  1. Personally, I like to use the word faulty. everything is faulty!
  2. Just got done doing a shortblock and head in this beast, CAB ON! This is the belt system on this sucker, 2 alternators, 2 a/c compressors, 3 belts, primary a/c system takes 6.5lbs, didn't disconnect the secondary, just laid it aside.
  3. We stock a 6.4L enhanced short block, just finished putting one in a 'party bus' (cab on)!
  4. Cummin's West, the other local Cummin's/Allison dealer does ours($500.00 each), our shop foreman gave our SM a price on getting a cleaner for us (we are a Ford, Isuzu, Cummin's, Hino, UD, Allison Dealer)
  5. Is that 's way of saying they didn't like your answers!
  6. I just figured that was a requirement, that's how they come out here, and that's how we got them when I was in Wyoming. I'm gonna have to agree with Jim on this one, this thing needs a motor.
  7. I am often asked to be the certified tech for one of the guys I work with, he's been in the business for several years, but is new to the 'dealership world' and they haven't got him fully trained yet, he's very intelligent and good at what he does, so I don't mind doing it on his, but whenever I do, it get's a flag from my timesheet with the letters 'DND' in the corner, this stands for 'Did Not Do'. Management doesn't know that I add these letters every time they ask for a flag, but it's my way of looking out for #1. If it ever comes down to an audit situation with Ford, you can bet I'll tell them what really happened!
  8. All of our tool dealers (Matco, Snap-on, Cornwell, Mac) carry the same one. They charge abouy $7.00.
  9. Does it "suck" the pedal to the floor when pressing the pedal? I've seen this a couple times with a bad hydro-boost, it'll also wipe out a new pump in a hurry! Never noticed the collapsed supply line to the pump though. The one's I've seen were older, 7.3's and early 6.0's.
  10. Do you have an injector kill box you can hook up, I'm leaning towards injectors myself, I've seen it multiple times, had one a while back that had this code, initial diag - tank coming apart, wiped out fuel pump, replaced pump, tank, filter, flushed lines, good for 2 days, came back with a P1211 in it again, and ended up needing 3 injectors as proved with the kill box.
  11. I will be repairning the one in my stall starting tomorrow morning, it was approved late this afternoon by the fleet warranty company! THAT JUST MADE MY PAYCHECK!! It's been a little slow the last week or so.
  12. I've got an '08 F450 sitting in my stall right now, it's been there for a week, waiting for the customers fleet company to approve a $9,000 repair bill, came in on the hook - crank no start - P0088, P2269, P2289, P2291. Fuel sample from the HFCM was 50% water/rust, sucked the fuel from the secondary housing into a bottle - about 20% water/rust. Bottom of secondary housing is covered with rust/corrosion. And the Fleet warranty company wants to know 'why won't ford pay for this repair?'....
  13. Bruce, We had problems with a couple of our laptops and software where it said that constantly, but others would connect no problem, we have to manually enter the software update from the start menu. IIRC it's 'start' 'all programs' 'ids' 'software update'.
  14. I've been there before....pulling my hair out!
  15. Did you program as-built data into the new audio unit? the backlights tend to do some funny things when they haven't been programmed (this is necessary since these audio units fit many different models that require the backlighting to perform differently).
  16. +1, I use rags for padding between the pump and vice. I have in the past torqued a pump gear with the cab on and the pump installed, 3/8 drive snap-on torque wrench
  17. Cost +10%?! We have to pay +20% over cost! (I can go to the competing dealer up the road and get parts for cost +10 as that is what they sell them to my dealer at) IIRC napa has that pigtail for less than $20.
  18. Sounds about right. I think I got a little over 4 with diag on the 2011 I did.
  19. Had a customer who changed the right side up pipe himself by tilting the back of the cab up...never tried it myself, I also jack the front up 4" for most "cab off" repairs....
  20. check the orfice tube for metal debris, your compressor may be coming apart.
  21. Is there an oil cooler kit (base #6A642) on the repair history? I've seen a couple that guys managed to replace egr cooler and not oil cooler kit without Ford catching it and kicking it that have had repeat failures, got one at work now...another 'tech' in my store replaced the egr cooler 4000 miles ago (under warranty) without replacing the oil cooler, now the coolant is full of oil and the guy has no warranty....
  22. My wife's been dealing with this for a little over a week now - on her left side though, We know a good chiropractor, so He's been working on her neck, it's doing much better, and he even showed us a few stretches that she can do at home to help with it, one of which has me grabbing the back of her neck while she's lying on her back and pulling her head upward, it really helps! I really hope you get yours feeling better soon Keith!
  23. I did a 11-04-22 tsb today....9.1 hours plus the M-time for r&r of the rack in order to remove the cab.....took approx. 4 hours to complete....
