  1. Ontario too. I have a whole pile sitting in my garage, waiting to find a home.
  2. Perhaps, this core charge only applies to those of you in the good old U.S. of A. Just curious, is there anything that is physically different about these new coolers, other than the suffix of the part number?
  3. If I'm not mistaken, there was some discussion to the effect, that if pressurizing the high pressure oil system revealed air leakage into the oil cooler housing, the high pressure pump was to be condemned.
  4. This thread is the exact reason why I refuse to install a half shell, or even think about attempting a resolder "repair".
  5. Okay WTF?!!!! I can't see how parts would've fucked that up. Don't they look up the parts by VIN in Microcat (which would've identified the exact vehicle)? If that were me, and I saw the 3C3Z prefix (which IS the prefix for a 6.0L head unless it's the later style 6C3Z )on the box, I wouldn't even have bothered to go and get it in the first place.
  6. Thanks for the info. If Cold Line can't distinguish between a 6.0L and 6.4L and it's associated difference in operating characteristics, WTF else are they good to assist us with? And the million dollar question becomes, what would've happened had you gone ahead and replaced the oil cooler and the truck wasn't fixed? Who would be eating that one?
  7. That would be SWAMPS. I remember having one particular truck that would peak out at 50 volts even. Since this particular truck didn't have any driveability issues, I chose not to pursue it any further.
  8. Actually, what caught my immediate attention was the dipstick on the engine. And they say guys like me can be blinded with dental floss .
  9. That engine crane doesn't look like it is well suited to lift a 6.0L diesel engine (which is what it looks like in your photo). BTW, is it just me, or does it look like you posted your photo backwards?
  10. Well, I might as well update mine as well. After the reflash, replace NOx sensor and manual regen, reset the same tables as Leon's. P164a returned upon road test home, but no CEL. Replace NOx module, regen and reset tables again. This thing is FIXED!!!! BTW, anyone of you ever had a "dead pedal" like mine that didn't set codes? If you do, post up the APP % and volt readings.
  11. And you won't be doing any other repair to this one, other than a long block. THAT I can guarantee you with a %100 certainty, because any 4.0L SOHC engines that valve timing goes out of time, WILL bend valves without fail, BIG TIME. Yes, I agree that Edge/MKX Water pump/phaser jobs are gravy, even for warranty time.
  12. I'm bored and I could use a good laugh these days. Well guys, this should give you a good one. Back in the day when I used to work at a Ford truck dealer, the sales department ordered up a fleet of about two hundred E-450s with a 5.4L for Purolator Courier. However, someone forgot to tick off the box WITHOUT A/C. Soooooo, in arrived a fleet of E-450s equipped with A/C that had to PDI, AND remove all A/C components (except the evaporator), and install the non-A/C spec drive belts, tensioners and control heads. By the time all was said and done, there was a surplus of two hundred new A/C condensors, compressors, lines, control heads, belts and tensioners sitting in the back of the parts department. Fair enough, at least the end result was that the customer ended up with the vehicles they wanted/needed, albeit at a bit of a loss to the sales department now having to pay us techs the labour to remove all A/C components that was over and above that of the PDI itself. Fast forward to 2011. Our dealer has a contract with our local parking control authority. An order was placed for about a hundred 2012 White Ford Focuses. In arrived twenty of them yesterday, equipped with MANUAL transmissions. That said, if you know anyone who is looking for a stickshift Focus, send them my way. Oh and they come in any colour you want, as long as it's white.
  13. I have everything the same that has happened to the one I'm working on, except the part about the P207f. I've now been instructed to replace the NOx module by my FSE.
  14. I'll take working at Brad's shop ANYTIME. I prefer working in a shop that is well lit as opposed to a dungeon. I just need to find a U.S. woman that will marry me, to make it legal for me to live and work in the U.S.
  15. Done already on one truck I have in my possession, and P164A returns.
  16. On 2005 and newer trucks that haven't had the STC fitting replaced, I'll remove the HPOP FIRST (just by the way the engine is angled rearward, most of the oil in the reservoir under the cooler will drain out through the HPOP inlet and into the crankcase upon HPOP removal), and charge the additional labour to replace the STC fitting with the update part. Once this is done, the oil cooler can be removed without making a huge mess of oil spilling out. Do yourself a favour and clean the channel under the screen REAL WELL (I like to blow it out with compressed air), before re-installing the oil cooler and HPOP. By doing this, you will greatly reduce the likelihood of buggering up the IPR valve during initial engine startup at the conclusion of the repair.
  17. I have to beg to differ on that one. Customers aren't THAT stupid. And that's the part that most of them see, is trying to make US/THE SHOP more money. I just had a 6.4L that was in for a LPOP gasket replacement, that left my doostep needing a new rad, but the customer declined to repair.
  18. Which is all fine and dandy. But what do you do, when you get THOSE kind of customers that have THEIR mechanic, and only show up on our doorstep for stuff they don't have to pay for?
  19. Okay, after reading through this long TSB, the way I read it, is if I get a 6.4L in for whatever concern, and the only DTC I get is P0088 I am to just simply jump the gun and slam dunk a high pressure fuel pump at this thing, correct? Since cab removal also mandates the draining of fluids, I guess we won't be able to charge that out on the work as well.
  20. Stories like this are the epitome of exactly why I show no mercy in the quoting of labour for any job on a E-Series 6.0L (which is usually about double what the same job would be on an F-Series). You really think the owner's of these piles of turds on wheels are going to give a rat's ass about your injury or mine sustained in the process of putting them back on the road? You should see what both my arms look like after a battle with an E-series for both coolers with that stupid BS aftermarket refridgeration compressor plumbed in.
  21. So what was your reply to that comment? I probably wouldn't have been too polite in my response. I hear these kind of comments more than I care to hear in my neck of the woods. It's funny how their tune changes when THEY get stumped with a problem vehicle.
