  1. It seems like a lot of management is that way. My previous manager was terrible at blaming on former techs or former manager then do nothing to fix concern. When my current manager started he was really surprised how run down we were on a lot of equipment and got the ok to upgrade a lot when they rebuilt the shop and added quick lane. We were able to get 18k hoists, powertrain lift, couple vcm 2 and new laptops. If a shop tools breaks he takes care of replacing it right away. If we run into a special tool we need he usually orders.
  2. Does it have the ckp and cmp Fault pids? When you lose the rpm signal do they show fault yes?
  3. Its out of time or the ckp trigger wheel has come loose on the crank. I would pull the ckp sensor out and try wiggling it with a screw driver see if it moves.
  4. Here is a copy of the diesel cam timing guide. diesel_cam_timing_2.pdf
  5. Have you done the cam timing yet with a scope?
  6. To answer your question I think the price is reasonable on that set if you want all of it. But like others have said you really dont need alot of them. I own alot of tools that i dont really need but want them.
  7. The ipr socket from lisle 68210 is a nice one that works on both styles and is reasonably priced.
  8. To get them done that fast you cant be fighting rusty bolts like we do in MN.
  9. Frp stuck on 0 psi would be from debris in rail. I would take a sample from fuel rail when you take valve cover off to do frp sensor.
  10. I think thats correct wont try firing until it gets min pressure. Did you try unplugging the frp sensor?
  11. No matter how many I pull out I can't find a good trick. I seem to struggle with all of them.
  12. After reading about partial cab lifts on here I tried and on some trucks its the way to go. Here is a picture of a truck partial cab lift no turbos on it. I pulled the turbos off put the oil feed block off in and started it up and moved it out of the bay. Then drove it back in when Turbos showed up.
  13. I got a check for the full $343 today. It took all month but I used them 3 times this month.

  15. There is a very nice one on here under the tech resources. I have used it several times myself.
  16. When they remodeled and added quicklane at work CO detectors hooked up to vent fans were installed. Its amazing how often they turn on. Its not daily not even weekly but more often then a guy would think.
  17. I sure am glad that water heater quit.
  18. I had my water heater quit this week. I had it checked out and it was junk. The scary part is the exhaust pipe coming off the water heater was rusted out (propane water heater). This means that the exhaust was all going directly into my house. We had never had our carbon monoxide alarm go off. There had been several occasions that my wife and kids had complained about headaches and not feeling good after being indoors all day. We were obviously getting to much in the house thank goodness we have a drafty old farm house. Very scary situation when you think about it. I had been in the basement next to the water heater recently to change the furnace filter. It never dawned on me to inspect the water heater exhaust. Just not something I ever thought about before. I just wanted to share. I suggest you all inspect your furnace and water heater vents. I now have an electric water heater so no exhaust needed.
  19. I ran oasis and see they already did the tsb update. 06-NOVEMBER-2014 DEALER: Roblin Ford Sales Ltd. WARRANTY CLAIM NUMBER: 010378 ODOMETER: 036606K PART NUMBER PART DESCRIPTION QUANTITY LABOR OP CONDITION CODE CONDITION DESC 14D212 MOD M/MEDIA 000 131006A 04 SOFTWARE REVISION/FLASH MODULE APIM SCREEN GOES BLANK CHECKED DTCS NONE PERFORMED VISUAL INSPECTION ALL OK PERFORMED TSB 13-10-06 AP IM SOFTWARE UPDATE OLD VERSION 1228S UPDATE TO LAT EST VERSION 13171 OK NOW.
  20. Follow the Service Procedure steps to perform software update. SERVICE PROCEDURE Run OASIS using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and verify there are no open Service Actions. All Service Actions must be completed before attempting to perform this procedure. Verify APIM Software Level Determine the vehicle's current Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) software level (CCPU S/W). On the Front Display Interface Module (FDIM), select Menu then select Help. Select System Information. Note the last five digits of the CCPU S/W Version. Are the last five digits 13171 or higher? Yes - this procedure does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 for normal diagnostics. No - proceed to the Software Download Procedure. The software update is also directly available to the customer by going to support.ford.com and support.lincoln.com web sites This is from tsb 13-10-6. It is really easy to check the software level. This software update has fixed alot of strange concerns.
  21. I would lean towards an apim also but to get paid back from ford we have to get a fail code to replace them.
  22. This 6.0 truck I was working on has a pump over passenger side valve cover. The upfitter had cut the heater hose that goes along the alt and added hose to it to put over the alt and along the pump. There is no room for a clamp at the front cover. It appears they had rotated the hose tightened the clamp the rotated the hose to place the clamp to the back under the intake. Obviously that doesn't work real well because the clamp is not tight enough and no way to tighten it. Here is the solution I came up with. I am real happy with how it turned out. I used a small universal cv boot clamp and crimped the hose on. As you can see in the second picture any placement of normal clamp touches the alt belt.
  23. I printed a receipt off amazon and gave to my manager today. I am pretty sure he is going to pay me back all of it. I make them enough $ they can buy the tools to make it easier for me. I just got sick of the maybe next month we well order that. So I ordered myself.
  24. I ordered them from amazon $343.00 shipped to the dealership. When my manager heard from parts they brought me out a big box of a tool that I had ordered. He decided to come over and take a look. He the says that sure looks handy. I said yeah sure wish the tech didnt have to buy the shop tools. I then said any chance I can get the shop to pay for half. Lets see what happens.
