  1. They've updated the fresh air kit, it now runs all the way up into the engine compartment on the left fender.
  2. It's TSB 11-04-03 I've attached it below.
  3. Also, pull the oil pan and look at the camshaft. Rotate the engine by hand so you can see the top of all the cam lobes.
  4. 7.3L built to meet California emissions were equipped with the same GPCM that was used on the 6.0L and 6.4L. from the factory. I don't know what modifications would have to be made to the harness, or if you'd be better off getting a Cal. emissions harness, there is a bracket for it to mount on, and I would guess you just need to reprogram the PCM, perhaps using the VIN for a California truck? We do replace a ton of modules on them out here, even though it doesn't usually get cold enough to need them here, it does set that pesky orange light on the dash.
  5. Don't usually just drag one of these around the farm. That's why I shot higher.
  6. 625,000 is my guess, I've also seen a bunch of 7.3's well over the 300k mark.
  7. This is how I pull them on a truck, It's been a while since I worked on a van, but I think I'll try this on the next one I have to pull!!
  8. Looks like MPS (melted piston syndrome)
  9. It's normal to have a small leak at the injectors, especially a newly installed one, it's the pressure that forces these seals to seal to the manifold rail. Since our shop air is only about 150-170 psi it does not have enough force to completely seal against the manifold. Even on an injector that has been run you might find a slight leak when air testing, but it will seal back up when you run the truck. We are looking for the 'big' leaks.
  10. Seriously!! I have 2 of the 8mm's because I broke the one and didn't have a cornwell dealer coming by the shop so I had to buy another, now I'm at a shop with a cornwell dealer and have gotten that one replaced....always nice to have a spare I guess
  11. As long as it's under 6 years old there's the possibility of clp....over 6....forget about it
  12. I've had pretty good luck with a hammer and chisel also, haven't had one give me too much trouble.
  13. Now that you mention it, we have a plasma cutter at the shop Maybe it's time to play with it! What do you guys think of putting a heli-coil on these manifolds? Will it hold?
  14. Got one in my stall right now, spent almost 2.5 hours today trying to get the bolt out with drilling and extractors, broke an easy out off in it, it's getting a new head per ford hotline(after waiting on hold for 30 minutes!).
  15. Not a bad idea, I've got one of them I use to bleed the lp system and pump gas out of diesel's I guess I'll have to start using it to check my work too!
  16. Only ever had one leak on me - the first one I did, and that was because I'd forgotten you had to replace the pump if the fitting backed off (it'd been a year since I went to class and I hadn't worked on one since class!). Had to put a pump in it after that....eat my time!
  17. 2011 6.7L King Ranch 16k on the odo. Died while driving down the freeway, starts - after cranking for about 30 seconds, running on 4 cylinders. Has red dye fuel in it (off-road use only - non taxed) P0266, P0281, P1140, P1291, P1292, Has a shorted out fuel injector (see TSB 11-06-10) and needs all 8 replaced and perhaps a pump, some water in the fuel sample, and also some debris. My SD, SM and SF decided it's getting shipped up the road to the selling dealer to deal with, we're in warranty counseling and they don't want to mess with it or have to tell this guy that he needs to buy $4000 worth of injectors for his brand new truck.
  18. Looking for a Certified Ford Diesel Tech, one of our guys put in his 2 week notice today, Shop Foreman wants a replacement ASAP.
  19. Praying y'all are safe over there on the Eastern Seaboard! I hate seeing the suffering these horrific natural disasters impose on people! I've been very lucky throughout my life in not being personally affected by things like this, but I have often witnessed the damage it does to the lives of people I've known, I've volunteered many hours helping at shelters and with clean up after these things, and seeing the people that have lost everything just wrenches my heart! Makes me remember what I learned in Boy Scouts, ALWAYS BE PREPARED! 72 hour kits are an awesome thing! Stuff enough clothing and food (non-perishable) along with a few other hygiene items and necessities into a backpack to last you 3 days, do this for each member of your family, and keep it accessible at all times, perhaps have a second one in your car (in case you're not home or unable to get home should something happen). I was not prepared this week when we had to evacuate, I had gotten relaxed in that my family has not been affected by something like this for so long, luckily I was able to get home after work and get the necessities for my family that we needed for 2 days of not being allowed home, I'm getting kits pieced together for myself, my wife and all 3 of our children, I'm hoping I never need them, but I don't ever want to be caught needing them and not have them again!
  20. I was evacuated from my home on Tuesday (actually my wife and kids were, I was at work at the time) around 1:30 pm, due to a propane tanker rail car (filled with 29,000 gallons of propane) that caught fire about a half mile from my home, we weren't aloud back in until midnight last night (we didn't come home until today). http://www.news10.net/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=151424
