  1. I have done a couple where the cooler is pissing coolant out into the exhaust, but the valve and intake have been dry. Fill the cooling system, jack the ass end of the truck WAY up in the air, pull the EGR valve out, and pressurize the cooling system. Look down in there and see if there's water pooling in the intake. Perhaps it's leaking at the back of the cooler, which is causing it to just run into the exhaust as opposed to the intake. You could also try separating the exhaust at the manifold on the RH side, not much, just enough to allow liquid out, and try and determine which way it's flowing. I know that's not the most practical of ideas, but I'm also in the camp of you've got a blown cooler. Also the oil cooler (or heat exchanger) and the screen underneath (6a642 and 6c683) should always be replaced during the course of this repair.
  2. I'd have told them to go buy a fuckin' labour guide. But I'm in that sort of mood this week.
  3. local dealer do that mike? I'd have driven over there, and MADE their tech eat the busted STC fitting.
  4. ^^^ What he said. You'd be marrying a time bomb if you did it the way the customer wants to. Not to mention I'd betcha it'll be ignint to get that lower rear driver's head stud in place
  5. I hope for your sake, this isn't the voice of experience talking!
  6. If you read the WSM you're supposed to remove the fan shroud and all that shit to get the belt off. You can get paid pretty good doin them alternators under warranty, or retail. I prefer the vans, cause you can strong arm the motherfucker off the cowl with your forearm to pull the belt back up when you put the back bolt in.
  7. Lucky fuckin' you Mike! What's the concern? FWIW - Ondemand5 says 12 and change hours. Seems kinda light.
  8. You can't keep injectors in a duramax long enough to blow it up
  9. FWIW - the number from the SSM is superseded about 30587364 times in our parts listing, and it ends at RT1212, and that number doesn't show stock anywhere.
  10. I think that is the failed unit, Larry - I think he said it got noticed on a PDI - so I can't see it being a great deal of greasy.
  11. Probably because you'll need to take the cab off to service the harness LOL
  12. Yeah, and the updated RT1212 thermostat number isn't even available yet.
  13. Yup, I remember. And THAT is the path to be on.
  14. Is it smoking or anything, or pumping it out of the bottle? Wash all the stains off the bottle and take it for a road burn and see if it farts coolant out. I just chased a 6.0 like this. Tee up a gauge in the cooling system yet to see what the actual pressure is?
  15. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?' The girl said, 'NO!' And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf a lot and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted. The End
  16. If I was a bettin' man, I'd bet the PMR has a split (read: uneven parting line) cap instead of a smooth machined cap. At least that's how things go on the GM smallblock.
  17. High Pressure Common Rail Injection System Improves cold weather drivability because injection timing is independent of oil viscosity Eliminates injector damage due to clogged fuel filters/fuel starvation Piezoelectric injector actuation allows for multiple injections, improves combustion and reduces noise I laughed.
  18. Clean up guy at my shop just found $8 beside a seat yesterday. Bought me a soda.
  19. And my buddy didn't even chew on your seats or anything when we left him in there, that's gotta be good for somethin.
  20. I hate the fuckin' things, myself. "Yo brah, this is a ten second ride, yo!" So....why's it my TRUE, LEGIT high ten second/low eleven second ride have time to get my timeslip, and be heading back up the return road while your shitbox is still working it's way past the stripe - you need to time them' fuggin things with a calendar
