  1. I have seen one test port plug come loose on top of the pump, and do just what you are describing.
  2. Or when they do they aren't buildable....
  3. Run the inverse fuel injector test but leave them connected to verify no spray? Any metal in the hp rails? Possibly the pump coming unzipped and spraying out metal? Just a thought but is the egr throttle body closed for some reason? Does it fire on an alternate fuel source? 250 is low, but it was rolling down the road when it died....
  4. Sales guy was showing me the appearance guide and price sheets on them. holy fak are they expensive compared to a '14. A basic xlt truck is $4000 more than previous year, the high end lariats are about $10,000 more than previous, and a king ranch is 78k. Also there is no more dedicated fx4 lineup. The fx4 is now an add on package like the superduty.
  5. Looking for a parts guy now too... He's done at the end of next week.
  6. The dist regen req and dist regen compl pids are no longer present for the 6.4 ...
  7. I know on the old DTS site there was a section for job postings, cant seem to find it anymore. Anyhow, we are looking for a Tech at work. We are a small Ford dealer, 3 guys in the shop (one of whom just gave notice) We are seeking a tech to replace him, Ford experience is a definite asset but not required. We run two techs and an apprentice, so for my sanity I hope we can find someone soon! We are straight flat rate, I think there may be a straight time guarantee for new people. For info email Dan@kickinghorseford.com or PM me if interested. We are in a mountain resort town of apprx 6000 people, 2.5hrs west of Calgary, 7 hrs east of Vancouver.
  8. I did my first primary w/p on a 6.7 a few weeks ago. Shitty ass job for sure.
  9. I wonder if they did it to mitigate the horrendous gear rattle that the 08's had.
  10. I wonder if they tried to take it apart and disable the airbag light, or maybe tried electronically to disable the airbag light and fried the cluster?
  11. Steve what was the mileage on the one you had? I just had another one (easy diag now) and both of the ones I've seen were around 100k. If it was a manufacturing defect you would think it would show up long before then. I noticed on the one I replaced yesterday that the flex line from the frame to the tank was very stiff, and I think the line is putting pressure on the fitting and cracking it from vibration on rough roads.
  12. I try to avoid tearing them down, but now with digital imaging prior approval they always want pictures of all damaged components and the causal part. We kept getting flagged in the 126 reports for labour cost on engine replacements. We just had a warranty audit this summer, and the auditor (Ken Garbish for any of you western Canadians) showed us that it is because we were claiming mt time to reassemble core engines. He said don't claim it. Get the apprentice or wash bay kids to put it back together however to make it all fit in the crate.
  13. I chased the nav deal on a 2014 that someone else put oversized tires on and programmed the size larger. It has a recurring P160a and the nav shows the truck driving through the forest and houses, not on the street it is actually on. When hotline told me it was the tires I was sceptical, until I put the stockers on for winter, and the nav magically worked fine.
  14. I honestly don't remember Mike. Sales brought it in and I pretty much already knew what they did. Truck was sold, mad rush, I swapped fuses from another unit and cleared the codes quickly.
  15. Only time I have seen that line buzz is when air is entering fuel system. We chased one for a while, and ended up finding the fitting on the top of the sending unit was cracked.
  16. I just had a 2012 towed in today. 38k on the odometer, 1170 hours. Locked up solid going down the road.
  17. Connect the injectors to the rail (upside down)using the old fuel lines, without the electrical plugs connected. Crank the engine and see if you have any leaking pintles. This will also show any leaks to return port, although they usually wont start if leaking to return.
  18. Overfueling cylinders will wash the cylinder walls and fuel will end up in the oil that way. Anything with a negative fuel trim shows the pcm is attempting to correct for overfueling. -16 is a lot.
  19. I've seen a few of those 125a fuses blown from someone (salesman) boosting on the output lug of the fuse.
  20. I usually do a quick scan in the lot or on the street to determine if I can avoid pushing these things into the shop. We only have 3 guys in the shop total, it can be tough pushing loaded f-350s around. We don't have a sensor in stock as they are on national backorder. A dealer a few hours away had 24 in stock though, so we were able to rob one. Bad enough pushing stuff in, pushing stuff out because we don't have parts is very annoying.
  21. I just put a turbo on an 08 6.7L dodge. Turbo came from dodge, genuine cummins reman. It was defective out of the box, we called dodge and they gave us a 1 800 # to call. We called it and they said they are for powertrain assy warranty only (engine and trans). End result is they will replace the turbo, but no labour cost. Truck never even left the shop.
