Is that internal in your dealership that they are not paying it? That's just not acceptable. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

High pitched squeal at 30 psi
DwayneGorniak replied to vloney's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have a two foot piece of 1/4" brake line that is bent 45 degree at the last two inches of the pipe. I put that pipe inside of the rubber hose on my stethoscope and run down along the pipes. I always find leaks with this tool. Warning: this can really hurt your ears if you get it too close to the exhaust leak or if the pitch is really high. -
A question about head-studs...
DwayneGorniak replied to Alex Bruene's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
We have started installing ARP head studs at our dealership only for very good customers and ones that are close to being off of warranty or obviously retail customers. Most customers are very pleased to hear that we can give them an improvement on their cylender head repair. We just don't want to give the assholes that option. Example of why: You tell a customer who is a total asshole that you can improve the quality of a head gasket repair by installing ARP studs. The next thing you know, they phone ford and bitch and whine and cry for them to pay for the studs. Then you have Ford breathing down your neck for installing aftermarket parts. So we tread very carefully with this type of advise given to customers. And as for the Quality, I strongly recomend putting studs in. We have never had one come back. Anything is better than those cheap rubbery Mexican bolts they put in at the factory. -
Ahhhhhhh but they do want you to go after the root cause if you read TSB 06-25-14 which I have been doing the whole time. They just have sneeky politics and don't want to advertise it too loudly. Damn nazi's! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif

HP oil branch tubes.
DwayneGorniak replied to JAKE_MORSE's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Don't worry Jake, I was calling bull on the bull shitter that told you he can do it in an hour. And I would say just do it the right way and let the other guy lose his job over faulty workmanship. Oh and by the way, I don't know of any tricks that would not compromise quality. So just go for quality. -

Just the STC alone in the TSB pays 8 hours and I too call bullshit on the one hour. -
Air Filters & MAF
DwayneGorniak replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have seen this with cartridge inserts made by "Green" filters and the AFE Itself. Also with aftermarket exhaust systems because they draw more air through the engine. And yes these early birds are quite sensitive. -

Not up here. We just get summer jackets that don't keep us warm in the winter. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif I'm just kidding, I'm sure they think something of us. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

You could smoke the bitch too. Meaning that you would hook the smoke machine up to the crankcase and see where it is coming out of. The shop vac idea is a good one too. Oh and having a neck like a giraffe and a head the size of a sparrow might be quite desireable as well. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

“We have had them break down while transporting a patient to the hospital. It did delay care when we had to send another ambulance when one didn’t start.” I was wondering when (not if) it would get to this point. About a year ago someone made a post on our Canadian Protech website (titled: "A site for sore eyes") stating that he had seen his first Duramax ambulance and that it had almost brought a tear to his eyes knowing that he would see less six litre ambulance failures because of this. I had replied in my usuall "joking" I repeat "JOKING" sarcastic manor just this: " And just think of how much better the odds of saving a life are because you know the Duramax will actually make it to the hospital". It was in absolutely no time that I was hauled into my dealer principals office and ripped a new asshole. The head dudes from Ford in Oakville had phoned my D.P. and had ripped him a new asshole about my comment. They were concerned that I had opened a can of worms that could get out into public and allow someone to sue them over a loss of life. My reply to all of that was just simple. "I am not the asshole that built this piece of shit. And if they are that concerned, they should be doing something about the product." I know I am opening myself up to a world of attack here. But before I get attacked, let me say this. I was born and raised believing in nothing but Fords. I came to work in this Ford industry living and breathing nothing but Blue Oval propaganda. At that time no one could convince me that there was anything else better out there. Boy did my eyes get opened over the years. I still am a dedicated tech to this industry, but reality is reality. And no matter how much you polish a piece of shit, it will never ever become a gem. All right, let her rip. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cover.gif

A look at how dangerous our jobs are
DwayneGorniak replied to Tony302600's topic in The Water Cooler
At two previous dealerships I worked at, I Had old Hydralift two post hoists in my bay that were worn right out. The first dealership didn't do anything untill I dropped three trucks off my hoist and the bodyshop bills were racking up. The second dealership was when I was a Foreman. I dropped three trucks off that same piece of crap style hoist and then refused to work on the hoist after that. The dealer principal thought I was just a whiner and that it was something I was doing wrong untill an apprentice dropped two trucks off the hoist. I had called in the hoist inspection company and they deamed it unsafe. I also had to threaten to call Occupational Health and safety before the cheap ass owner would buy a new hoist. It is extremely pathetic when dealerships are so damn cheap and don't give a rats ass about the safety of their employees, yet the dealer principals will have the fanciest offices and furniture and will stop at no expence for their own comfort. -

DwayneGorniak replied to Tony302600's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I often wonder if we are the Homer Simpson's of the world. We could probably walk into a radioactive sensitive area and set off bells and alarms and have people running up to us in full body armour suits so that we don't contaminate them and have them put us in isolation chambers as experimental study specimens. -

You can also unhook the Ebp rod and go for a road test. Just wire the valve open. Oh and Jim, forget about the microwaveable popcorn. That shit will kill you. It's all over the news right now. There is a chemical in it that causes lung cancer when you breeth it in. They have recalled a bunch of product. And they are finding that lung cancer has been showing up in popcorn factory employees since 1985. Maybe that's why Orville Redenbacher died, hugh? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Gee, do you think mother nature is trying to tell us something? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Sorry for the sidetrack, but Jim got me goin. -
Reflashing Used FICM's
DwayneGorniak replied to Bruce Amacker's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have actually had success doing this Bruce. I had a couple of donors off of complete engines that I snaffued. But what I do before I install them is do a Programmable module intallation. As soon as you install the so called new one and hit tick, the IDS goes through a mudule erase before it reprograms the replacement module. Maybe you have already done this, but hey it worked for me. And I have taken FICM's from other trucks to try them out on a suspect trucks and they have always fired up as well. -
I have my calls screened as well, Jim. But out of frustration and being severely annoyed I prey on the ones that do make it through to me. Just had one a weak ago where the local indy shop phoned me for advise on injector ckt codes on every cylinder of an 04' sick litre. I play dumb and tell them that it sounds like the pcm is confused and that they should change it. They guy says, yeah that's what I thought. Last I heard, they had one on order. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

DwayneGorniak replied to Alex Bruene's topic in 4.5L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Just did a Sick-o like that last week. Warranty claim kicked back because they figure the labour ops overlap with the TSB. So I had to send inventive comments back to explain to these mechanically illiterate warranty nazi's how I had more that one problem with high pressure oil leaks on this truck and had to repair it twice. Havn't heard back from them yet. -
Same as Alex.

I spend every bit of my spare time enjoying every minute away from work. I have a 28 foot travel trailer that I call my 28 foot beer fridge and my family and I spend every weekend throughout the summer in it. We head out toward the mountains and do alot of back forty exploring. I have a generator so it doesn't matter where I am, I have power. I can go anywhere and be comfortable. My three and a half year old boy just loves it when we go out. It truly is a recreation that allows my family to bond and get away from home and see new places, do some quaddin' and drink a whole lot of beer. I also do alot of hunting. Oh, and like Alex said, I abuse Beer too. I also ride bike in the evenings and some weekends as well and just go for a cruise. Home theatre and music is also another stress reliever for me. I get pretty deep into the electronis world. Gotta love it. And I am always tinkering with something.

October of 1995 for my 7.3L DIT training. And you weren't kidding about being built to last and outlasting the government's emmissions plans. And look at the crap we have now. oh well, I guess we have job security for life. -
I have put harnesses in these ugly bastards myself Aaron. I lift the body off and it makes your life a whole lot easier. Don't worry about finding a job. If you showed up on our doorstep, you would only have to unload your tools and get your ars in gear to take some load off my shoulders. And I'm pretty sure Jim would have a spot for you too. Are you staying in the oil city or are you broadening your horizon? Sorry for getting off topic Jim. I will have to look into the EVTM to see what the hell you are talking about.
