we had Freeport (circletrack), Islip(circletrack) , Bridgehampton(road track),National Speedway(dragstrip), and Westhampton(Dragstrip) all closed in my lifetime. we have one dump of a 1/4 mile circle track that will be gone as soon as someone will offer the right money for the land.... At one time LI N.Y. had 40 racetracks all but one of those noisy racetracks are gone in there place are much needed luxury houses and golf courses thank god. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whattodo.gif

Oil cooler clean-up
eastendpowerstroke replied to Mekanik's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I use dawn or joy dish soap same stuff they use to clean otters and seagulls when Captn.Hazelwood runs aground LOL. lather rinse repeat. -
one of my local towns has a f-450 ambulance it's a pleasure to work on. If the ride quality is the sticking point why not use an aftermarket air ride for the rear suspension, problem solved. If you ever looked a a meat wagon, most of them have air bag boosters because there overloaded from the start. the cost of the setup below is $4k a small amount when an ambulance cost is $90-$150k 4 link air ride

wireless VCM
eastendpowerstroke replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
I didn't think it was that bad the hardware is pretty simple. the settings are kinda involved but if you ever setup a wireless network with security its pretty simple to. -
I'd rather have the eye ad back than think of a 6.0L ecnobox or the 6.4L stuffed in there.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif

I got the plans to create a setup to make the IDS VCM wireless from a tech in Fla He is offered the plans for free to anybody that wants them but requests that if you use them to make a setup like his you make a $15 donation to the juvenile diabetes fund. I'll happily pass them on over here but I feel that his request for a donation is more than fair and a good cause. Keith if you want I'll e-mail them to you and you can post them here. the parts required will cost you about $80 and some time. I plan on setting one up not having to deal with that stupid 20 ft IDS cable sounds great to me.

broken rocker arm
eastendpowerstroke replied to Alex Bruene's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
amazingly enough I've only had one 6.0L with a rocker arm issue. it was a brand new 03 550 with 3 miles on it came off the truck missing I found one exhaust rocker bridge off It looked to be just fine so I popped it back on and never had a problem with it.. go figure? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif -
every time I think of the 6.4L being stuffed into something resembling an Ecnoline I throwup a little in my mouth... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

It's been pretty slow for the last few weeks at the shop on the good side it's given us a chance to catch up on shop stuff like putting the 07 service manuals on the shelves, up dating software, waxing my tool box, sent the tough-book out to get the usb port that nobody knows how it got broken fixed, ect. So as is usually the case as soon as I told my buddy that I'll take in his truck that needs either an EGR cooler or head gasket(don't know yet) because I have put him off for over a month till I knew that I would have the time to devote to it and it wouldn't go to the other diesel "tech" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif in the shop ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.... got a 7.3 with a cracked oil pickup, a 19 ft motor home towed from a dealer thats closing with a blown up V10 rods stuck through the pan, two towed no start cars, one towed wont move windstar, and the list goes on . I'm glad my buddy has other trucks ... OH the other thing is as I walked past the shop truck yesterday I thought to my self that I should get the porter/shop helper to take the plow off, chance's are we are not gonna get any more snow this year it's March 14th.............now what the weather forecast like for tomorrow /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif "Snow...sleet and freezing rain. Snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. Brisk with highs in the mid 30s. Northeast winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent."

BG diesel inj. flush
eastendpowerstroke replied to mtuttle43's topic in Fuels - Oils - Additives - Chemicals
believe me if it wasn't snake oil/ wallet flush the useless talking head ford rep that stops in every so often to see if you want to buy more tires or tell you that your not filling out enough 99 point inspection sheets would be trying to sell it to you, or there would be a "BIG FLUSH" spin to win on FMCDEALER. The best thing BG has is the yellow trans funnel that the guy handed out when the former parts and svc director got them in the shop. I got rid of him but I haven't been able to get rid of BG, yet I like the trans flush machine for stuff without a torque converter drain but I don't use the additive with it. As the shop Forman I'm in a position to stick to my morals and not use the products. I made my feelings on the subject VERY clear to my boss and he's ok that I'm not using it we got a few flush queens to make up for my lack on participation. -
BG diesel inj. flush
eastendpowerstroke replied to mtuttle43's topic in Fuels - Oils - Additives - Chemicals
three things go wrong with the heui injectors used in a psd and a can of flush solvent isn't going to fix a heui inj that scuffed from water/poor guality fuel or lack of filter maintance, nor will fuel system cleaner ever come in contact with any part of a stuck spool valve, and it can't fix the electric solenoid. Now fuel additaves that can and do improve cetane, fuel lubricty,or the pour point (anti gel) are worthwile to use periodicaly. Don't get me wrong I'm all for the shop and myself making money but I feel that the flush's aren't providing my customers with anything for the money I'd much rather provide a real service to earn it. -

As stated before you take one end of the hose and connect it to the customers wallet and flush away /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif -
Driving Impressions
eastendpowerstroke replied to snw blue by you's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Glad to hear I'm not the only person to feel unimpressed with the performance of the 6.4L. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif I liked that it's so guiet and runs very smooth but it needs more grunt to keep up with my 6.0L. -
yes it comes separate your parts guy will never find it trying to look it up as part of the fan shroud it's listed with climate control parts I went through hell trying to find it the first time I didn't lean on it and broke it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif I'll get the part Number tomorrow if you still need it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
