  1. Bad fuel or gas in fuel can cause it to fail the aeration test.
  2. I checked the harness at the valve cover and everything looked good. I decided to go after the low boost code and found the MAP sensor was 2 pounds lower than BARO so I put a new sensor in and it still read 2 pounds low. After testing the wiring I put in my spare PCM and the sensor started reading correctly and the surge was gone. I sent the PCM in to Reman Auto Electronics and they rebuilt it and it works great.
  3. The bolts go into the exhaust manifold not the head.
  4. I have a 2002 7.3 with 71,000 miles on it that randomly makes the truck jerk under accel usually above 50 mph. It feels worse while pulling a trailer. I made recordings of it and the rpm will first drop 170 and then jumps up 370 and the ICP voltage drops .5 volts and jumps up 1 volt. It does it very quickly and then comes back down to normal. I have to enlarge the recording to get a good look at it because it's so quick. I repaced the ICP sensor, it still had the original style sensor, and he said it helped alot but it still does it. So next I replaced the ICP connector and it made no difference. I put in a test IPR with no help. It sets codes P1211 and P1247-turbo boost low. I don't know if it's a VREF problem, cam sensor, or high pressure oil system problem. Any suggestions?
  5. Has anyone heard about or seen the changes on the 2015 6.7's? I had a 2015 F-350 truck (not a cab-chassis) come in today for a check engine light on and had a P0234- turbo overboost code. I ran PPT KA and there was no mention of a wastegate like in previous years and I looked at the turbo and it's a cab-chassis turbo. The other strange thing is that it has a PID for the wastegate. The EBP sensor tube is longer moving the sensor beside the upper intake instead of behind it which is nice. Also the ECT2 sensor is not in the EGR cooler there is just a brass plug in the hole where it was, I don't know where it is now. I don't know why they would get rid of the other turbo that we have no problems with and go with the one that the bearing wear out.
  6. I have the same computer you do Keith and when I downloaded 92 it is taking longer for my VCM II to connect. Before it would connect before the IDS screen would load. Now it takes a couple minutes to link up.
  7. I've had 2 remans and one another shop did a HPP that had the the convolute swell up which made it shorter and exsposed the wires and rubbed through on the pump housing. Now I zip tie the convolute on each end to keep it in place.
  8. I had one that would boost to 40 psi while parked and accelerating and it was the EBP sensor.

In a post I started http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/topic/5217-spw-73-idm/ Ford recomended to buy an IDM from http://remanautoelectronics.com as a SPW replacement. If Ford authorized them for a warranty replacement they must be a good company.
  10. Keith I just bought an Inspiron 15 7000 and have been using it for a week now and I really love it. I've been using Windows 8 at home for over a year now so there was no learning curve there except 8.1 is a little different. I need to update my home computer to 8.1 now. The lighted key board is nice in vehicles with dark interiors. Thanks for being the guinea pig.
  11. I've had two trucks do the same thing. One had too many idle hours and the other one didn't. The one with too many hours I enabled the manual regen for the customer and haven't had any problems since. The other one is a friend of mine and he's a cattle rancher and he hauls cattle with it on the highway all the time so I don't know why his did it but he hasn't had any more problems since we replaced the exhaust system.
  12. You might check the radio antenna, if they have an external one, to see if lightning hit it.
  13. Did the other dealer replace the exhaust system since the DPF was probably contaminated from the burned up piston? Maybe it's plugged up now.
  14. Don't forget we use it down here to make meth.
  15. The one I had was very intermittent that's why it took two years to "fix" it even though I really never found excatly what it was. When it came in for a no crank I would jump the starter wire under the hood to start it and drive it in the shop and then it would work fine for months. When it would act up again and they towed it in by the time I got to it the problem went away. Ford had me put an internal trans harness in then a few months later back in it came. This time we replaced the harness from the PCM to the trans and guess what, back in again in a few months. This time we put the body harness to the PCM in it (this where your PCM connectors that I sent you came from Bruce). A few months later it came back again and this time it was temperature sensitive, when I brought it in the shop and when the trans temp got to 48 degrees it would work, set outside overnight and it wouldn't crank until the trans temp went up. Ford sends out our FSE and for two days out in the cold we try everything. He starts wiggling the engine harness and the voltage comes and goes even though according to the schematics the engine harness has nothing to do with that ciruit. We narrowed it down to the engine harness around the IAT2 sensor and fuel filter housing area but we didn't see anything and then all the sudden the problem went away. This truck still comes to our shop and the problem has never came back and that was a few years ago.
  16. Any codes? Do the reverse lights work? I had a 2005 F-250 do the same thing and it had TR sensor codes and no reverse lights when acting up. If this sounds like the same problem get in touch with me and we can talk because this was a long drawn out ordeal that took a couple years to fix.
  17. I used to have that problem on all diesels so now I screw it all the way in and then back it out a 1/4 turn before checking compression.. I wonder if the high compression in diesels heats up the tool and makes it expand causing it to get stuck.
  18. Here's a fuel cap from our local Indian reservation. It was on a 6.4L flat bed with a round bail lift on it that they use to tend to their buffalo heard. In case you city folk don't know what this is it's a nipple from a bottle used to feed calves milk. At least they put something in there instead of leaving it open. I've had to replace complete fuel systems on all of their trucks at least once.
  19. I had one doing the same thing. The light wouldn't come on right away and when running the dosing test it wouldn't build pressure with the new pump. The hotline told me to replace the sender and that fixed it.
  20. Aaron, does the gauge on you're truck go down when you hear/feel it opening and closing? If not maybe the throttle body is hanging up on this truck.
  21. I did check both turbos for end play and they were tight. When I talked to the hotline he recomended " If the noise is isolated to the turbocharger(s) then it is recommended that the compressor wheels be side loaded and rotated to check for any rotational sticking or binding. This can be done by careully grasping the compressor wheel and pushing it into the housing in different directions and the wheel rotated. If there is any rotational sticking/binding when performing this inspection then it is recommended to replace that turbocharger." He also said that maybe during regen that the exhaust makes the turbos hotter and maybe the bearings are causing a problem at that time.
  22. I have a 2008 F-250 6.4 with 88,000 miles on it. Here's what I wrote into the hotline: No codes and couldn't duplicate problem. I checked the bearings on both turbos because he thought the turbos were going out. The truck had a very old calibration so I reprogramed the modules and let the customer have the truck. He brought in a video today on his phone of the gauges when it acted up today and the boost gauge jerks around as it goes down to 0 psi and then it goes back up smoothly to around 15 psi and it keeps going up and down while in regen but he has the cruise on and the rpm and speed don't drop at all. When the boost is going down the truck makes a grinding noise he said sounds like dragging a rake in the gravel and the truck surges a little but it doesn't loose power and the sound gets louder the longer it's in regen. When the boost is on the way up the noise goes away. The owner says when the "drive to regen" comes on he gets on the highway and drives it until it's done. He has the cruise set between 70 and 80 mph and it doesn't loose any speed. The hotine has never heard of it and they said they will be watching for my reply because they want to know what's going on. I can't believe the boost is actually going to 0 psi or it would loose power. I was talking to another customer yesterday about his 6.4 and he has a DPF delete on it and he said his truck did the same thing until he deleted the DPF and hasn't done it since. The shop foreman has been driving the truck for the past week trying to get it to go into regen so we can make some recordings and see what's going on. Has anyone ever heard of this?
  23. Are you sure there isn't any gas in the fuel? When I have one that tries to start and smokes most of the time the fuel gauge reads full because they just topped it off with gas.
  24. I found the web site that sells them. http://beydlercnc.com/
