Ahem. "1". No charge. Your pal, Captain Obvious
  2. You best be working ALL THE LIVE LONG DAY, too. Congrats man! I've always wanted to work on trains.
  3. Fellow once taught me where to drill a small 1/8" hole in the back side of the column that you could put a pick through, and push that offending part back into the lock cylinder and twist the key. Takes longer to key-up the new cylinder than it does to get the old one out. Awesome.
  4. I did one as a barn job and I don't even work at the dealer anymore. I will upload some pics tomorrow if I remember. I'm sure it's nothing you guys haven't seen before though. 5000km after the truck got a replacement longblock, the turbo went for a dump and it was out of warranty.
  5. Aug 02 2013 6419 -2011-2014 F-Super Duty - 6.7L Diesel - Turbo Performance Characteristic Differences Between F250/F350 and F450/F550 Vehicles Some customers with multiple 2011-2014 F-Super Duty vehicles may report the 6.7L diesel equipped F450/F550 chassis cabs may exhibit a characteristic turbo lag when accelerating from a stop compared to a 6.7L diesel equipped F250/F350 pickup truck. This is primarily due to the design differences of the turbocharger and air intake systems. Chassis cab vehicles use standard Variable geometry turbocharger while pickup trucks use a duel boost turbocharger and have different HP and torque curves. Refer to the F-Series Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel "Coffee Table Book" located on the PTS website under the service tips tab for additional engine specific information.
  6. I've seen a few. Why is it never the rear one on the early style pedestals that is missing?
  7. Little trick I learned when I was an apprentice. We had a V8 S-10 that the other guy I worked with had bought and it wouldn't start, no compression. Got 'er whirling over and put about 3-4 oz. of automatic trans down the carb while holding the throttle wide open. Boom. Fired right up. Smoked like hell, but once it cleared out it ran mint.
  8. Do you have a test IDM? I'd be willing to loan you mine if you pay the shipping, and send it back after. to test it before you sell an IDM. I'm in Ontario, Canada.
  9. When I did mine, I did it when the rad went for a poop. I drained the rad and block, then removed the stats, and filled the cooling system with water. Ran it until it got to about 175 degrees, then dropped the rad and block drains again. Ran it again, dropped it again, then flushed water through from the degas bottle (via garden hose) out each block drain for a few minutes. Replaced rad, and filled with pre-mix ELC (red) antifreeze that ITEC specs for the Maxxforce 7.
  10. I worked on a F550 a couple summers ago, had a crane, service body, etc. etc. Manual trans, had it in 2nd or 3rd going up a slight hill, pedal right on the boards, would barely pull itself. Getting back to the shop, she didn't really wanna stop. Was there for a commercial vehicle inspection, and my boss told me I needed to reline all the brakes, front and back, because they were glazed and that's why it wouldn't stop. No, I think it won't stop because it's probably 10,000lbs over the GVWR.... LOL New pads, rotors front and back...and there it is. Still stopping....eventually.... NO better than before. That was a spooky ride. They parked it not long after that. Today I finished up a 2014 Super Snake. 1000hp car, finished up the brakes and the other guy I work with finished up the supercharger install. It's an EXACT copy of another car we built, the guy got another one for his wife. Then started on an engine/trans assembly for a Cobra kit car, the roller should be at the shop by the time I write this, for the engine and trans tomorrow. Aluminum body on this one.
  11. Only word of warning, if you have a dog don't take your eyes off your sandwich, even for a second.
  12. Which makes it harder to turn tpms off with IDS but I got it figured anyhow. Lol Like the air filter.
  13. Probably because a housing wasn't charged out also lol.
  14. Depends on how many I have had!
  15. I had them call back a BATTERY once. Sent it back freight collect, hazardous materials. The shipping bill was almost $600. They mad.
  16. Let me know when you're in Burlington. I work in Woodstock, beers on me.
  17. And mike - even though I'm taller than you, you still got the edge on me when you jumped down from the entry way to the driveway at your old place and didn't land on your face like I would have lol!
  18. Please reference the first line in my signature regarding the above mentioned solution. I'm going to make one up at work tomorrow just to see if it seals. I'm going to try and do it with only tools that are common to most mechanics. (We have a full machine shop on site, so I'm sure I could whip something together either way, but I'd like to make an easy solution.)
  19. I have a Mac tap set. Drill bits too. As an aside - they (Mac) warranty their taps, dies, drillbits, and EZ-outs for life. What a guy could do, is take a piece of round bar, drill it and tap it M12. Then weld it onto a small round plate with a 3/16" hole drilled in it, countersunk to about 3/8" or so... making the slight taper and hole you need to seal up the fitting. Weld the whole works onto the DPF after drilling the proper size hole.
  20. Some vehicles you can reset it, others you can't. I seem to remember seeing an "HOURS: RESET" pid. I imagine if you force ASBUILT and do a PMI on the IC (forcing it to ignore inhale data), it clears it, because it seems to pull that data over when you exhale data from the old IC if you're swapping one.
