin way it is. I never see them back after that complaining about fuel economy. -
I'd bet my Aspire could at least chirp the tires and give that pile of crap a run for it's money. ol.
-
all across Canada, the dyed fuel is at the ULSD level. Every pump across this country is at ULSD. Don't know how it is for you folks down yonder though.

Well it looks like the jackass finally did it. If you read his profile, he says he is a GM district parts manager. What next?
