  2. Quote: (pisses me off to no end when a service writer parades into the shop in sandals) Wait a second.... Jim of the great north has people wearing sandles(not muck-lucks)(might be spelled muk-luks) in the shop whats wrong with this picture???? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

Bravo to your boss for doing the right thing!!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif
  5. Kelly I would say to save yourself anymore ass that your losing now and pick up the cab, however you have to. May suck but work smart not hard!!!!
  6. Did you get new bolts too??? I don't know why you needed to replace it but figured it would cover your ass to get them.
  7. Sorry for the Canudiens, but when I was at Motor City and we were Blue oval certified, we never seen any of the perks, between the managers and the owners we were told that we didn't get anything. Only come to find out that the Dealer did recieve quite a bit of goodies and trips thru the Reps. Then the Freightliner Reps started coming thru for their certifications for both the parts and service side, me myself had 2 more tests to take and found out that my boss would get a trip to Hawaii for my cert., guess what I did, I forgot to do them and he lost out, Bummer for him..... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
  8. I'll double check it for you on Monday. It's Monday.... You want the 3C3Z6312CA and probably new bolts also W300024
  9. Cetane, very cool articles As a matter of fact I have even had a few CVCC Civics over the years, best damn cars I ever owned. 1982 Civic wagon sold to my brother with 245,000 miles on it still running he drove it for a year and wrecked it with 273,000 miles. The other 2 were 1983 Civic hatchbacks owned at the same time all 5 speeds, talk about the ultimate go-karts. A lot of fun. Sold them when I got married and had kids, to small for a family. Bummer
  10. I think we have all shown, that in fact we do go over and above what is the "NORM". Me myself could be the parts guy that stands at the counter with the "Deer in the headlights look" as most of you have seen but I like to get out in the shop and get dirty and see what you do, it helps me to help you and move trucks thru the shop quicker. I don't look for any accolades for it I just do it because its the right thing to do. I believe that we are all the same here in that case. As for Techs fighting for the .1 or .2 that gets cut... At Motor City the techs had a hard way to go, the S/M who by chance was also the owners son had a bad habit of doing exactly that. But yet the they really pushed for production and keeping labor(labour) hrs up. Hell I even had the S/M bitch at me for putting some wipers on a customers truck and not getting paid to do it.(WTF) Thats just Bullshit, Its just these small things that brings the customer back in to our shops. Why not do it???? Quote: Originally Posted By: Jim WarmanPeople thrive on recognition.... and verbal acceptance is a powerful tool.... Since I took over the job as well as my own, of keeping tabs on them during the runs. Pretty friggin cool, a little word like "Thanks" goes a long way....
  11. Something still doesn't sit right, You changed out the injectors for running bad when cold. When you did, did you check the cac and hoses and connections all around, retorque clamps check for oil or fuel in the clean air side? Also did you happen to check the injector harness for problems, we had quite a few with intermittent problems, and by the way are a real bitch to get the right one. You say intermittent miss, I would look closer at the connections on all of the fuel system components, oil intrusion, cracking, etc.... Could you have possibly twisted or cut a injector oring when you replaced them? Shit, give me the good ole' days of Jims era of spraying some carb clean on vacumm hoses to find a leak....
  12. In my shop all of the guys are using the gloves, some of the chemicals we use and the Calibration fluids cause some serious drying out of the skin, hurts when it starts cracking. But on the other hand the guys putting fuel system components together use both gloves and masks, You would think its a friggin ER how careful and clean they are. But makes a difference on the other end when you guys get the pumps and injectors from us. You know that they are done right.
  13. Quote: we have only had 1 bad oil cooler in 6 months and our last head gasket repair was at least 7 or 8 months ago Keith, you just jinxed yourself with that statement, here they come. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
  14. Mike, good point. I don't recall a failure on the F650-F750's with the coolant filters on them.
  15. Keith, correct me if I'm wrong, I probably am. Aren't the Driveshafts indexed now???? I thought when we had a trainer from Ford in that he stated that the shafts had to be installed with the correct index or there would be vibration problems.
  16. Come on Alex!!!! Don't hold back share with all of the guys here, just don't share with Mother. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  17. A reminder call is in line here Keith...Keep on them with this one, I,m sure that there are plenty of dealers with the same problem.
  18. Quote: Does the rear pinion nut on a F-550 rear end need to be torqued to 600ft/lb YES!!!! Other than a 1" impact what do you have that will do 600ft/lbs. The Cummins ISX head bolts are 600ft/lbs and the manual states to use the 1" impact on them for correct torque. I haven't seen a torque stick that high YET....
  19. I would say order your own, If your going to be around a while you'll need it. But If you can get him to spend the companies money to get it, have at it. Either way it's a win-win.
  20. Keith, sounds like a cooling system problem, more than oil. Maybe a coolant filtration system is the answer for this problem. Big trucks have used them forever, why not the smaller ones???? We need to test the coolant why not filter it??? Might save the customers in the long run from having to pay big money to do this job. If need be, I could put together a low-cost coolant filter set up to be installed as a package.
  21. Did you hear the stutter when he was spooling up? We are working that out right now, the turbos are inline but the secondary turbo is wastegated and lets off before WOT and then catches up. We are working on a non wastegated one, looking to make about 85-90 lbs of boost when its done, with a manual gate that Chris can work from in the cab, basically a adjustable boost setup as he sees fit. If we get it done the right way the truck should be pushing about 875-900 hp and should run somewhere in the 9.80's-9.90's in the quarter. Pretty awesome for a truck like this.
  22. Okay guys check this one out, this is a customer of ours that has a Dodge 5.9 ISB twin turbo, not the regular turbos everybody has seen, My boss Turbo Craig, has been working with him on hybrid turbos for about a year now. I don't have all of the specs as to what he has done to the truck, but I'll get them and share. This is basically a stock Dodge other than the engine and trans, He is racing a GT Mustang and spanks the shit out of him. Chris(Hazardchris) on Youtube races this guy at about 2:00 in the AM. Turn your volume up and listen to the turbos spooling up. This truck ran a best of 10.22 in the quarter mind you this truck weighs over 7K pounds and is 4WD. Watch the center of the truck you can see the exhaust from the 7" stack coming up thru the center of the bed. This rocks, Diesels are awesome /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
