  1. Somethin' you will ONLY ever forget to do ONCE. Kinda like soldering up the wire all nice' date=' then noticing the heat shrink tube is sitting on the radiator support [/quote'] I'm pretty sure everyone here can sympathize with you on that one Aaron!
  2. I left the spacer out on the first 7.3 I ever did, but my excuse is another guy pulled it, so can it really be my fault? luckily it was an e-van, so i only had to pull it back about a foot so I could get it in through the doghouse.....i'm pretty sure that will NEVER happen again!!!!
  3. That is quite impressive....I like the incorporated PTO drive on the auto trans.....was wondering if they were gonna do that since I heard the manual trans would be no more!
  4. Yes Keith, the 6.4's are also limited to 80(450/550) and 96(250/350). Same as the 6.0's. I haven't noticed if they can be programmed for limiting though.
  5. Individual cylinder heads......BRILLIANT!!!!
  6. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! WHAT A STUPID MISTAKE!!!!
  7. +1. I usually stick them in the freezer for a couple hours after installing o-rings on them.
  8. Not even the new snap-on scanner (name escapes me now) that replaces the modis can. My SM's brother works at a shop down the road, and they do alot of 6.0 work, I get called to take the IDS down there to run PB tests all the time.
  9. Wow....I've done several short blocks and completes in these trucks, but haven't seen any repeats....like Brad said....please keep those things in mississippi! I would say it's just some bad luck! Hopefully this time it's good to get out of warranty!
  10. One of the most common words in the english language is the word THE. Case and point I just used it 4 times in one sentence!
  11. I do beleive you are correct sir!
  12. Yes.....wonder how I screwed that one up?!?! Oh well....thanks for correcting me there, I edited my link, so it works for the right site now.
  13. PERHAPS A 5.0 L? (6.7 * .75 APPROX.) 6 CYL VERSION OF THE 6.7 IN DEVELOPMENT. IT WILL BE INTERESTING AND LIKELY VERY PROFITABLE IF FORD EVER DECIDES TO PUT SOMETHING IN PRODUCTION!
  14. CETANE, ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT THE F-150 DIESEL MAY BE A POSSIBILITY IN THE NOT FAR DISTANT FUTURE? I THINK THAT WOULD BE A VERY WISE DECISION ON FORD'S PART TO JUMP ON THAT AND GET IT IN PRODUCTION BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!
  15. Keep posting on fmc's board, 15 replies and still not deleted
  16. Just remember, the 'relative compression test' is just that "relative", I don't trust it much on a 6.4 as I had one that was missing pretty bad, all kinds of smoke, #8 was below -60 on power balance. Relative compression showed 0% varriance on all cylinders. Didn't quite sound right when cranking, so I thought I'd do a manual compression on it and would you believe that cylinder 8 was around 50 psi with all others on that bank around 320! Some 'relative' compression! That was my first experience with a blowed up 6.4, and now it seems like a normal occurence for me!
  17. The first 6.4 I did, this is the message I got, and my SM had me do a short block and head still, with coolers and 8 injectors (per hotline). We're in level 2 audit now, and our auditor told my SM we were supposed to have done a complete with that approval message, my SM was shocked, and then grateful that they're not charging back.
  18. wow....anytime i've exceeded cost cap, this is the message i receive.
  19. ALRIGHT EVERYONE, HIT THE FORD MESSAGE BOARDS AND REPLY TO MY NEW POST '6.7 LITER INFO' REGARDING THE COFFEE TABLE BOOK, LET'S SEE IF WE CAN'T GET SOME RESULTS FROM FORD!
  20. 25-30 FOR MOTOR, 30-35 FOR HEADS, 40-45 FOR SHORTBLOCK
  21. 300 IS COMPLETELY ACCEPTABLE, DEPENDING ON ELEVATION. AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS YOU WILL GENERALLY SEE AROUND 300 - 330 PSI. WHEN I USED TO WORK DOWN AT SEA LEVEL, THEN IT WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE WE GENERALLY SAW MUCH CLOSER TO 400 PSI THERE. I'M OVER 5000' ABOVE SEA AND WE SEE A GOOD ENGINE WITH ABOUT 310 PSI.
  22. I'm guessing you submitted for prior approval on a short block and head, coolers, turbos, and the response you got was something along the lines of:
  23. Actually, I've generally seen this type of failure get a complete - gotta wait about a week for it to show up since it comes right off the assembly line. Got metal transfer into the turbos, right now Ford has asked for maintenance records, the customer has done all their own maintenance, so hopefully for their sake they've got some receipts. Talking to my service manager, if they can provide maintenance for 3 oil changes and 2 fuel filters, we should be ok.
