Hallelujah! I've been given the solution!
mchan68 replied to Alex Bruene's topic in The Water Cooler
....... and situations where you are granted PRIOR APPROVAL from Ford and INSTRUCTED by Ford to move forward with a particular high dollar repair, only to have the claim kicked back after the repair is put through, like what just happened to me yesterday, certainly doesn't help matters either. I too, am on the verge of telling my SM to stick all these warranty diesel repairs coming in, up their asses, pending the outcome of the aforementioned case in question. -
..... or even upsell a DPF Delete kit.

Hallelujah! I've been given the solution!
mchan68 replied to Alex Bruene's topic in The Water Cooler
I guess that explains why I've been sought out for job offers from other places. Funny thing is, I wasn't even looking. -
My truck is COMPLETELY unmolested from new..... save for a set of updated dummy rail plugs that went in immediately after I noticed a little bit of extended engine cranking on our parking lot after boosting another vehicle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pn4Q-s3Sas Is that the intake manifold that gets blown off, or the intake AND cylinder head?
-
I'd be interested to know the outcome to this. I have one here doing almost the exact same thing. This is an '08 that I just replaced with a drop-in Ford Quality Repaint assembly 5,000 kms. ago. It did have a P2291 flagged in continuous memory though. The customer has requested me to drive the vehicle home and back for a while, to try and duplicate the engine quitting on home.

Head gaskets causing injector failures?
mchan68 replied to lmorris's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
The last one I had, cylinder #8 connecting rod was 's' shaped, likely due to the obvious horizontal cooler failure that one had also suffered. It sure put a nice deep gouge on the cylinder wall as well. -
And my long weekend gets ruined with what I get to face when I go back on Tuesday. A '13 F-550 that just got delivered with all of 82 kms. and a "Check Engine" light along with the exhaust system fault in the cluster that won't go away. Apparently this just started after the work was done by the aftermarket body builder installing the dump box in the back. It sets a hard P0100 and P208C, along with a grocery list of U codes and random powertrain and SCR system codes. I already checked all wiring per the pinpoint tests, and came back good. THIS ought to be pretty when the week begins.

'10 Lincoln MKT with a dynamited cyliinder #4 piston (Ecobusted???) smoking worse than a 6.0L or 6.4L with a busted EGR cooler. '11 Fiesta loss of oil pressure causing bottom end damage. '04 E-450 no-start from an outside shop that has had a FICM, ICP sensor, IPR valve and God knows what else thrown at it in an unsuccessful attempt to repair, so what's next?
-
One of my 6.4s I did recently came in just like that too. Bent the pushtube, and the valve bridge fell out. Yours was like that too?
-
I've been seeing LOTS of them lately. And I've seen them warped either way.
-
Is it just me, or does it seem like the steering wheels on '08 and newer Super Duty trucks like to warp, so much so that I actually think it looks kind of funny? Is there any repair for this, or is it simply either replace or put up with it kind of deal? I've noticed some newer F-150 steering wheels like this too.
-
That kind of describes the discomfort I feel, after I've done battle in the engine compartment of a 6.0L that some other hack has been into and tore the firewall insulation.

I have one here that keeps popping F2.18 (20A) intermittently. Checked CKT 10 (LG/RD) for a short to ground as well as high resistance. No issues that I can pinpoint thus far. I see that F2.18 (20A) supplies power to the Brake Pedal Position Switch or BSI and the indicator flasher. According to the customer, he will drive it for less than 10 minutes, make a left or right turn and the turn signals (along the with hazards) stop working. I have driven it much longer than that making several turns unable to get the fuse to pop. Hotline is of no help on this one. This vehicle has no aftermarket gizmos wired into it. I have now disconnected the BSI solenoid while replacing the fuse AGAIN, to get the customer to drive it like that. Anyone come across this before?

mchan68 replied to vloney's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I don't rush any kind of big job either. What I DO have a problem with however, is being told to repair a vehicle and in the same sentence being told I'm not going to get paid for it (in fancy words of course). Those are the kinds of situations where I let the vehicle sit outside to grow plants under it, so to speak. -

Refuse to do the job, unless your service manager is willing to pay you internally over and above what the TSB pays. -
I look at that beautiful red V8 engine, and can't help but think WHY WHY WHY can't that engine be going into our F-150 trucks? Better yet, I think that engine would do very well in our E-Series vans, instead of that Transit "full size" thing that I think is going to turn out to be a flop. Ford's past track record with vehicles brought from overseas has not been good at all. Better yet, that engine would rock, if it could go into a Crown Victoria. Okay, now I'm getting crazy ..........

Wonder how long Ford will rethink the idea of having a diesel F-150. It appears the Ram 1500 will be offering a 3.0L V6 diesel as well: http://www.autoblog.com/2013/08/20/nissan-titan-turbo-diesel-v8-cummins/

6.7L High Pressure Fuel System "Kit" Now Available

I second the idea of putting together such a "kit" for a 6.4L. -
6.7L High Pressure Fuel System "Kit" Now Available
mchan68 replied to mchan68's topic in FSA - TSB - SSM
Well, why release the SSM if the part number is not valid? E is a 2014 model year code. -
If you ohm out a new IPR out of box, I believe it ohms out to 6.0 ohms almost exactly.

Notice it uses the same base part number as the 6.0L STC fitting kit...... another useless piece of information. -

Just for shits and giggles, I went to price one of those kits out, and it doesn't come back as a valid part number. I wanted to see the price 'cause I needed a good laugh.
